Chapter 83
Chapter 83
Eve totally babies Milo, after all. He’s the kid she went through all tricks to have with Caleb.
Caleb wasn’t into Eve, but she was putting in the effort with the kid to keep Caleb on the hook.
Running up to Milo in a panic, Eve scanned the area and saw her son’s reddened cheeks, glaring at the head of the school office. “What kind of babysitting is this?”
The director quickly rose to apologize, all eagerness and flattery. “Ms. FitzGerald, it was a little scrap between two kids…” NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.
“Scrap?” Eve shot a cold glance at Kristin, and her face darkened instantly. “Kristin?”
Hugging Summer tight, Kristin looked down and tried to walk away.
“Heh… I should’ve known it was you again. You let your son hit mine, huh?” Eve’s voice sharp as she ordered the bodyguard to block the door. “Stop them!”
The bodyguard stood in the doorway, preventing Kristin from leaving. She stepped back, protecting Summer. “What do you want?”

Eve looked at Kristin, shocked, then burst into sarcastic laughter. “What trash is your son to even be in this school? Has Angelic Guard International Nursery started precision poverty alleviation? Letting in any riffraff?”
Eve frowned at the director, snapping, “You better explain to me how her son has attended here! We donate so much money to your school each year through the FitzGerald Group, and it’s for you to take
in trash?” Eve’s anger mounted.
The principal hastened to explain. “Ms. FitzGerald, please let me explain. Miss Kristin… It was Mr. FitzGerald’s instruction.”
Eve was even more shocked. “Kristin, you’re shameless, aren’t you? Seduced my brother?”
Rhett, who had never been interested in women or involved in scandals, had helped Kristin’s son get into school.
Kristin clenched her fists, stepping back with Summer.
“Oh, impressive! Getting your son to hit mine, huh? Who do you think you are?” Eve laughed mockingly, raising her hand to slap Kristin.
With her gaze turning intense and dark, Kristin caught Eve’s wrist.
“Eve, your son started with mine. We’re both mothers. Our children are our lines in the sand. Don’t cross mine.”
Eve looked at Kristin, startled, then laughed. “You’re crazy. Let go of me!”
Eve shook off Kristin’s hand with disgust. “Think you’ve got a backer now? My brother is probably briefly interested in you, a burst of charity. What are you? Everyone in Silvergrove City

knows how dirty you are.”
Kristin lowered her eyes, taking a deep breath.
“Stop badmouthing my mom!” Summer glares at Eve like a little beast ready to pounce.
Eve ruffled Milo’s hair. “Boy, how did he hit you?”
“He hit my face.” Milo pointed to his cheek.
“Kristin, for what happened today, either your son kneels and apologizes to mine, or you do. Or else, let’s see if this school will even keep your son.”
Eve watched Kristin and waited for her to kneel and beg for mercy.
Holding Summer, Kristin finally spoke up. “Summer did nothing wrong. If anyone should apologize, it’s you.”
“Kristin, you seem a bit confused about the situation here.” Eve laughed. “Do you think my brother will care about you? Or that he’ll protect your little bastard instead of his nephew?”
Kristin kept her head down. She had no intention of letting Rhett know. She couldn’t bother Rhett with every little thing.
“Apologize to me, kneel!” Spoiled, Milo carried the haughty arrogance of a young master, demanding Summer kneel before him.
Summer gripped his hands tightly, staring at Milo.
The teacher and director nearby dare not speak. On one side was the FitzGerald family’s young lady, and on the other was someone Rhett had instructed them about, but Eve seemed more significant.
After all, a rich girl and a fleeting fling were different.
“Not willing to apologize, huh?” Seeing Kristin unmoved, Eve looked at the director. “Expel this little bastard and tell all the schools in Silvergrove City. Let’s see who dares to take him!”
“But…” the director nervously wiped his sweat.
“Any problems, I’ll take the heat.” Eve snorted. “If my brother asks, tell him this little bastard injured his nephew.”
The director quickly nodded. He knew who mattered more.
Kristin’s eyes filled with tears. Facing this power–driven bullying, she was helpless, unable to resist, but she didn’t believe her son did anything wrong.
“Summer, let’s go. You did nothing wrong, so you don’t need to apologize. Even if we have to drop out of school, Mom won’t make you apologize for someone else’s mistake.” Kristin picked up Summer, making her way out with difficulty.
This nursery was top–notch, one many would kill to get into, known for grooming many a
prodigy.

But Kristin felt it was a dirty place.
She wanted to instill the correct values in her son, not vanity or power–worship.
She didn’t believe her son would get a better education at a nursery like this.
“Kristin, you’ll come begging to me eventually.” Eve’s sarcastic laughter followed them.
Kristin didn’t respond. If this nursery didn’t take them, they would find another.
“Mommy… did I cause you trouble?” Summer hugged Kristin’s neck, voice small and choked.
Kristin shook her head. “Nope. Summer is the best. It’s right to stand up when provoked, but we can’t go around hitting people for no reason.”
–
Summer’s eyes got even redder. “Mom, he hit me just now. He tore up my sketchbook, which had the drawing I made for Dad, and then he messed with my toys and hit my head with them.” Kristin’s steps froze as she held Summer, and she carefully placed Summer down by the roadside to take a closer look at his head.
Under the cover of his hair, his scalp was red and swollen with a bump.
Kristin’s eyes welled up with tears, her voice hoarse and out of control. “Why didn’t you tell Mommy at the office…”
Summer cupped Kristin’s cheeks and whispered, “I was scared Mommy would get picked on.”
Kristin bowed her head, tears falling uncontrollably.
He was only five years old, still so little. Why did he have to be so sensible? It broke Kristin’s
heart.
“I’m not scared of the bad guys, so Summer, you shouldn’t be scared either.” Kristin thought she could live her whole life in the dust, always saying yes and swallowing her pride, but not
her son.
Since she brought Summer into this world, she had to take responsibility for him.
She couldn’t let her son continue her dirty life.
She might not plan for herself, but she had to think for her son.
So, even if she had to play dirty, she was determined to break free from her current situation.
She had to use every person and resource available to claw her way out of the abyss.
“Kristin!”
A black sedan pulled up by the roadside, and the person who got off called out with urgency.
Kristin’s body stiffened, and she hugged Summer tighter in panic.
It was James. He had followed her to Silvergrove City.
Chapter 83
“Kristin…”
Bill had driven for five and a half hours and finally arrived in Silvergrove City.
He guessed Kristin would be at the school waiting for Summer.
While Summer was in the hospital, their people had gotten clear on where Summer’s school
was.
“James…” Kristin looked down, her grip around Summer tightening.
Summer looked up at James, his bright eyes filled with confusion.
“Are you Summer?” James took a deep breath to steady his emotions, his voice gentle. “I’m your dad.”
