Uncovering My Wife's Secrets

Chapter 61

Chapter 61

Chapter 61 Confession

Julian looked at Annalise gently and said, “You’re amazing, you know?”

“What’s wrong?” Annalise looked at Julian in confusion.

She had mixed feelings. Was he trying to comfort her?

She had heard everything the women downstairs said just now.

They thought that she was a bumpkin who grew up in the countryside and knew nothing. Little did they know that she had already been taken in by Joseph Quigley when she was just seven years old.

From then on, she had been learning from a few mentors, and they taught her everything they had learned in their lives.

Later on, in order for her to make a new breakthrough in her medical skills, Joseph sent her to Caspardion to study Western medicine.

Before going to Caspardion, she had mastered four foreign languages..

Coincidentally, one of them was Ferropenean.

She was shocked when she heard those women speaking in Ferropenean and how much they exaggerated.

Unexpectedly, the young mistresses of the Parks family in Jadeborough were actually the same as the middle-aged women she knew in the countryside.

Julian reached out and caressed Annalise’s cheek with his thumb. He said, “There are many ignorant and incompetent idlers in this world. They hardly do anything serious and comment on other people’s

lives every day. These people are called gossipers in real life while they are called keyboard warriors and trolls on the Internet.”

Annalise smiled. “Yes.”

She had never cared about other people’s gossip.

However, she was a little happy that he comforted her so tactfully.

At least he did not think that she was useless, like what the women thought of her!

“Your excellence is something shallow people won’t understand. In the future, no matter who says something unpleasant, don’t take it to heart. You just have to remember that you’re married to me, not anyone else. All it matters is me liking you,” Julian said.

Annalise looked at Julian.

What did he just say?

Did he like her?

Julian was also looking deeply at Annalise. He confessed, “Annie, I like you! I knew you were different from the first time I saw you.”

Annalise’s heart suddenly started beating rapidly.

Julian stared into Annalise’s eyes passionately, then he lowered his head and kissed her lips.

Annalise felt her heart beat even faster as if it was about to jump out of her chest.

His lips were gentle, soft, and a little warm. She actually didn’t feel repulsed at all.

He hugged her waist and pulled her into his arms.

She returned his kiss softly, and he became even more aroused.

The gentle kiss suddenly became hot and heavy.

The light shone on them, softening the atmosphere in the room.

However, her cell phone suddenly rang.

Annalise quickly came back to her senses. She pushed Julian away shyly while saying, “I’ll answer the call.”

She immediately took her cell phone and went to the window to answer the call.

It was an unknown number, but she still picked it up. “Hello, who is this?”

Her cheeks and ears were burning. She reached out and touched her ears.

“Anna, it’s me!” Benjamin’s voice sounded.

Annalise felt as if a bucket of cold water had just been poured onto her. The heat inside her subsided and her chaotic heartbeat instantly calmed down. Her expression also darkened.

She had barely thought about the past for the past two days. She had already tried her best to forget about the past, but Benjamin called her again.

This made her originally good mood turn sour. She was not sad, but she felt frustrated and other indescribable emotions.

She suddenly felt that she could not handle relationships well.

She had been getting along very well with Julian these days. She had already decided to try and start a new relationship with him.

Even if the outcome might not be satisfactory, she still wanted to give it a try.

As soon as Benjamin’s voice sounded, she suddenly felt that it was disrespectful to Julian to start a relationship with him right after she ended her last relationship.

She was about to hang up angrily.

Benjamin’s voice could be heard again. “Anna, don’t hang up.”

Annalise frowned and said in an unpleasant tone, “What else do you want?”

“Anna, I was wrong. Let’s start over…”

Click!

Annalise hung up the phone in disgust.

She should have hung up the moment she heard his voice.

She thought that he would say something else, but he said the same thing again.

This only made her more frustrated and disgusted. It also made her feel that she had been too blind in the past. She had to be careful when it came to relationships and not start one so easily. At the very least, she had to get to know the other person better before she started a relationship with them.

Behind her, Julian hugged Annalise.

Annalise suddenly froze, and the next second, she pushed Julian away. “I’m sorry!”

She hurried to the bathroom, locked the door, turned on the tap, and kept slapping water onto her face. Her eyes were a little teary.

She felt rather sorrowful.

Her heart ached for her past self.

She also felt a little confused.

She suddenly asked herself, “Do I know Julian?”

“Should I really start a new relationship with him?”

“Would I repeat the same mistake if I rashly decided to fall in love just because I felt a little moved?”

She took a few deep breaths and looked at herself in the mirror. She then muttered to herself, “Annalise, don’t be anxious. If it’s really fate, it will withstand the test.”

“Annie!” Seeing that Annalise had not come out even after a long time, Julian shouted from outside the door. ‘I’m fine. I’ll be right out,” Annalise replied.

When she came out, she had already composed herself and looked very calm. Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

However, the atmosphere between the two of them earlier was no longer there.

It was as if there was an invisible wall separating them.

Julian knew what was going on, but he only smiled gently and reached his hand out to Annalise. “Let’s go downstairs for dinner.”

“Yes, let’s go.” Annalise pretended not to see Julian’s hand and led the way instead.

She wasn’t being pretentious, but she wanted to give herself some time. She wanted to know Julian a little better.

Dinner was very lively because Samuel was present. No one dared to act rashly, so it was a relatively harmonious dinner.

At some point, Jane started speaking Ferropenean again. She said that it was Samuel’s birthday party soon. and she hoped that Annalise would not embarrass the Parks family, lest they felt embarrassed as well. Jessy said that unless Annalise did not attend the party, Annalise’s presence would be embarrassing enough even if she didn’t say a word.

Samuel didn’t understand Ferropenean, but he knew that they were definitely not saying something nice. Otherwise, why didn’t they speak Chanaease?

He put down his plate heavily and said sternly. “Don’t talk when you’re eating. Are your mouths not busy enough?”

Jane, Jessy, and the others were so frightened that they did not dare to make another sound.

At 8.00 p.m., Julian dragged Annalise out for a run.

Annalise was reluctant. “I don’t really feel like running.”

“Come on. I would like you to accompany me. Let’s go to the riverside for some fresh air.” Julian brought Annalise to the riverside for a run.

He had never been in a relationship, but he knew that people who just broke up with someone would be sad for a period of time no matter what the reason was.

Even though her rationality told her that it was not worth it to get upset, she still could not help it. After investing feelings into a person, once the person let her down, it would hurt.

This was especially true for a first relationship-it was the purest, most invested, and most unreserved one. He regretted that he was not Annalise’s first love. He could only work hard to be her last.

“Come on, let’s run!” When they reached the riverside, Julian gradually sped up after warming up. He realized that Annalise’s stamina was actually quite good. She ran without panting at all, so he encouraged her to run faster.
