Back at the Lynch mansion, Lexi threw herself into Linda's arms.
"Mommy, Daddy's on a work trip. Why are you coming back so late. every day?"
After the New Year, Samson and Linda spent almost every waking hour with her. She was already used to having her parents by her side.
Something had happened at Novena, so Samson had rushed over for a meeting. He hadn't been home recently.
Linda was busy as well, so they were forced to leave Lexi at home so the babysitter could watch over her.
Lexi was upset because of that.
"Listen to me, Lexi," Linda said as she picked her up and hugged her.
"Daddy is busy with work, and so is Mommy. We can't spend every second with you. All we can do is try our best to spend all the free time we have with you.
"Even though Mommy and Daddy want nothing more than for you to rely on us for the rest of our lives, you can't really do that. You know that, right? I know how smart you are. "That's why you need to learn to be independent. The first step to being independent is to take good care of yourself when Mommy and Daddy aren't home," Linda said.
Lexi buried her head into the crook of Linda's shoulder. "Mommy, I want you guys to spend time with me."
After all, she had only just turned three years old.
She was a child. All she wanted was for her parents to spend more time with her. There was nothing wrong with that.
"Other kids' mommies can spend all their time with their kids. can't you and Daddy do the same?"
Lexi had watched many cartoons recently.
She had learned a lot of new things and learned many new perspectives on life.
"Every family is different, okay? Mommy and Daddy aren't like the other mommies and daddies you see in those cartoons. We need work because we're not just responsible for you. We're also responsible for those people who work for Mommy and Daddy.
"And why do they work for us? It's because they also need to rai their families, just like we need to earn money to raise you, our batNôvelDrama.Org holds © this.
Linda didn't know if Lexi could understand, but she told her that
anyway.
"Lexi, many people are working very hard for their own lives, includir Mommy and Daddy. We can give you a good life because we can re on Grandma and Grandpa's money, but not everyone is as lucky a we are. The reason those parents can spend so much time with the kids is because they don't have so much to worry about. They don'
have to work."
Lexi only roughly understood what she was saying. "Mommy, I stil want you and Daddy to spend more time with me." Linda picked Lexi up again and walked upstairs slowly.
"Then Mommy will promise you that I will come back whenever I'm free. I'll read stories and tuck you in bed, okay?"
Lexi wrapped her arms around Linda's neck. "Okay. Once Daddy's home, he has to do the same thing for me."
"Okay. Mommy will text Daddy about it right away."
Linda finally managed to coax Lexi to sleep. Right after Linda finished showering, Samson called.
"Was she in a good mood today?" he asked.
"I had to spend some time coddling her just now."
The sound of a car door closing came through the speaker. Samsor had probably just gotten out of a meeting with clients.
