Chapter 169
Matthew's eyes gleamed with a cold light. With lightning speed, his right foot flashed out and kicked Harry's wrist. With a thud, the sword flew into the air, tracing a silver arc. Matthew's hand shot up, catching the blade effortlessly. With a swift flick of his wrist, the blade slashed Harry's throat, sending a fine spray of blood into the air.
Harry clutched his neck, his face contorted in pain and shock. "You... Who are you?" he gasped, desperate for answers in his final moments.
This was the question that gnawed at him as he faced death-why had his seemingly foolproof plan unraveled so disastrously here? Harry couldn't die without knowing.
Nearby, Cosmo appeared almost exhilarated. Though the room had four, and a man was bleeding from his neck, he wasn't scared.
At this moment, Cosmo's face flushed with pride. "He's the one who taught me to use boiling water to treat facial neuritis. Not only were you not able to beat him in a fight, but your medical skills were also no match for his!"
Harry's eyes widened in sheer disbelief, bulging as if they might pop out of their sockets. His expression wavered between sudden realization, shock, and regret.
Clutching his throat, he stammered, "I... I... should have just taken the book and... and left..."
His voice grew fainter with each word until it dwindled into silence. His head slumped to the side, and he collapsed to the ground.
Jenny was pale, her face frozen in a mixture of terror and disbelief. In her shock, she instinctively reached out to cover Cosmo's eyes, trying to shield him from the gruesome sight.
But Cosmo gently pushed her hand away. "I'm not scared," he declared firmly. "I've seen dead bodies before-Grandpa's, Mom's, and Dad's. I'm not afraid of the dead. These people deserved it. Their deaths don't scare me. They make me happy." Jenny stared at her brother in shock. It was the first time she had heard Cosmo saying something like this. A sense of fear crept into her heart.
The timid, quiet boy she knew seemed to have vanished, replaced by someone she barely recognized. Her heart ached with a strange, profound sorrow.
Matthew stepped over to Cosmo, gently ruffling his hair, and offering a silent comfort.
Jenny pointed to the lifeless bodies scattered across the floor. "What do we do with these?"
Matthew paused to think, then pulled out his phone and dialed a number. "Hello?"Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
On the other end, Ansel couldn't hide his delight when he heard Matthew's voice. A broad smile appeared on his face. "What can I do for you, sir?"
Matthew winced when Ansel called
him "sir", which made his skin crawl. He pushed aside his discomfort and replied, "I've got a few corpses here. I need you to send someone to take care of them." en
He now had slightly more trust in Ansel, after having established Opulent Club for him.
When he needed a fake copy of Medieval Medicine, Ansel got it for him in just one day. The fake copy hardly had any flaws, and could even hold a candle to the original copy. Matthew believed that the people Nicholas had entrusted to him were truly capable. Entrusting this task to him was the most suitable option.
Ansel's smile grew wider. "Send me the location, and I'll have someone clean it up right away."
Matthew sent him the location and urged, "Make it quick."
Ansel agreed and hung up the phone, muttering to himself, "Looks like I've still got something of use."
20 minutes later, barriers were placed in front of the general clinic, with signs that said a renovation was going on and advising pedestrians to take an alternative route. Several burly men entered the clinic to take care of the bodies and clean the area.
Within minutes, they drove away, leaving the front of the clinic restored to its original state, as if nothing had ever happened.
Jenny sat silently on the chair, still seemingly unable to recover from the shock of moments ago.
After a while, she suddenly remembered something and asked Matthew. "Matt, where did you learn the method of treating facial neuritis with boiling water?"
This method seemed too
miraculous. It was more like a divine
intervention than a medical skill. It
had no side effects, didn't cost anything, and the treatment was incredibly effective.
Matthew smiled and replied, "I learned it from my mentor."
Jenny was suddenly intrigued about Matthew's master and asked, "Can I meet him? Perhaps I could learn some medical skills from him."
He shook his head. "I don't know where he is, and I haven't seen him for a while."
Jenny's eyes sparkled with excitement as she looked at Matthew and said, "Then I could learn from you in the future."
He pondered for a moment and nodded, "Sure. Learning medical skills is about saving lives, and I won't hoard all the knowledge. The medical book your grandfather had was given to him by my mentor."
