Uncontrollable Fondness

Chapter 43 Sophia’s true colors (2)

Chapter 43 Sophia’s true colors (2)

In their hands were bags of gifts and were clearly here to visit Sophia. The person who woke Mia up

was Mindy Sails. She raised her beautifully tattooed eyebrows and glared at her. Her facial features did

not resemble Sophia but they shared the same fury.

“Oh!” Mia stood up in a hurry and dropped her handheld fan. She quickly twisted the cover and the

steam shot to her wrist and her fingertips could feel the temperature. She winced in pain as she flung

the lid and it dropped to the ground with a clank.

“What the hell are you doing! Don’t you have eyes?” Teddy yelled in anger.

Mia couldn’t believe her eyes and looked at them. Weren’t they the kind and compassionate couple on

the television? How was it they turned into such cold and heartless people in real life?

Her fingertips and wrist were painful like they had been slit but these two weren’t a bit concerned.

Mindy raised her wristwatch and yelled, “What time is it and this medicine hasn’t been served? Do you

know how to do your work? Where’s Rebecca?”

Rebecca ran out of the house and greeted the two of them. Mindy continued to criticize Mia and

Rebecca glared coldly at her. She lowered her head and said, “I’m sorry.” After then she ordered for a

clean bowl to dish out the medicine.

“Thanks, I’ll serve the medicine,” Mia said to Rebecca with a slight smile. Rebecca continued to glare at

Mia and took the bowl of medicine and walked in with the couple.

They reached Sophia’s room and Mindy glared at Rebecca and took over the bowl and walked to

Sophia, “Honey, come, drink this medicine.”

Sophia was weak and her eyes were swollen and red. She leaned on the headrest and breathe weakly.

Mindy yelled immediately, “What! Honey, why do you look so weak! Didn’t you have a good rest last

night?”

Sophia shook her head weakly and calmly look at Mindy and said, “Nothing.”

Teddy walked over to Sophia and saw her weak condition, “You look very weak, is there anything

wrong with your body? Let’s go to the hospital immediately.” Teddy frowned and looked more worried

than Mindy. He seemed more genuinely concerned about Sophia. But after seeing how they treated her

a moment ago, Mia felt that they were all fake and were wearing a face mask.

Rebecca looked over at Mia, “What happened? Haven’t you been taking care of Missus? Why is she so

weak?”

Mindy turned and went to Mia. She raised her voice and yelled, “What’s wrong with you! We pay you to

take care of Sophia, are you sure you know what you need to do? Are you able to bear the

responsibility if something happens to my Sophia?”

Mia was questioned until she didn’t know what to say. She held onto the medicine, stood in place, and

bit her lips. How can she tell them that in order to torture Mia, Sophia was torturing herself?

Teddy saw the comfortable bed and the food on the table. He then looked at Mia and accused, “Sophia

treated you so well and you dare to do these? What! This is unacceptable. I must tell William

immediately!” He picked up his phone and dialed.

Can she say that she didn’t sleep and eat? Can she say that she was so tired she is on the verge of

collapsing and hungry that she saw stars? Will anyone believe her?

Teddy and Mindy were abnormally concerned for their daughter and seemed exaggerated. They will

never hear her explanation, not to mention whether they will believe her.

Sophia called out to Teddy, “Dad, I’m okay.” But she didn’t prevent Teddy from calling, instead, she

looked coldly at Mia with an evil smile.

This was her revenge! She heard Teddy complaining about her through the phone and Mia was

heartbroken. She suppressed her tears from rolling down her cheeks.

Mindy circled around Sophia while scolding Mia. After Teddy was done with the call he continued to

lecture Rebecca and ordered her to contact the doctor.

Mia was driven out of the room by Mindy. She rubbed her eyes and she was increasingly weak as she

went down the stairs. She was becoming dizzy as she went down and then she bumped into a person.

She lifted her head and in her daze, she saw that the person was Rebecca with her expressionless

face. Her black colored suit was stiff and cold, just like her personality.

Rebecca just received a call. She didn’t blame her nor push her away. She led Mia to the dining hall

and left. Mia felt that her head was spinning and her stomach hurt. She couldn’t handle it anymore. She

slumped on the table and can’t move an inch as if she had died.

Footsteps sounded and Rebecca patted her shoulder and coldly said, “Eat this bowl of porridge.

Professor Davies will be here soon. You don’t have to be around. Go and rest.”

