Chapter 403

Chapter 403

Left to fend for herself in this godforsaken place, Leonora knew she couldn’t let things continue this way.

Just then, she felt something being poured over her head.

Curious, she tilted her head back, catching a woman in the act of emptying a basin over her. Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.

Leonora, who had always lived a life of privilege, had never experienced such indignity.

She sprang up and charged at the woman, with teeth clenched in rage. “What the hell did you just dump on me?”

The woman burst into raucous laughter. “Take a whiff. You’ll figure it out.”

It was then that Leonora noticed the foul, rancid odor invading her nostrils. She instantly realized what the liquid was.

Furious, she raised her hand to strike the woman.

But her hand was only halfway up when it was abruptly seized, and a thudding blow came crashing down on her head.

A chair smashed over her, sending her world into a dizzying spin.

That was followed by a flurry of punches and kicks.

After a brutal half-hour beating, Leonora was left nearly dead.

Only now did she comprehend the severity of the words Heidi had once said to her about being humiliated and beaten.

In a bid for mercy, Leonora was forced to her knees, begging for forgiveness.

That was what finally made the gang relent.

She crawled and stumbled onto the bed.

And as she lay down, she saw a familiar face.

It was Heidi, but not as she remembered. Gone was her porcelain skin. Her eyes lacked their usual sparkle, and she appeared dark and gaunt.

Without a close look, she was unrecognizable.

Tears immediately welled up in Leonora’s eyes.

She crawled over to Heidi, sobbing, “Heidi, how are you holding up?”

Heidi recoiled as if seeing a demon, kicking Leonora away as she swore viciously, “Get lost. I don’t know you!”

Leonora’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Heidi, it’s me, Leonora. Don’t you remember?”

“Get out of here! I don’t know you. Get any closer, and I’ll have the queen here give you a beating.”

Heidi’s words were as harsh as the pain in her heart.

She had hoped that Leonora would be her savior, but now it was clear that Leonora was barely able to save herself.

She had narrowly escaped the beatings and didn’t want to invite trouble over Leonora again.

Seeing Heidi so cold and ruthless, Leonora felt both heartbroken and disillusioned.

“Fine, we don’t know each other. Nobody knows anybody here.”

During the still of the night, as Heidi stepped into the restroom, Leonora cornered her inside.

Before Heidi could scream, her mouth was covered.

Leonora whispered urgently, “If you want to get out of here, listen to me.”

A glimmer of hope shone in Heidi’s dull eyes.

She whispered back, “Do you have a plan?”

“Not yet, but I’m working on it. I’ll get in touch with someone on the outside soon.”

“How are things out there? Is that bitch Clara dead?”

Leonora bit down hard on her teeth. “Clara is indeed pregnant. But Ian got seriously injured trying to save me. He’s in a coma now, might even end up a vegetable. I think it’s high time for that bitch Clara to kick the bucket.”

Hearing this, Heidi seethed with anger.

“So she’s really pregnant.”

“And that’s not all. Edwin and the Yorks are all in on her little secret. They’re always at the Bells’ place fawning over her. Clara has completely taken your place in their hearts.”

At that, Heidi’s fists clenched tight.

“Clara, I swear you’ll pay for this with your life!”
