“Stop the nonsense. I’m thinking of our Shaw family’s future. Marrying into Charles’s family is like joining one of Brookville’s top four families. It’s something many can only wish for!” Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

“It’s still a no–go!” Jade said firmly, leaning in to whisper to Julian, “I’ve got someone else in mind for Noelle, and he’s on his way.”

“Who’s that?”

“The Smiths. They’re also one of the top families. Remember the woman I saved back in my younger days?

Jade smiled. “That was Miss Yitty of the Smith family. I’ve heard she has a son. He’s a real enigma, and hardly anyone’s seen him. Yitty owed me a favor for saving her.”

“You want to set Noelle up with Yitty’s son?” Julian asked, his eyes lighting up with greed.

It did not have to be Charles. Anyone who could lend a hand to the Shaw family was just as good. Julian nodded to himself, thinking. “Just make sure to keep an eye out later, and as for him…”

“Don’t worry, I just spoke with Yitty on the phone,” Jade assured him. “She said her son is definitely coming today!” Even though it seemed like Noelle was getting a good deal by marrying Yitty’s son, it was a win for the Shaws to get in with the Smiths.

Winter’s wedding party kicked off at seven sharp that evening. The morning’s church ceremony was not too crowded, and Noelle did not bother with that fuss. She and Charles were all about the evening’s festivities. With Suzy’s help, Winter made her way into the banquet hall.

With the crowd buzzing, Winter did not bother to check on Noelle’s doings.

Leaving the lounge, Noelle was arm–in–arm with Samuel, while Charles kept pace with Sebastian, chatting about who–knows–what. They looked like a classy bunch.

The lively hall hushed as those four made their entrance, creating a rather strange tableau. Noelle with Samuel, Charles beside Sebastian–they almost looked like family. Any onlooker who did not know their story might have easily thought they were one.

Winter and Xavier were clinking glasses in a toast when Noelle and her group appeared. Instantly, all eyes were drawn to Noelle and Charles.

Somehow, even without talking, Noelle and Charles looked perfectly at ease together.

Winter noticed Xavier’s hand tighten around his glass, his eyes flashing with anger. She paused, concern flickering across her face, but then she took a deep breath, walked over, and gently touched Xavier’s hand. “Xavier, why are you just standing there? Come on, let’s go toast Grandpa and Granddad!”

Xavier gave Winter a troubled look, his heart still filled with unease. He could not shake the feeling that Noelle was slipping away from him, and their relationship was growing more strained by the day. It felt Jike they could never go back to the way things were.

‘Noelle!‘

Xavier silently called her name in his mind but followed Winter, moving toward Noelle and the rest.
