Chapter 162
Tracy walked in. "Ms. Carter, Oh, you're here too, Mr. Grant."
Matthew sat silently, choosing to ignore Tracy as she was always being sarcastic.
Upon seeing Matthew's silence, Tracy smirked. "Ms. Carter doesn't have any plans today. You can wait in the lounge at the logistics department."
With a sniff, Tracy remarked, "Oh, is this the new coffee? It smells quite good." Without waiting for a response, she lifted the cup and took a sip.
Rachel wanted to warn her that Matthew had drunk from it, but before she could intervene, it was too late. Tracy had already taken a sip. Her pretty face immediately twisted into an odd expression. Matthew watched in astonishment as Tracy finished drinking coffee.
She then smacked her lips and nodded approvingly, "Mhm, this is the best coffee I've ever had. It's so delicious."
Tracy noticed Matthew's bewildered gaze and added boldly, "What are you staring at? Haven't you ever had coffee before?"
Matthew's expression was odd. "I've had it before. It does taste good." With that, he turned and left.
Tracy pointed at Matthew's back and asked Rachel, "Rae, wasn't this coffee just delivered? Did he drink from it?"
Rachel blushed, "Yes. He took a sip and left it on the table. Then you came, picked it up, and drank from it."
Huh? Tracy instantly understood what had happened. "So you're saying I drank from the cup he used? Why didn't you tell me sooner?"
Rachel looked apologetic. "You drank from it before I had the chance to tell you."
Tracy stomped her foot in frustration before storming off. At the door, she yelled, "Tell Matthew that I've learned martial arts. Don't let me catch him, or I'll show him my wrath. Hmph!" Rachel sighed, knowing that Tracy had a thing for holding grudges. That meant she wouldn't let today's incident slide.
In the general clinic, Jenny was arranging medicines in the cabinet while Cosmo sat beside her doing homework.
Matthew walked in. "Has anyone come to collect that book yet?"
Jenny pulled a chair out for Matthew to sit on. "No one has shown up yet. Do you think the people from Red Wolves scared them off?"
Matthew shook his head. "No way. Let's give it a bit more time. I have a question for you. Where did your grandfather enjoy spending time the most?"
Before Jenny could respond, Cosmo
chimed in, "The old mansion. He visited that place every week. Sometimes he'd tell me about the importance of remembering our roots and told us to visit the place regularly if we were ever bored."
Once a week? Matthew sensed something peculiar. Even for someone who loved nostalgia, such frequent visits to the old mansion seemed unusual. Could Medieval Medicine be there? Just as Matthew was contemplating whether to make a trip there, two cars pulled up at the entrance, and five people got out of the car.
The person leading the group
seemed like he was in his 40s. He
was dressed in a white shirt with neatly combed hair. Four burly men followed closely behind him like bodyguards. en
Upon entering the clinic, the man scanned Jenny, Cosmo, and Matthew before approaching Jenny. "Excuse me, are you Ms. Reed?"
Jenny furrowed her brow, finding the address "miss" rather awkward. "Yes, I am. May I know who you are?"
The man smiled. "My name is Liam Higgs. You can call me Liam. It's a pleasure to meet you."
Matthew's curiosity was piqued. The man didn't seem like a patient or someone after Medieval Medicine. Instead, he appeared more like a relative, given his overly polite attitude.
The man took a seat across the consultation desk, sitting quietly like any other patient.
Jenny's wariness from earlier faded. She had expected him to be after Medieval Medicine with their imposing presence. However, since he was incredibly polite, she calmed down.
"How can I help you? Are you or someone in your family unwell?" she asked politely, avoiding mentioning the word "illness".
Liam shook his head. "I'll get straight to the point. I heard you have a copy of Medieval Medicine here. I'm interested in it and would like to study it at home."
Jenny's smile froze and stared at Liam in surprise. Despite his courteous manner, he was indeed here for Medieval Medicine.
Glancing at Matthew for a cue, she noticed him blinking subtly and making a discreet pushing motion with his hand.
She instantly understood him he was signaling her to hand over the fake copy of Medieval Medicine.
Without hesitation, she reached into the drawer and pulled out the fake copy, tossing it casually to Liam. "If you want it, you have have it!"Belongs to © n0velDrama.Org.
Liam caught the book, his mouth agape in shock. "You... you're giving it to me? For free? No payment, no conditions?"
He was stunned. Medieval Medicine was worth hundreds of millions, and she handed it over just like that, without even giving it a second thought. He could hardly believe it.
