My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna)

Chapter 2169

Chapter 2169

Drinking wine was just a cover to ease the tense atmosphere, and I was getting worried that things would become even more awkward. I filled the glasses halfway then took them and went back to sit down.

As soon as I handed the wine to Hendrix, Anne rose up from her seat.

"Mom, dad, now that I'm done talking, I'll leave you two to get your rest. If you'll excuse me."

"You're leaving?" I was a little surprised. Anne had yet to state the real reason she was here. Why was she leaving already?

Anne pressed her lips together and said with a smile, "It's been a rough day and I'm kind of sleepy now."

In this case, I wouldn't make her stay. "Well, if you're tired, go to sleep. You can sleep in tomorrow. I still believe that if you have a family to support you, you shouldn't push yourself too hard. You've always been a good daughter, you don't need to prove yourself by chasing success in business. Do you understand?"Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.

"I understand. Thank you, mom. Good night."

"Good night."

She then turned around and walked out, gently closing the door.

Hendrix acted as though nothing had happened. He held the glass in his hand and slowly shook it to sober himself up. The dim corners of his mouth curved under the lights. He looked very relaxed.

"You don't feel bad at all for hurting your daughter's heart." I deliberately teased him and drank the wine in one gulp.

Hendrix grabbed the wine glass and placed it on the table. His eyes were smiling. "Feel bad? How so? I couldn't feel any happier."

"Happy?" I was stunned. Was bullying a girl a way of expressing his love for her? "Hendrix, why don't I sign you up for a course? You should learn how to be a good father."

In the realest of senses, Anne was still a child. She couldn't be treated like another adult when it came to expressing our love and expectations. The style of authoritarian parenting and

suppressive love would elicit a

negative outcome from an adult,

nevermind a child.

"Do I still need to learn how to?" Hendrix said smugly, "Didn't you see that Anne has already returned to our side?"

"Really?" I didn't understand what he

was talking about. "But neither of you mentioned Josiah just now, didn't you? Indeed." Hendrix raised his head and took a small sip of wine. His Adam's apple bobbed тыр and down rhythmically. The bright red liquid made his lips moist. He opened his mouth slowly Anne has decided to stay silent instead of going against us and speaking up for Josiah. No one urged her or forced her to answer."

He paused at this point and turned to look at my face with a deep smile. "That is enough to show us that you and I aren't inferior to Josiah. We have a place in her heart. Isn't that worth being happy for?"

I rolled my eyes. It sounded reasonable, but not in the ordinary sense. It was more like a gamble that Hendrix won.

"Be that as it may, are we still sending Josiah away?" I asked.

Hendrix's expression changed subtly. There was less than a sip of wine left in his glass, but he stubbornly swirled the glass as if representing his own thoughts.

"Why not?" Hendrix looked blankly in front of him. "We have to spare Anne some dignity. There's a villa in the suburbs. Ask him to go there instead, as the vicinity is off-limits to him."

As I said this, he looked at me seriously which made me nervous.

It would be wrong to say that I wasn't moved, but I still teased him, "Are you sure that I'm staying at home to accompany the children and not their father?"

Hendrix chuckled and said with his deep voice. "Just take it as me hitching on the children..."
