The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 167

Jenny's face turned pale with fear. "It's real, I swear! Look at the book! It's the real deal. I learned all my medical skills from it," she pleaded, desperate to make Liam believe her. Her voice trembled as she spoke, sensing the danger that lurked behind his disbelief.

In her mind, she cursed herself for challenging Liam's medical skills. Just when it seemed like they could get rid of Liam, she pulled him back into their lives. She silently berated herself.

Liam waved the book in the air. "Your brother just cured facial neuritis with steam, and that treatment isn't even in the book. How do you explain that?" he demanded.

Jenny's heart pounded as she realized that one wrong word could plunge her and Cosmo into grave danger.

Jenny quickly made up an explanation. "Cosmo spent a lot of his time with my grandfather. Maybe he learned it from him. Please, you have to believe me. The book I gave you is the real deal.

"I swear, if I'm lying to you I will never find peace. Let lightning strike me down, or let a car hit me the next time I step outside."

She staked her very life to gain Liam's trust.

Liam's expression shifted into a sinister smirk. "You speak boldly, so I'll believe you. I can see you're telling the truth. I'm a kind person who values and respects women. But your brother's skills... they're extraordinary. "He can't waste them here. He needs to be in a place where his unique abilities can be fully utilized."

Upon hearing the first part of Liam's words, Jenny's expression relaxed a little. But as he continued, a chill ran down her spine.

She asked as her voice trembled, "You... you want him to leave this place, and bring him to your country?"

Liam nodded, "That's right. I need to take him with me."

Jenny felt the world spin around her. She nearly collapsed but caught herself on the edge of the desk.

Taking a deep breath to steady herself, she pleaded, "Cosmo is just a child. He's never been outside Lambda City, let alone the country. He's too young. Please, take me instead. I'll go with you."

Liam chuckled. "Oh, so you wanna come along. Well, the both of you can come."

The gravity of Liam's intentions hit Jenny like a punch. She quickly rushed to Cosmo's side, placing herself protectively in front of him.

She turned to Matthew and said urgently, "Matt, he has too many people. If you can leave, please take Cosmo with you. Just take him with you and forget about me. Can you do that?"

Matthew had been watching Jenny silently, his plans now thrown into chaos by Jenny's desperate plea. Irritated, he snapped, "No! I can't..."

Jenny's body trembled as she turned to him with a surprised expression. But quickly, she understood something.

"I don't blame you. They outnumber us, and risking your life for Cosmo isn't fair. But please, once you're out, call the police."

Liam burst into laughter. "Do you

really think he can help you? He'szin no position to save himself, let alone anyone else. Jenny, I've tried to be polite. Don't force me to resort to violence if you resist."

The fear that had been overwhelming Jenny began to ebb away, replaced by anger and resentment.

Her voice rose, defiant and scathing. "Polite? Do you call this politeness? You're a hypocrite! You snatched Medieval Medicine, and now you want to take my brother and me with you by force. You're not even human-you're a monster, a beast!"

Liam was momentarily stunned by Jenny's outburst, but his face quickly turned a livid shade of purple.

"You have a lot of nerve, woman," he

snarled, his voice dripping with

menace. Do you know what kind women Nike? The ones who

of

struggle fiercely and the ones who fight back with spirit. Oh, how you excite me!

"Tie her up! I'm going to enjoy this feisty one back home."

At his command, four burly bodyguards advanced menacingly toward Jenny.

"Matt, forget about my brother, just save yourself! Please, just escape and call the police, would you?" Jenny pleaded. Matthew's reply was cold and firm. "No."

The words struck Jenny like a bolt of lightning. He was their last hope for rescue, and now even that was being denied.

She felt utterly shattered and asked, her voice breaking, "Why won't you call the police to help us? I can hold them off so you can get away."

Before she could finish, Matthew grabbed her arm and pulled her sharply behind him, almost throwing her off balance.

"Because I can protect the both of you," he said with determination.

What? Jenny stared at Matthew's back, his towering figure seemed like a mountain.
