Chapter 322 He Couldn't Accept It
"Was Finley really that ugly?" "Absolutely."
The employees downstairs engaged in animated discussions about Samantha, completely oblivious to her thoughts. Meanwhile, she stood before the bloodied Sylvan, pouring him a glass of water and placing it gently in front of him. "Are you okay?" she asked, concern etched on her face.
Sylvan tightened his grip on the cup without uttering a word. Samantha turned to her assistant, her voice steady and commanding. "Go and get Sylvan a change of clothes." "Understood, Ms. Wallace," the assistant replied, hurrying off.
Once her assistant had left, Samantha resumed her inquiry. "You came to see me today for a reason, didn't you? Is there something you need my help with?"Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
"I..." Sylvan hesitated, grappling with the weight of his words. "What I'm about to say might sound like I've gone overboard, but my hands are tied."
She offered a gentle smile. "I've heard much worse. So, whatever you wish to say, feel free."
"Could you lend me some money?"
Samantha's expression shifted slightly. "How much do you need?"
He once again tightened his grip on the cup, his knuckles whitening. "That would be 200,000."
"Alright," she responded without a moment's hesitation. Rising to her feet, she moved to a nearby table and wrote out a check, placing it before him. "Here's 300 thousand. I may not know the specifics of your situation, but I know you, Sylvan. You are never one to ask for help. It must be serious if you find yourself in a position where you must."
Sylvan stared at the check she had placed before him. "We've only met once, and I treated you poorly during that meeting. Now, here I am, asking to borrow 200,000. I came with no hope, considering we're not acquainted. Yet, you not only agreed to lend me money but even offered me 300 thousand. Samantha, do you realize that with my current income, it would take me decades to repay you the amount?"
"It doesn't matter. You can take as long as you need to pay me back. I won't charge you interest."
Sylvan was at a loss for words.
"Shouldn't you draw up a contract now? To make me your company's artist?" he asked, half-jokingly.
Samantha chuckled softly. "If I did that, it would mean my lending you money was a business transaction. I know you're not ready to return to the stage yet. I won't pressure you into signing just because I lent you 800 thousand. I told you I would wait for you when you're ready and willing to sign.

"For now, take the money for your urgent needs. Consider it a friend helping you out. I don't need a promissory note. I don't need interest from you, either, I trust you. It's like I believe that the person in that video wasn't you."
Samantha's words struck a chord deep within Sylvan. Ever since his incident, no one had believed in him. He found himself unable to explain, yet he yearned for the faith of a once dear friend. Most of all, he longed for the trust of the woman he loved. Yet, she had left him the moment he fell from grace, refusing to believe him, unwilling to listen to his explanations. If he had to pinpoint the most regrettable decision he had made after losing everything, it was this: his unwillingness to accept his circumstances. He regretted not being able to explain himself at the time, which led to the current predicament he found himself in.
He had once believed that Nickson would come to his senses. Yet, Nickson had only become more brazen, using Sylvan's identity to engage in unspeakable acts outside. Sylvan had lost everything, yet Nickson continued to exploit him.
If he were to regain anything, he feared to imagine what Nickson might do next.
