Chapter 224 Something Happened
“I didn’t expect them to do such things while I was unconscious. What should I do if I get…’
”
Emilee sobbed in sorrow and despair. She was upset. Her mind was racing, and she didn’t dare to think or do anything.
Amelie felt sorry for her and swiftly hugged her, but she was speechless.
Gradually, Emilee’s emotions calmed down.
Amelie sighed with relief. RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
“For the time being, don’t think about these things and have some rest.”
Amelie escorted her to bedroom.
After watching her close her eyes and fall asleep, she finally felt at ease and left the room.
Amelie sat down on the sofa in the living room.
She took out her phone immediately to contact Jeff. She needed to find the person who was threatening Emilee as soon as possible to prevent those images from being leaked.
However, when Amelie opened the private chat with Jeff, she hesitated.
She realized that it might not be appropriate to let more people know about this.
Thinking of this, she stood up and picked up Emilee’s phone, scrolling to the number on the message.
It was an unfamiliar number. Since she couldn’t let outsiders know, she could try it herself, even if it meant making a
transaction.
After thinking it over, she dialed the unfamiliar phone number.
The phone rang and rang, but no one answered.
Feeling uneasy after hanging up, Amelie thought for a while before calling the number again.
This time, someone answered the phone. She quickly grabbed her phone, her nerves already on edge.
“Hello? Who are you and why did you do all this to Emilee!”
Facing Amelie’s questioning, there was no reply from the other end of the phone.
She completely broke down.
“Say something! I’m telling you, no matter how much you try to hide, you won’t be able to escape. I won’t let you off easily. If you have any demands, you can bring them up. I can deliver.”
Amelie was momentarily flustered and almost lost her composure.
Although there was no voice on the other end of the phone, Amelie could hear the faint sound of a train whistle.
At first, she thought she had misheard, but after a while, she realized that the person was probably near the railroad.
“Talk to me!”
She pressed for more information, trying to get any clues.
The phone suddenly hung up.
Staring at her phone, Amelie couldn’t help but think about how she could dismember the person who had just called.
After considerations, she sent a text message saying, “I can fulfill any of your requests, as long as you destroy all the photos.” Amelie reclined back on the sofa and closed her eyes to slumber after reading the message.
She was puzzled right now, and she thought she was unlucky enough, but she didn’t anticipate that her best friend would be in a situation like that.
She deeply regreted not rescuing Emilee in time.
The next morning came quickly, and Emilee, who was feeling low, finally slept soundly for the night.
Amelie had been sleeping on the couch, watching over her, afraid that something unexpected might happen.
When she opened her eyes and looked at the time, it was already late, so she quickly got up and dragged her tired body to the bedroom. But she was shocked to find that Emilee was not there.
Amelie became anxious when she saw the empty bed.
“Emilee, where are you?!”
She quickly turned around to go look for her.
She checked every room but still couldn’t find her.
Amelie hastily put on her coat and was ready to leave.
But as soon as she opened the door, she heard a disturbance outside and turned to see Emilee.
“Why are you here? You scared the crap out of me!”
Amelie quickly walked up to her and held her hand.
“I just wanted to see the scenery outside.”
“You shouldn’t come here just to see the scenery.”
Outside the apartment was a long corridor, and on the other side of the corridor was a large floor–to– ceiling window.
Amelie was terrified as she looked at the large floor–to–ceiling window. She was afraid that Emilee might suddenly lose control, as the window was very dangerous. If she fell from the upper floor, her life would be at risk.
Emilee didn’t answer, but obediently went back into the room.
Amelie trailed following her, not daring to say anything else.
She assisted Emilee in sitting on the sofa.
“I’ll go make you some breakfast, so just wait for me here.”
She remarked softly before turning on the television and entering the kitchen.
She reasoned that turning on the television would distract Emilee’s attention.
Amelie busied herself in the kitchen, and the perfume of the food quickly filled the air. Despite the fact that it was only
breakfast, she had prepared a range of meals for a balanced diet, which was a little wasteful for just the two of them.
She didn’t have a good grasp of how much to make and felt a bit awkward.
“I don’t know what you still like to eat now, but I’ve made everything you used to like. Just eat what makes you happy this time, don’t think too much about anything else.”
Amelie’s objective was to purposefully change the subject in the hopes of forgetting about it.
Emilee didn’t say anything, but she ate her dish with gusto.
After the meal, Emilee went back to her room. Amelie felt helpless watching her not say anything.
She didn’t want to bother her and could only stay outside.
She checked her phone and discovered that the unknown number had texted her.
She promptly opened it and realized that the message had only an address and no request.
She shut her phone and clutched it hard in her hand, unable to make a choice.
Amelie had no idea what the individual expected from her. Could it possibly be for her?
She put away her phone and wasn’t ready to go directly to the address. She was intending to observe the situation first.
At that moment, Lamont was resting in his villa. He had planned to visit Amelie that day but was delayed by work and hadn’t contacted her yet.
He was about to go after finishing his work, but as soon as he opened the door, he saw Leila, who had been waiting for him for quite some time.
“Lamont, where are you heading to?”
Lamont’s demeanor altered abruptly, and he glanced at her with disgust.
“What do you want? What are you doing here?”
Lamont asked back directly.
Although Leila had managed to move into his villa using some tricks, she was still driven out by him, and even now, she couldn’t even enter the villa’s gate.
“I just wanted to see you because I missed you. And how could you be so heartless? I came to put our engagement on the calendar.”
