Chapter 172
With a wave of his hand, Lucas signaled to his henchmen. About a dozen men carrying various gifts followed him into Opulent Club.
As they approached the entrance, their path was blocked by three people and a dog.
Lucas gestured to one of the burly men in his group, who immediately understood the command and moved forward to clear the way. "Move aside!" he barked at the group.
Matthew, Jenny, Cosmo, and Max had just reached the club's entrance when they heard a commotion from behind. Turning to see the hostile glares of the approaching men, Matthew frowned. He didn't want to start a conflict, so he calmly said to Jenny and Cosmo, "Let's step aside and let them pass."
Cosmo, however, was trailing a bit as he was playing with Max. One of the bodyguards, growing impatient, gave him a rough shove. "Get out of the way, you blind fool!"
With a thud, Cosmo fell to the ground. Anger flared in Jenny's eyes. Despite already making way for them, they had pushed Cosmo just for being a bit slow. It was excessive and uncalled for.
As the burly man prepared to walk past them, Matthew swiftly stepped forward, blocking his path. "Stop right there!"
The man glared at Matthew with disdain. "Get lost, or you'll regret it!"
Meanwhile, Cosmo struggled to his feet, grimacing in pain. He rolled up his pant leg, revealing a scraped knee as fresh blood slowly oozed from the wound.
Upon seeing this, Matthew's anger flared even more intensely. Pointing at Cosmo's injured leg, he turned to the burly man and said firmly, "Apologize."
From a short distance away, Lucas noticed the commotion and the roadblock his men made. His patience was waning and he snapped, "You idiot! Stop wasting time on these nobodies. Get them out of the way and don't hold me up."
He then watched his henchman and crossed his arms. Emboldened by Lucas' command, the henchman's expression twisted into a sneer.
"You're asking for it, punk. How dare you block Mr. Crane's path? I'll smack you so hard you'll wish you were dead!" he spat, raising his hand to strike Matthew.
But before the blow could land, Matthew's eyes glinted with a cold, steely light. As the man's hand moved closer, he countered it with a swift, powerful kick.
The solid impact echoed through the air, and the burly man was sent sprawling through the air.
The 200-pound man flew over six feet into the air and landed heavily with a thud that sent dust clouds billowing and the ground trembling.
The impact knocked him out cold, leaving him sprawled unconscious on the ground.
For a moment, Lucas and his henchmen were stunned and stood in silence, unable to process what had just happened.

renowned for his strength and
combat skills, but he had been defeated in a single blow.
Layla's disdainful expression from earlier shifted into astonishment, and he stared at Matthew.
Lucas, recovering from his shock, twisted his face into a mocking sneer. "You've got some nerve, taking on my henchman like that!"
Matthew narrowed his eyes and
sized up Lucas. The man had a thick
neck, broad shoulders, and hands covered in calluses-classic signs of someone trained in boxing
Such people were notorious for their brutal and relentless fighting style, making them particularly dangerous to offend.
Matthew took a deep breath, suppressing the fury rising within him. "We were walking ahead, and there was no reason for us to make way for you. Yet, we moved aside. Then your henchman shoved a child. I don't want to cause trouble, but don't push me to my limit."
Lucas sneered. "Who do you think you are to lecture me? You? Not a single person has to right to lecture me in Lambda City!"
Just as Lucas' words hung in the air, a deep voice came from behind them. "Lucas Crane, what are you doing here?"
Lucas turned toward the entrance and saw an elderly man with a face full of wrinkles and a white beard standing there. It was Ansel.
Lucas' eyes widened with excitement. He hurried forward, his demeanor shifting into one of respect.
"Mr. Mullins, it's you! I came here to see you. I had no idea you'd be at the door. I ran into some nobody blocking my path."
All of a sudden, Ansel's hands shot out, delivering a sharp slap across Lucas' face. "Who are you calling a nobody?"
