Passion 217
Yvette hadn't expected the CEO who was known to be cold outside to have such a shameless side to him as well. She had always thought that Xavier didn't care about her at all.
Xavier looked at Yvette, who was next to him, and thought it would be worth it if he could spend the rest of his life with her.
She finally fell asleep when the sky was getting brighter
Since if was a holiday, it was as lively as ever at Lane Mansion. Many relatives came to the mansion to celebrate the holiday together. The only difference this year was that Xavier had brought Yvette back for the celebration as well.
Some people had known about it a while ago, so now they had something to gossip about in private.
They were all discussing how Yvette would make a fool out of herself this year. They also wondered how she was going to flatter them this time.
"I don't know what Xav is thinking. He should've let that woman go."
"Exactly! Maybe she came back to bother him again."
It was incredibly lively outside. When Yvette woke up in the room, it was already late.
She got out of bed and saw the clothes that had been prepared for her. There were also some luxurious pieces of jewelry next to the clothes.
She quickly looked away from them and changed into her own clothes before heading downstairs. Xavier had been waiting for her for a while.
When he saw that she hadn't worn the dress he had prepared for her, he was surprised.
"I don't want to be a part of your family's banquet." Yvette got straight to the point.
"Give me a reason." He stared at her.
"Do I even need a reason for that?" she answered with a question.
He walked to her and said, "It'll be different this year."
She took a step back. "I don't want to go."
How would it be different? The way that they decided to bully her? Since she hadn't seen these people in five years, Yvette figured they would have a lot more to say about her.
Xavier had come to take her to the banquet himself. When they had been together in the past, she had cried and said, "Other people take their wives to various gatherings. Meanwhile, I'm always by myself. Other people have people looking after them. I'm the only one who doesn't have that."
However, he realized that she didn't need him to take her anywhere now. It didn't seem like she needed his protection anymore, either. Xavier's hand froze in mid-air as he said, "Whatever."
He coldly strode out out of the house. He figured he wouldn't have to face all the mocking gazes without her by his side.

Marlene was chatting with a group of women at the banquet. They all noticed Xavier when he arrived. without Yvette. The other women were curious. "Marlene, didn't you say that the deaf woman was back? Why isn't she here?"
Marlene shook her head. "I have no idea too. Maybe Xav was afraid of embarrassing himself." She tightened her grip around the glass in her hand and said, "I have something to attend to. Please excuse
1. me.
Since Yvette was finally back in the picture, Marlene couldn't let such a great opportunity slip through her fingers.
She asked the housekeepers about it and learned that Yvette was alone at Xavier's residence. Then, she finally dared to look for the latter.
Yvette was in the house, studying the map Noah had given her. Suddenly, she heard someone ring the doorbell. She quickly turned her phone off and got up to open the door.
When she opened the door, she saw a woman with curly brown hair standing at the entrance. Although five years had passed, it was still easy for them to recognize each other.
Nothing had changed about Marlene. As for Yvette, Marlene remembered her as someone who didn't like to dress herself up. In fact, she used to be a plain Jane.
However, the Yvette in front of Marlene at that moment had some makeup on and was wearing a custom-made dress. It felt as if she had transformed into another person and was no longer the desperate and humble wife from the past.Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
