Chapter 335
Chapter 335
There was some dim light and it seemed to be in a private room. Inside, Mr. Jones dressed in casual
clothes was talking. Because the video was taken far away, the person who spoke to him could not be
seen clearly.
Jacob narrowed his eyes and stared at the picture carefully. It was not until they finished talking and
walked out of the room together that Jacob saw who it was. He looked at Xavier in disbelief. "It's
Brandon Loong."
He was Eli's father, the most powerful gang leader in W City.
Previously, he simply knew that Rufus had something to do with Eli, but he didn't expect Mr. Gates to
have contact with Brandon.
However, Jacob soon understood something and said, "I'm afraid the channels through which Rufus
took the goods were all from Brandon... This way, we can figure out why Mr. Gates appeared in
Burma."
Xavier could figure out the connections. The more things he found, the more complicated the situation
became. If he made the Gates Family involved, he would probably be involved in more and more
things. It was getting increasingly complicated.
"Who will benefit from the collapse of the Gates Family?" Jacob asked.
It was obvious that Brandon and the Gates Family worked together for mutual benefit. No matter which
side decided to quit, it would threaten the interests of the other side.
"What should we do now?" Jacob was not sure. If these things were handed over, they would naturally
hurt the Gates Family, since now the authorities were investigating them strictly. But they would also
offend the gangs. This was equivalent to toppling the Gates Family and finding more trouble.
If they didn't do it, when Mr. Gates retreated, everything would be different again.
Xavier wasn't a coward, but it was different now. With someone he cared about, he was tied up. He had
to think about Arya.
She couldn't stand it now.
Xavier rubbed his sore eyebrows, not even raising his eyelids. "You guys go back first. Leave me alone
to think about it."
Jacob looked at Janet, who had never said a word, and signaled her. Soon, Janet took the hint and left
the room quietly with Jacob.
Jacob sent Janet away and told her, "You can choose to go abroad."
Georgina would find out sooner or later that this was a conspiracy and would definitely cause trouble
for Janet.
She could hide abroad and stay out of the limelight. She would come back when everything passed.
Janet looked ahead. When she chose this path, she was prepared to get involved in this mess.
Even if she chose to retreat now, she might not be able to leave safe and sound.
Besides, she was just the executor, so the person Georgina hated more was probably the one who
schemed against her.
"No need," Janet said.
Jacob turned to look at her and asked, "Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Well, then I'll arrange another place for you to stay. Georgina already knows where you live, so it's not
safe." Jacob said.
"Thank you, then," Janet said sincerely. Jacob had been helping her, and she was very grateful.
"You are welcome." Jacob started the car and left.
The room was so quiet that even the sound of breathing could be heard clearly. Xavier stood at the
window smoking. The darkness outside covered half of his body, and his slender figure could only be
seen vaguely seen, tall and firm.
However, at this moment, he heard a sound from the ward. He put out the cigarette and walked
towards the ward.
When he opened the door, he saw Arya lying on her side on the quilt, looking very uncomfortable.
He quickly walked over to check on Arya. He asked, "How are you feeling?"
Arya gasped. "My leg...hurt."
Leg?
Xavier was so flustered that he couldn't figure out what was going on. There was no blood there. "I'll
call the doctor right away."
Arya grabbed Xavier, who was about to leave, and told him, "No need."
"My leg cramped..." Arya said weakly.
Xavier went to rub her, touched her left leg, and then her right leg. He asked, "Which one?"
"The right." She groaned, "It hurts."Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
Xavier rubbed her leg and kissed her lips, wishing he could feel uncomfortable and hurt for her.
After a while, the cramp subsided. Arya looked up at Xavier.
"Still in pain?" Xavier touched her forehead, which was sweating. He didn't know how to comfort her.
His voice was low and hoarse, "After giving birth to this baby, we don't want another child."
Arya lay down like this, looking at Xavier's panicked handsome face, smiling and saying, "Silly."
It was just a cramp in her leg. Many pregnant women had it.
But his concern warmed her heart.
She reached out and hugged Xavier. She heard what they were saying outside, and Xavier was
worried about something. She told him, "I never wanted to be a burden on you. I wanted to be the
person you love, your closest relative, a person who faces difficulties with you. Xavier, do you
understand?"
Xavier leaned over and stared at her, unable to say anything in his heart. He just lowered his head and
kissed her lips. "How can I treat you better?"
Arya reached out and grabbed his hand tightly. She said, "No matter when, hold on to me. Don't let me
be alone, don't let me be afraid, or don't let me down. When I was a child, I only had my mother. I had
never been loved by my father. But You make up for the regret of my life. Xavier, do whatever you
want. Don't worry about me. I'll take good care of myself."
Even if Xavier took a step back, would the Gates Family take a step back?
Could it be that they thought Xavier was afraid and took advantage of him?
Xavier felt his heart churning. No one had ever spoken it to him, and no one could understand him like
that. He held Arya's hand tightly, their fingers intertwined.
During that time, Xavier was very busy and didn't come back until midnight. There was a small bed in
the ward. Arya asked someone to put it in, afraid that Xavier wouldn't have a good rest.
Because of Mr. Gates's position, the matter was not made public, but a secret investigation team was
set up.
Even if they investigated it clear, it would not be tried in public. The case was too extensive and would
not be publicized unless it was all clear.
The Gates Family did not notice how turbulent the matter was under the calm surface.
The dark sky was dotted with stars. Occasionally, there would be some shooting stars, which added a
little liveliness to the quiet night.
Arya leaned against the windowsill and looked at the stars. She could not get down and walk. The
furthest place she could go was to the windowsill when the bed was moved there. When the window
was open, she could breathe in the fresh air outside.
Nanny Joy put on a bunch of fresh flowers on the table every day to add fresh air to the room.
During the day, Ryan would come over sometimes. Most of the time, Nanny Joy could be there.
Several times, she knew that Daisy was here, but she didn't come in.
Arya actually wanted to tell Nanny Joy to call her in a few times, but she didn't know how to face her, so
she didn't say anything.
The door of the room opened. Arya thought Xavier was back and turned around with a smile. However,
it turned out the person was not Xavier, but...
