Chapter 334
Chapter 334
PrimeBuild Contractors needed to balance their books, and they knew that Cordelia handled last year’s
accounts.
Those accounts were from her previous job, and if Cordelia released them, she would be violating
professional ethics, and possibly even leaking corporate secrets. It could land her in hot water.
Still, Cordelia found it hard to believe that Will and Hunter, who had practically groveled when they
handed over the accounts to Lumos Enterprises, would use this to threaten her.
Cordelia dialed up Ronan.
"Mr. Evans," she began.
"It's only been a few minutes, and you miss me already?" he teased.
"No, is it true that PrimeBuild Contractors always wanted to collaborate with Lumos Enterprises?"
Cordelia asked.
She remembered from her visit to PrimeBuild Contractors the previous year how fawning Will had been
over Ronan. They were both in construction, but PrimeBuild mostly handled subcontracting work. They
had been keen to score projects for Lumos Enterprises but had always been left hanging.
"Yes, they weren't qualified enough, so I rejected them."
"Got it." With that, Cordelia hung up.
Now she understood why PrimeBuild Contractors were acting this way. They were likely hoping to use
this information as leverage to secure a collaboration with Lumos Enterprises. It was child's play, really.
"Milana, tell them we don't have last year's financial data. If they want a comparison, let them pull up
their own statements. I can't release the accounts I prepared for them last year at a different company.
It's against professional principles," Cordelia said.
"See, I knew there was something fishy going on. We need to get to the bottom of this. I'll call them Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
now." With that, Milana dialed up Hunter. If they wanted to compare, they would need to provide their
own accounts.
Hunter sounded apologetic. "Oh, oh, oh, I forgot Cordelia is now working at Lumos Enterprises."
Hunter then called Will, who berated him. "You're the one who came up with this rotten idea! You
couldn't come up with a legit plan, so you tried to exploit someone else! I hope Ronan doesn't see
through our scheme. Otherwise, dream about collaborating with Lumos Enterprises! I'm docking you a
month's pay!"
Hunter could only swallow his frustration. He could only hope that Cordelia wouldn't see through their
scheme. If she did, she would definitely tell Ronan.
"I'll call Mr. Evans later and explain this mess! You're more trouble than you're worth!" Will grumbled at
Hunter.
Hunter was left to swallow his bitter pill in silence.
......
Meanwhile, Cordelia heaved a sigh of relief.
Milana had pulled Cordelia in because of the PrimeBuild Contractors issue. Once it was resolved,
Cordelia was free, and Milana didn't assign her any further tasks.
It was already late in the month, and she didn't dare to assign more.
Cordelia planned to head home with Ronan that afternoon, so she settled down on a couch and started
scrolling through her phone.
After making a call, Milana asked Cordelia, "What time are you leaving this afternoon?"
"I'm not sure. Why?"
"I was hoping to hitch a ride with you to the set of 'The High Society.' I remember it's on your way
home. I didn't drive today. I took a cab," Milana explained.
"No problem, I'll go with you. I'm done with my tasks anyway," Cordelia said, thinking, “I'll have Tristi
drop me off at home first. I won't go home with Ronan today.”
Just then, a message from Ronan popped up. [Come down.]
"Milana, he's looking for me. I'll be back," Cordelia told Milana.
"Him? Who?"
"Ronan."
Milana chuckled, "Cordelia, you always refer to Mr. Evans as 'him.' It always takes me a moment to
realize who you're talking about. Okay, just let me know when you're leaving."
Cordelia nodded in acknowledgment.
