Rekindling Her Affection (Sabrina and Nelson)

Chapter 42

The knock sounded as though Gerald was knocking on Sabrina's heart.

She knew Gerald couldn't see the inside of the car from the outside, but her mind was in a complete mess.

Sabrina looked at Nelson pleadingly. Any man, including him, wouldn't be able to resist such a gaze. It was the most appealing scene he had ever seen.

He kissed her and said, "Show me your sincerity, and I'll send him away."

Sabrina leaned closer to kiss him.

Nelson's gaze was deep. He sent Dylan a WhatsApp message, saying, "Send Gerald away."

Gerald stood impatiently outside the car and knocked on the window a few times again.

"Come out. Who do you think you are to mess with someone else's woman? Do you have a death wish?"

Sabrina heard Gerald's voice that sounded both near and far. She felt terrible but didn't know if it was for him or herself.

Gerald's phone rang as he stood outside the car. He answered it. He then tossed the umbrella to the side and ran back toward his car because of what he heard.

Sabrina glanced sideways and saw Gerald's retreating figure move farther away in the rain. She didn't know how Nelson managed to send him away.

"Go back…"This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

As soon as her words fell, her phone under the seat rang. Nelson didn't stop her from picking up the phone.

Darkness enveloped them again, except for the bright light emanating from the phone screen. Gerald's name flashed on the screen, hurting Sabrina's eyes. She steadied her breathing and answered the phone.

"Hello…"

"Sabrina, which hospital are you at? Are you in pain?"

Sabrina's tears fell.

"I'm not in pain, and I'm not in the hospital."

"Don't lie to me. Dylan sent me a photo showing you got hit. I want to take care of you."

Gerald's voice sounded anxious and worried, which quickly softened her heart.

Gerald was speeding in the rain.

"Gerald, are you driving? Please be careful."

Nelson pulled Sabrina into his embrace, and her phone fell to the floor again.

Sabrina watched the time on the call duration go by through teary eyes. There was a faint hello from the other end of the phone.

Then, she heard Gerald shout her name, "Sabrina, what's wrong? Please don't scare me!"

Her phone screen went black. Nelson held her tightly until his phone rang.

He answered it and heard Dylan say, "I can't cover for you anymore. Mr. Ingram is searching one hospital after another."

Nelson leaned against the back seat.

His voice was hoarse as he said, "Okay."

"Can you take me to the hospital?"

"Is it necessary?" Nelson asked.

He implied that it would be better if Gerald saw them.

"I'll make it clear to him that we're done for good, even as friends," Sabrina said tremblingly.

Gerald didn't finish his high school studies because he started dating. Matthew sent him to study abroad, and he managed to return with a diploma.

If there was one thing in his life that he was most experienced in, it was looking for women.

Sabrina's face looked swollen in the photo sent by Dylan. No one would beat a woman into such a state without a valid reason. She was even tied up like a prisoner. Gerald understood what transpired with just a glance.

As dawn approached, Gerald received the location sent by Dylan.

When Gerald opened the door of the ward, he saw a faint yellow light illuminating Sabrina's face. She wasn't asleep but was leaning against the headboard. Under the light, she looked like a fragile porcelain doll.

"Oh, you're here."

Sabrina smiled at Gerald.

He noticed her bruised lips.

"Yes. Am I too late?"

Sabrina cried and shook her head.

"No."

Gerald sat in front of Sabrina.

"I should have been there for you."

"I don't blame you. I was careless," Sabrina said.

Then, she gently stroked the back of his hand just like how she did back when they were in the restaurant.

"Gerald, I can't do this with you. Let's not meet anymore."
