“Kristin, how much for a night?” these men sneered.
“What are you even wearing? It’s dirty. Where’s the dress?”
“Strip off those rags quick. We like you best in your birthday suit.”
The things those people said were filthy.
Kristin felt they were dirtier than she ever could be.
“Knock it off. It’s Ruby’s birthday today,” someone whispered in a reminder.
Then, everyone finally moved to wish the birthday girl a happy one.
“Kristin, it’s your also birthday today, remember?” Ruby’s voice was faint as she mentioned it.
Kristin didn’t respond, and she was as silent as the grave.
“Cat got your tongue?” Adrienne was there, too, nudging Kristin a bit.
Kristin stumbled and fell into the arms of a guy behind her.
“Tam, check it out. Your dream girl is throwing herself at you!”
“Tam, you were all over her back in high school. Go on, man. She’s all yours for the taking now.” A few of them teased Tam.
Tam looked at Kristin with disgust, a look of disdain on his face. “Since when did I like her? Cut the crap.”
Kristin had heard too much of that.
They were all undoubtedly scoundrels, but they were blissfully ignorant of it.
In high school, Tam had been chasing her since the first year, but he was bullying her along with the rest.
“Tam, we’ll hand her to you. You can have fun with her tonight. Take her home, bro,” one of the rich kids joked with a laugh.
Vincent just watched silently, then went over to Ruby and spoke softly. “She’s here. Will you be a good girl and return to the hospital with me? No fussing.”
Ruby smiled, pleased, and reached out for Vincent to carry her.
Vincent indulged her. “Alright, I’ll carry you back to the hospital. Deal?*
Kristin just watched as Vincent ignored her and walked away with Ruby.
She wanted to leave, but Adrienne and the rich kids cornered her in the room.
This was not at all Ruby’s birthday banquet tonight. Rather, it was a raucous revelry of devils.
Vincent had sold her to these people to appease Ruby and coax her back to the hospital.
He knew they would toy with her until she broke.
“Let me go!” Kristin’s voice was hoarse, choking up.
She wanted to leave, but how could these lunatics let her?
Every moment of the bullying from her high school days and the beatings and humiliation in prison was a living hell.
“Want to leave, huh? Can’t handle the heat?” One of the rich kids blocked Kristin, pointing at a bottle on the table. “Down this bottle, and I’ll let you go.”
Tam frowned. “Don’t overdo it.”
“Look at you, pretending not to like her, Tam. If you’re into her, go for it.”
“Tam, you better give her a thorough cleaning inside and out. She’s had a kid before. Ready to play daddy?”
“Good one! Lol..”
Kristin felt unsteady, pushing people away and trying to escape.
Adrienne had someone hold Kristin down and grabbed a bottle of wine, pouring it over her head. Everyone was egging them on.
“Hey, nice figure. How can you be so skinny and still have boobs?”
Soaked through her clothes, the guys made disgusting comments.
They felt Kristin up without respect.
Kristin stood there numbly, snatching the bottle from Adrienne’s hand.
“Crash!” There came a crisp sound.
Kristin smashed the bottle over her head.
The glass shattered, and blood streamed down her forehead, dripping from her chin.
For a moment, everyone went silent.
Kristin’s voice was raspy, her eyes bloodshot red. “Is this enough?”
No one spoke. They all thought Kristin had lost it.
Kristin grabbed another bottle, ready to smash it over her head again, but Tam grabbed Kristin and threw her out. “Are you freaking insane?”
LI
Kristin wiped the blood from her eyes, and her delicate face was ghastly pale.
She turned and walked towards the door.
Finally, no one dared to stop her.
As she exited the private room, everything went black, and she fell into the strong arms of a
man.
“Save me…” Her voice was barely audible. Maybe she didn’t want to die.
“Mr. FitzGerald!” Several business partners rushed up, panicked by the sudden appearance of a drunk.
But they all got scared when they saw Rhett’s pristine white shirt covered in bloodstains.
Rhett was a real freak about germs!
Frowning, Rhett looked down at the woman who had collapsed into his arms.
Coincidence? Or had she done it on purpose?
“Mr. FitzGerald!” The assistant hurried over, trying to push Kristin away, but a subconscious gesture from Rhett stopped him.
Upon seeing Kristin’s bloodied face, Rhett experienced an unexpected knot in his stomach.
He lifted Kristin, his voice deep. “Check the room to see who’s in there and call the cops! Take her to the hospital with me!”
The business partners were stunned by Rhett’s actions.
“Doesn’t Mr. FitzGerald have a germ phobia?”
“I heard any woman approaching him gets tossed out.”
“What’s with him today? Why did he suddenly get a heart of gold?”
