The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 173

The slap stunned everyone present. Lucas' henchmen stood there as if they'd seen a ghost.

Layla's expression was equally shocked. Her father, Andy Crane, always spoke of Ansel with the highest respect, praising his wisdom, esteemed status, and mysterious background. But why was he suddenly hitting someone?" Clutching his cheek, Lucas stared at Ansel in disbelief. "You... you hit me? My dad sent me here to ask you to be my mentor... I've shown you nothing but respect. And just because of someone-"

Ansel's hand cut through the air again, silencing Lucas mid-sentence with another slap.

He scolded, "You may not have shown me disrespect, but you disrespected this man. Let me tell you, even if your father dared to show him any disrespect, I'd still slap him!"

Lucas was completely taken aback. The shock reverberated through him, leaving him utterly stunned. His father was the head of the Crane family, a man of considerable stature.

Yet, here was Ansel, declaring with authority that he would also strike his father without hesitation if it came to that.

Who was this man standing before him, and why did he have Ansel's profound respect?

The more Lucas pondered it, the more his astonishment grew. Clutching his face, he hesitantly asked, "Who... who exactly is he?"

Ansel responded with a dismissive snort, "You're not worthy of knowing who he is!"

With that, Ansel approached Matthew and said respectfully, "My apologies for arriving late. I should've been here to greet you properly and spare you the trouble of dealing with that scoundrel." Upon seeing this, Lucas realized that Ansel was showing Matthew deep respect. A surge of realization overwhelmed him. Lucas finally understood that Matthew's status was far from ordinary. Matthew let out a cold snort. "There's no need for you to slap him. I can handle him myself."

Sensing the genuine anger in Matthew's voice, Ansel immediately adjusted his tone. "Please, treat me as if I'm not here... Feel free to do whatever to him."

Lucas, now visibly shaken, quickly stepped forward. "I'm sorry, I... I didn't know who you were. It was my mistake. There's no need for you to dirty your hands. I can punish myself."

With that, Lucas raised his hand and began slapping his own face. The sharp sounds echoed in the air and continued relentlessly, one after another. Lucas showed no signs of stopping.

Next to him, Layla was too frightened to speak up. It wasn't that she didn't dare to. Rather, she was scared of escalating the situation further.

Seeing Lucas repeatedly slapping himself, blood trickling down from his lips, Cosmo couldn't bear it anymore. He approached Matthew, his voice trembling. "Matt, let it go. My wound isn't that serious."

Matthew ruffled Cosmo's hair

gently. "You're too soft. You can't be

like this when you're older. Anyone who bullies you must pay the price, and you must make them suffer so much they'll never dare to bully you again!"

Cosmo looked at Matthew with a hint of fear in his eyes, nodding silently. "Alright. I got it."

Ignoring Lucas, who was slapping himself, Matthew led Jenny and Cosmo into the club as Max followed closely by Cosmo's side.

Matthew shot a disapproving glance at Max. "Useless mutt. You didn't even bark at him earlier."

Max seemed to understand its mistake, hanging its head low and remaining silent.

Guided by Ansel, they made their way up to the ninth floor. At the entrance, Lucas stopped slapping himself. He massaged his swollen cheeks. "What should we do? Mr. Mullins would never agree to our request after we offended that person."

Layla shot Lucas a disgruntled glare. "Who told you to go looking for trouble? I bet Dad will break your legs if you return empty-handed!" Lucas stared at the signboard of Opulent Club, his face filled with worry as he covered his face. "Will he forgive me if I apologize sincerely?" Layla looked equally troubled. "Don't think so."

On the ninth floor of Opulent Club, Ansel welcomed them warmly and told them to take a seat.

Jenny sat in her chair, although she was curious about her surroundings, she restrained herself. On the other hand, Cosmo couldn't sit still. He was looking at the unique decor on the ninth floor, and Max rested

wearily beside Jenny.

Matthew looked at Max and suddenly remembered the scene downstairs when Max didn't dare to bark when Cosmo was being pushed.

Its behavior was quite different from its smart reaction when it found the hidden book. Matthew felt something was amiss and asked, "Is this dog afraid of people?"

Jenny answered, "Many patients

came to our house for treatment,

and most of them were strangers. Max used to be aggressive toward them, and Grandpa punished it` several times. Eventually, it never dared to bark again."
