The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 391

Chapter 391

Cordelia returned to her apartment, it was three in the afternoon. At this time, Taylor would have been

at work already.

She entered her bedroom, shed her coat, quickly pulled her hair into a bun, donned a fluffy white

sweater, and sat down at her desk to read.

The entire motion was fluid and uninterrupted.

"Didn't you notice there's another person in the room?" Ronan's languid voice resonated from behind

her.

How could Cordelia not have noticed? The moment she stepped through the door, she saw Ronan. He

was awake, but hadn't gotten out of bed, laying there bare-skinned against the headboard.

He didn't seem to mind the cold.

"I saw you," Cordelia replied, reaching for a pair of silver-rimmed glasses by her side.

Her desk was positioned behind the bed, so Ronan could see her put on glasses, but not her face while

wearing them.

He was intrigued. She had once said he looked like a 'scruffy scholar' with glasses on. So, did she

transform into a virtuous maiden with hers?

"Are you short-sighted?" He tilted his head, trying to get a better look at Cordelia with her glasses on,

but only managed to catch sight of her obedient and upright back.

"I've been slightly short-sighted for a while, about fifty degrees. It's not a big deal, I don't really need

glasses. But now that I'm back to studying and sometimes I can't see clearly, so I got glasses," Cordelia

"Why didn't you come back for lunch? Weren't you supposed to video call our son?" He asked.

Cordelia clenched her fist slightly. "Something came up. I got held up. Aren't you supposed to be

leaving?"

"Do you want me to leave?" Ronan asked her.

"Umm…" Cordelia tightened her grip on her fist. "It's complicated, hard to explain."

"What was so important that you even missed seeing your son?" Ronan lit a cigarette behind her,

questioning her.

Cordelia didn't want to tell him that she had become friends with a woman from his past. To be precise,

she didn't want to mention the name "Petra" in front of him at all.

"I was discussing assignments with my tutor, and I lost track of time." Cordelia didn't turn around and

continued to read her book intently.

"What a diligent student," Ronan commented sarcastically.

"Oh, when are you planning to leave?" Cordelia recalled the important question.

Ronan glanced at the pillow beside him. "I've got five condoms left. I'll leave once they're all used up."

Cordelia's hand tightened into fists. If it was like before, he could finish five in two days.

On a normal day, Cordelia could study for an entire afternoon after returning home at noon. But not

today, with Ronan around, she couldn't concentrate on her studies.

Finance was a subject that required 120% effort to grasp. At present, Cordelia could only summon 70%

of that and already felt overwhelmed.

"I haven't eaten," Ronan suddenly stated.

It seemed that Cordelia wouldn't have a peaceful afternoon and would be unable to focus on her

books.

Cordelia started twirling her pen. "I'll see what's in the fridge. But don't get your hopes up. Taylor and I

usually eat out, so we don't have a lot of food at home."

"Go ahead," Ronan instructed.

Reluctantly, Cordelia stood up from her chair.

As she turned around, Ronan caught a glimpse of Cordelia with glasses. The round-bottom, flat-top

glasses with a hint of pink against the white made her look not dull, but rather charming and attractive.

Along with her white sweater, she radiated an alluring, austere beauty. Her physique and gaze were

reminiscent of a young woman without a child.

"I think we only have instant soup in the fridge. Are you okay with that?" She asked while adjusting her

glasses.

"I'll eat anything you make," Ronan replied, his eyes roving over Cordelia.

It seemed like every time he saw her, she had something new to offer, a stark contrast to the likes of

Deanna.

Cordelia headed to the kitchen.