“Thanks.” The tears that were forcible held back started to flow when she received Rebecca’s

kindness. Rebecca didn’t seem to see them as she turned and left. Looking at the back of Rebecca,

Mia no longer felt that she was cold and heartless.

She felt much better after eating something and she could go back upstairs. When she went up, she

realized that she didn’t have a room. Even her bed was in Sophia’s room.

She went to the room that she previously stayed in. She twisted the doorknob and it wasn’t locked. She

slowly entered. She looked at herself in a huge mirror and she was shocked.

Her eyes were sunken, she had dark circles around her eyes and eye bags. Her hair was in a mess.

Was that her? She looked like she can collapse at any moment. Her frail body can be blown off by a

gust of wind. Though she just walked a few steps, she was already panting and breathing was itself a

chore.

She struggled onto the bed and lay like a corpse on the bed.

After the outsiders left, Sophia pulled a face and tossed the bowl from Mindy. She said coldly and

calmly, “They had left, say what you want.”

Mindy and Teddy looked at each other awkwardly and Mindy went forward to hold onto Sophia’s hand,

“Sophia honey, come on, I’m here with your father to visit you. If we didn’t come, no one will know that

you’ve been harmed by that nurse…”

“Enough!” Sophia rolled her eyes impatiently, “Don’t I know what kind of people you are? Will you be

here if you don’t need anything?”

“Sophia, how can you say that!” Teddy remarked, “no matter what you are our daughter, although you

are adopted, we have always treated you as our own. It’s our duty to come and visit you.”

Sophia didn’t show a bit of gratitude and her expression was even colder, “If it wasn’t for bidding for © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

that piece of land in the west city and trying to impress the authorities, would you have adopted me? If I

didn’t get William to like me, will you treat me as your own?”

“Oh, daughter, must you be like …”

Mindy appeared to be hurt causing Sophia to be disgusted and said, “Whatever, just go away, I need to

rest.”

“Quickly say it.” Teddy pushed Mindy with a look. Mindy took out an invitation card and gave it to

Sophia, “Well, it’s this…”

......

This bottomless pit. She doesn’t know how she came and she doesn’t know where she was from. But

now she had fallen into this pit and she kept falling, kept falling.

Thud! The body impacted and the pain radiated. Was she at the bottom of the pit? Why didn’t she die

and but now she was so awake? She opened her dazed eyes and Mia found herself on the ground. Did

she fall or was she thrown? When her vision cleared, a tall body stood over her. His hand gripped

tightly and she felt the pain between her arms.

William was finally back.

She knew that this was only the beginning and there were far more cruel actions to come because she

had harmed his beloved Sophia!

Does she need to explain? Will he listen to her explanation? That his kind and gentle Sophia was

actually a ruthless two-faced woman. Will he believe it? No, certainly not. If she said it, it would be like

what Sophia said, William will take her as a liar and she can only await her doom.

Mia can only calm herself and sit on the floor and brace herself. She lifted her head and said, “Just

punish me as you want.”

William’s furious face twitched and deformed. He couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw the woman

before him. This was her attitude? He had expected to hear a bunch of explanations only to receive this

one sentence. She admitted to it, she actually admitted to it. Damn it, she really dared to do such

despicable actions to his Sophia.

He leaned over, grabbed her, and swung…

The huge inertia caused Mia to fly. Her instincts made her protect her abdomen as she landed heavier

than expected. She crashed into the glass panel and fell together with the shattered glass.

She lay on the ground and coughed violently but she started to laugh sarcastically.

What’s so funny! William was even more furious.

When she recovered her strength, she curled up to protect her abdomen.

Did she think that her baby will survive if she died?

William went forward and lifted her up high. This time he didn’t throw but looked at the pitiful face as he

clenched his teeth until his veins popped and shouted, “Speak up! Why do you want to hurt Sophia!”

The dazed eyes finally focused on William’s murderous face and she softly said, “if I said that I didn’t

hurt her, will you believe?”

Do you believe it? Will you believe it? Those big eyes stared directly into his face. The eyes were

steady, no regrets, no fear, and yet gave him a startling feeling.

She said: If I said that I had never hurt her, will you believe it?

At that short moment, this sentence had spun around William’s head for countless times. He can

disregard Teddy, he can disbelieve Mindy, but he can not disbelieve Sophia and his own eyes!
