Chapter 175
Matthew's facial muscles twitched. He couldn't bring himself to imagine that a beauty like Rachel had said something like that. It was a stark contrast to her ice queen image.
Just then, Tracy entered the office. She told Rachel, "I've asked a friend to step in and mediate the situation."
Rachel's worry dissipated a little. "That's great. It's good enough that someone's willing to help us out. I just hope this matter will be resolved as soon as possible."
Tracy glared at Matthew. "It's all your fault. It's bad enough that you're not actually doing any work, but you keep causing trouble for us too! Don't offend people that you can't afford to offend!"
Matthew was a little frustrated. "I didn't say that I couldn't handle the situation, did I? The guy's name is Sheldon Smith, right? Tell him to come look for me."
Tracy curled her lip. "Stop trying to make yourself out to be better than you are at a time like this! How are you gonna handle this? Do you even know who Sheldon is? Even if there were ten of you, you wouldn't stand a chance against him!"
Matthew was about to say something when her phone rang. She answered it and had a short conversation before hanging up.
Then, she told Matthew, "That friend of mine has agreed to help, so we'll meet them tonight at Rose Bar. Remember to be polite and respectful to everyone that you see, you hear me?"
Matthew had been about to say that none of this was necessary, but he didn't want to let Rachel and Tracy down when they seemed so enthusiastic about the whole thing.
"Fine. I'll be there on time. Now, I've gotta go pick Lorraine up from school." With that, he turned and left.
Tracy gnashed her teeth angrily when she saw him leave just like that. "Look at him! He's not the least bit anxious over the trouble he's caused while we're the ones running up and down trying to resolve the matter! If not for you, I wouldn't even bother about this!" Rachel smiled and handed her a coffee. "And I really appreciate your help. Here, have a coffee."
Tracy looked at the mug, suddenly recalling the time she drank Matthew's leftover coffee. She couldn't help blushing.
That night, Matthew headed to Rose Bar. It wasn't his first time there, but his mood was completely different compared to the last time.
The last time he'd been there, he'd gone to see Tessa, worried that she would take Lorraine from him. It had been a complicated situation.
Today, though, he felt completely at
ease. He entered the bar at 8:00 p.m. sharp. He headed to the front desk and was about to ask where room 17 was when he was suddenly enveloped in a fragrant breeze. At the same time, a woman with sexy curves threw herself into his arms.
Matthew frowned. Rose definitely had an awesome figure he could clearly feel the curve of her breasts as she pressed them against him. "Don't do this, Rose. It won't be good if people see us like this."Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
She leaned close to his ear and said
breathily, "You have no idea the bullets I've been shielding you from for the past two days, Matty. Yet, you've been heartless enough not to show up at all. Have you finally remembered me?"
She was confident that with her looks and figure, no ordinary man would be able to resist her charms She thought that Matthew would come to her the very next day, but he hadn't done so. It had been out of her expectations.
Fortunately, he was finally here. It looked like he couldn't resist her after all. And so, she wanted to give him a bit of a treat upon his arrival. She rubbed her voluptuous chest against him. Matthew felt like there was a flame burning within him. He'd gone three years without any women in his life, so he couldn't help smacking Rose on her ass. "Fine, fine. I missed you. Happy now?"
She jolted from the smack and said coyly, "I'm super happy."
He stepped back. "Good. Now, I'm here for something serious. Where's room 17?"
"You-" Rose was taken aback. She'd been happy for nothing. It turned out he was only there because he had to meet someone.
"Do you know that the Smith family has sent people here several times over the past two days to find out who you are?
"I've helped you dodge so many bullets, you know? Aren't you going to give me even a little something to show your gratitude?"
Matthew's smile disappeared upon hearing her words. "The fact that I didn't kill you for conspiring with Jeffrey is the biggest gift you can get. Don't get too greedy and ask for more than you deserve."
