Chapter 23: The basement
CHAPTER TWENTY THREE.
Christine Pov.
“Holy crap! The basement? How will he want you to go to such a deadly place?
The basement is an abandoned building for years that’s yet to undergo complete construction of it.
It’s a place where polluted chemicals were poured into the place and it’s as oily and stinking as fuck!
What did you do this time around Christine?”
Laurel told me and I felt chills cover my whole skin.
Why in the world would Fanuel want me to go to an uncompleted basement covered with chemicals? Does he hate me that much? Any drop on my skin can destroy my body! what is wrong with him, why does it get so monstrous each day he sights me?
“Christine what did you do again?”
Laurel shook my hands.NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
“It was past midnight when I thought I could take a walk, you know my love for this aesthetic building so I kept walking and glancing at anything and any door that comes my way.
I kept checking doors upon doors until I saw a particular one that was opened and I foolishly peeked inside and that is where my curiosity has landed me.
I mistakenly tore the book he warned me about after I collided with his brother while leaving the room.
Now here I am about to go into a suicide mission and I don’t know what to do, even though he has warned me not to try such shit, Fanuel Hudson won’t take any of that, that guy is a psychopath. He just wants the horrifying part of me to diminish.”
“Babe, you need to be extremely careful. I almost passed out when I heard the news about you getting married to him. How will you survive with such shitty person?”
“I really don’t know Laurel but this is my only chance of getting freed by him, there’s a very slim chance of my father being found or him coming back forever so I better take this risk and get the hell out of this place.”
“Wishing you the very best and you better get going before you get caught. You are not allowed in here, you’re meant to be in the interior part of the room always except if you were sent an errand downstairs I wouldn’t want Fanuel to double the punishment given to you.”
“No! you know why I took the risk to come and see you here so stop pretending as if you don’t know why I’m here.”
“Christine, whatever you think I know it’s totally wrong. I don’t know whatever is in your mind, I took the necklace actually I just want you to be careful.”
“Why should I be careful and how do you know that I was here for the necklace?
I knew something was off about that necklace Laurel, is there anything you’re hiding from me?”
“I’m hiding nothing from you Christine and even if I am , I can’t tell you shit right now, I just want you to go and be careful.
One innocent dove around you might be carrying dangerous venom which might sting you to death.
Christine please , I need you to go right now.”
Laurel said dismissively, I know she’s trying to protect me but at the same time she’s hiding something from me which I will soon find out no matter what happens.
I nodded at her and came out from the exterior boys quarters mansion. It’s still so beautiful, the only difference is that Laurel isn’t with me and I miss every bit of her.
I sighed in depression as I came out from the building slowly, I felt an invisible force as someone dragged me from nowhere and we hid at the back of the building.
“What the heck are you doing here? Do you want Fanuel to unleash his terror on you?”
I gasped in surprise as I saw his friend, Edward.
His hands were wrapped around my waist and his body was hovering over me covering me in the process.
“This place is out of bounds for maids in the interior room, please stay here until Fanuel gets inside”.
I nodded shakily as I stared at him, I blushed hard at the position we were.
I couldn’t even say anything because his hands were clasps over my mouth.
His phone’s ringing tone blazed loudly and he cursed.
“Shit! It’s Fanuel.”
He pushed me to his back as he went out to receive the call. I panicked in fear as I imagined what Fanuel would do if he saw me here. He was getting scarier by the day and I’m yet to finish my first Lucifer’s mission.
“He’s gone, you can come out now” He said smiling at me.
“Thank you”
“Ouch! I’m hurt.”
“Really why?”
“I was thinking you would call me pretty like the last time ”
“But your name isn’t pretty, I said that because you look pretty.”
He bit his lips and laughed when I said that.
“I was only joking, you didn’t have to explain why you called me that.”
“I have to explain pretty things for a pretty person, I’m sorry but I have to go.”
“Are you avoiding me? You’re always getting out of my sight.”
“I’m sorry, but it’s not in my place to talk to Mr Fanuel’s friend, especially for a long time.”
“Why.”
“Cause he’s my boss.”
“And you think I can’t be your boss?”
“I never said so.”
“You think I can’t give orders too.”
“I’m sorry Edward but I have to go right now. The Punishment I have is already a scary one, adding another one to it would be disastrous.”
I told him and I walked away from him but he held my hand.
“Punishment?”
“Yeah”
“Really? Is it not just cleaning his room or doing the dishes or scrubbing the floor or any menial chores?”
“I wish”
“Really so what punishment? Washing his cars?”
“I would have been delighted”
“Can you just tell me?”
“Mr Edward, your friend is waiting inside…nothing will change if I tell you, it’s likely you might worsen the situation.”
“Gosh!! Really.”
“Hmmm…maybe”
“I can’t believe you hate me that much.”
“I’m cleaning up the basement, happy now?”
“Holy Ghost blood!! What?”
“Please drop that face, it’s scary”
“I’m coming with you”
He said and I stared at him in shock.
