Chapter 38
When Logan hung up, Karen’s expression instantly turned dark. In recent years, she was highly praised everywhere she went, which made her arrogant and proud. She had never been rejected so bluntly, especially in such a humiliating way
Nonetheless, the person who did it was Logan, the head of Moore Corporation and the prince of Glendale’s business world. Her current success was largely due to the excellent landscaping she did for
Moore Estate, which brought her fame.
She couldn’t afford to offend Logan. She needed to find another opportunity to collaborate with Moore Corporation so that Logan would treat her more kindly.
She had heard that the Moores were planning to build a resort estate in the suburbs. Tomorrow, she would go to Moore Corporation to see Logan. With her current reputation, she believed Logan would still be willing to use her designs.
Over the years, she had been improving herself and no longer resorted to the… underhanded tactics she used in the past.
Thinking about her junior, who was better than her in every way and her father’s proudest student, Karen still felt jealous.
Back then, this junior always overshadowed her and the other
students under Karen’s father. But it had been years, and Karen had made a name for herself. Her father ultimately stood by her side, using his power to suppress Karen’s junior.
Even so, every time she thought of that brilliant junior of hers, Karen was filled with envy.
After that incident, that junior left the industry and returned to her rural hometown. Karen didn’t know if she was married now.

Well, a village girl would always be a village girl. She could never outshine Karen.
When she had time, she planned to find out how that person was doing now. Karen simply hoped she was living a miserable life.

Moore Estate was a mountain estate, designed to resemble a classic garden. Everywhere one looked, there were picturesque views.
The houses in the estate were built in a vintage style, with pavilions, gazebos, winding pathways, and ornamental fountains. Walking into the Moore Estate felt like stepping back in time.
In a large, understated yet luxurious house in the center of the estate, Hestia Johnson was leaning on a redwood chaise lounge, flipping. through a stack of photographs of young women.
As she looked through the photos, she asked her eldest daughter–in- law, Joslin Dawson, who was sitting beside her, “Where did we stop
last time?”
Joslin sighed and said, “Mom, Logan has met all these ladies from distinguished families, but he doesn’t like any of them. Moreover, they don’t want to be stepmothers to his two children.”
It turned out the two were worried about Logan’s marriage.
The stack of photos in Hestia’s hand were all of young ladies from Glendale’s high society, suitable for an alliance by marriage thought not quite on par with the Moores.
Hestia felt troubled and said, “Logan is the most outstanding man in Glendale. Every unmarried woman wants to marry him, but since he has adopted Terence’s two children and treats them like his own, they’re also regarded as ours.
“Who wants to become a mother of two children right after getting

married? It’s not just that they don’t want Logan because of the two kids, but he doesn’t give them a chance either. He seems so gentle, but he has a stone of heart. I fear he’ll never marry.”
As Logan’s mother, Joslin was even more worried. She thought for a moment and said, “Mom, do you think Logan truly loves Angela?”
“Don’t you mention that woman’s name. She ruined Terence and caused Logan to remain unmarried at 31,” Hestia replied, extremely displeased with Angela.
She was usually very composed, but the mention of Angela made her angry, revealing her deep dislike.
Joslin was troubled as she continued, “But if Logan truly loves her, he might never marry or have children. Lulu and Finn are wonderful, and I love them as if they were my own grandchildren, but they are not of the Moores‘ blood.”
Hestia slammed the stack of photos onto the chaise lounge and sat up straight, her expression stern. “I would rather he remain single forever than let him be with Angela. That woman is a
seductress, a vile woman. She’s fickle and unworthy of joining our family.”
