The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 177

Why were things the other way around? Shouldn't Matthew have been the one greeting Layla respectfully?

Tracy was dumbfounded. This was Layla they were talking about. She was the daughter of the Crane family, a family of martial artists. Why was she being so respectful to Matthew? Rachel was also stunned. She stood there and gaped at them without saying anything. She had no idea what had happened between Layla and Matthew to make things turn out like this. Matthew didn't want to reveal what had happened at Opulent Club. It had to do with Nicholas' mission, after all.

He shot Layla a look. Then, he smiled and said, "You came to me to treat your irregular period, and I prescribed something to you. Things should be back to normal now, right?" Layla flushed at his words. She was about to refute him when she saw him blinking at her. Then, she understood he wanted her to keep quiet about his earlier conflict with Lucas. She was fine with keeping it a secret, but why did he have to cover the truth up by saying she had an irregular period? Wasn't he just embarrassing her?

Still, Matthew had the upper hand, so Layla had no choice but to play along. "Yeah. It's much better now. My period has become regular after you treated me. Thanks, Dr. Grant." Rachel continued to gape at them. She didn't expect Matthew to be proficient in treating gynecology problems.

She couldn't help thinking about how he'd mentioned there was a serious problem with her health that could only be cured through sex.

Had he been telling the truth? He hadn't just been saying that because he wanted to get in her pants?

Meanwhile, Tracy looked awkward. Layla was the bigwig she'd invited to help Matthew out, and she'd even bragged to Matthew about it, wanting him to thank her. Unexpectedly, Layla had gone from being a bigwig to a lackey upon seeing Matthew. She'd even thanked Matthew for his help! It made Tracy feel like a clown.

Seeing that Layla was playing along with him, Matthew smiled. "It's good that you're all better."

Layla felt excited. As long as she could suck up to Matthew, there would still be hope for Lucas.

She said, "Tracy's already told me everything-it's a small matter. I've asked Sheldon to come over, and he should be here soon. I guarantee he'll agree to a mediation." Matthew nodded. "Do as you see fit."

Tracy's jaw dropped. What was up with his attitude? Did he think Layla was his subordinate? How could he act like that when he'd only cured Layla of a minor health issue? Who did he think he was? But still, she couldn't say anything because of how ingratiating Layla was acting.

Ten minutes later, the door opened. A man who looked very similar to Jeffrey entered the room. But unlike Jeffrey, his eyebrows were extremely bushy, giving him a fierce look.

His eyes were cold and sharp, and his demeanor was ferocious. The first thing he did upon entering the room was look around.

When his gaze landed on Rachel, her beauty made a trace of surprise flit past his eyes. Then, he fixed his

gaze on Matthew. It abruptly turned ruthless and murderous. Matthew returned it wordlessly.

Sheldon scoffed and turned to greet Layla. "Evening, Ms. Crane. What brings you to Lambda?"

She smiled. "What, I can't be here?"

His expression became a little awkward. He hurriedly explained, "Of course you can! Your presence in this city is an honor to us all!"

Layla smiled and motioned for everyone to sit. Then, she lifted her wine glass. "Mr. Grant genuinely doesn't know where Jeffrey is, Sheldon.

"I can understand how you feel about Jeffrey going missing, really. You can have your suspicions, but it's not right for you to blame Mr. Grant for Jeffrey's disappearance."

Sheldon didn't respond. He turned to

look at Matthew, his gaze as sharp as a blade. It was almost as if he wanted to slice through Matthew's skin and skull to see what was going on in his mind. Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

Matthew was unfazed. He didn't seem to fear Sheldon's gaze at all.

Sheldon frowned. Matthew wasn't flustered in the least. Could it be that he really had nothing to do with Jeffrey's disappearance?

After a long silence, he turned to Layla and said, "I won't kill him today, for your sake. But if I investigate the matter and find that he's behind this, don't blame me for disregarding you."

Layla nodded, trust Mr. Grant, and

I would advise you not to be so

dogged about him. This matter ends here, okay? If you run into any problems with Uncle Arthur in the future, you can come to me.ll do my best to help you."

Her uncle, Arthur Crane, was Sheldon's mentor. This played a big part in her role as a mediator.

Sheldon stood up. "Alright. I'll leave things like this for now."

Before leaving, he glanced at Rachel. "Are you the woman my brother has a crush on?"

Rachel was caught off guard by the sudden question and didn't know how to answer. She glanced at Matthew before saying, "Maybe."

Sheldon nodded. "Good!"

Then, he turned and left. As soon as he stepped out of the private room, his expression changed drastically.

He gnashed his teeth hard, and his eyes glinted with hatred and resentment. His expression twisted almost horrifically, and he looked like a beast that was about to rip someone's flesh.
