Chapter 679
Chapter 679
"Is this some new way to turn me down?"
Gilbert couldn't help but chuckle, even though he was slightly annoyed.
After being rejected by her time and time again recently, he had heard similar lines more often than he cared to admit. And given how much he had started to fancy her, he would have been livid if it wasn't for his feelings.
"Enlightened? Just around the corner?"
He let out a low, mocking laugh. "Right, I am enlightened now because I want to be with you. So why won't you give me a chance? How about making it 'just around the corner' with me?"
"..." Sherilyn was taken aback, her mouth agape.
Gilbert gave her a stern look, "I'm just making things harder for myself by saying all this. Come on, eat!"
He picked up his fork and continued to serve her food.
When Sherilyn saw the piece of meat he was offering, she balked, "Isn't that a bit too fatty?"
"Tsk." Gilbert frowned, "Where is it too much? It seems you won't touch anything with a bit of fat."
As he spoke, he picked up his knife and fork, trimmed the fatty edges off the meat, and casually tossed them into his own mouth.
Then he placed the leaner piece onto her plate, "There, not fatty anymore. Eat up."
"..." Sherilyn looked at him, momentarily at a loss for words, her appetite waning.
Lunch break was short, and once they were done eating, Gilbert drove Sherilyn back to the film set.
As the car stopped, Gilbert leaned in to hug Sherilyn.
Cupping the back of her head, he murmured, "I'll call you once I get to Twilight Bay."
He released her and helped her unbuckle her seatbelt, his gaze lingering on her, "Wait for me."
Sherilyn got out of the car and headed inside.
She could feel Gilbert's intense gaze from the car behind her...
But she didn't look back, quickening her pace and jogging into the film set.
After that day, Sherilyn's routine continued as usual between Sunset Ridge Community and the film set, nothing out of the ordinary.
One day, after finishing her scenes early, Sherilyn decided to stop by the supermarket on her way back to Sunset Ridge Community, following a shopping list Sophia had sent her.
After completing her shopping, she left the supermarket.
The bus stop was across the street, and Sherilyn, carrying her bags, walked towards the intersection.
Suddenly, a silver-gray Pagani pulled up beside her, Edgar Ferguson's car, which she recognized.
The window rolled down, revealing Edgar's handsome, scholarly face with a gentle smile, "Sherilyn. Long time no see."
"Edgar." Sherilyn returned the smile, "Indeed, it's been a while."
"Where are you headed?" Edgar glanced at the bags in her hands, "Back to Sunset Ridge Community? Let me give you a lift." "That's okay."
Sherilyn smiled, declining his offer,
"I'm taking the bus. It's just two
stops, really quick. I wouldnt want to
trouble you. You go ahead with your day."
Their relationship had become nothing more than a nodding acquaintance.
"Alright then." Edgar understood her stance, his smile tinged with bitterness, "I'll get going."
"Sure."Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
As Edgar drove off, he couldn't help but keep looking back at Sherilyn through the rearview mirror. Suddenly, his heart skipped a beat!
A black van pulled up in front of Sherilyn. The door slid open, and an arm reached out, grabbing Sherilyn and swiftly pulling her into the van!
"Sherilyn!"
Edgar was shocked, a cold sweat breaking out over him as he immediately tried to turn around.
But he was blocked by the traffic behind him!
The cars honked impatiently, "What are you doing? You can't turn here! Do you even know how to drive?"
"Move it! Don't block the road!"
Edgar was frantic, but by the time he looked again, the black van had vanished from sight!
Inside the van.
"Stop the car!"
Sherilyn, suddenly abducted, was in a panic, banging on the back of the driver's seat, "I said stop the car!"
The driver glanced at her through
the rearview mirror, "Ms. GO
you to stay calm. It'll
