Chapter 283

Chapter 283

“Mommy?” Deborah turned to her right.

“Hi, James,” Deborah said, opening her arms for James to hug her and sit next to her.

“What are you doing?” he asked, looking around.

“I’m talking to your grandma.”

“Oh,” he said, smiling.

“Mommy, can you help us?” Elizabeth asked, showing her a notebook.

“Of course, let’s see what you need,” Deborah said, adjusting her seat to help her kids with their homework.

When the clock struck five in the afternoon, Jayden came home, looking tired but trying to put on a smile for his family.

As he entered the house, he noticed it was quiet, which was very unusual… it was usually noisy in the afternoons with the kids playing in the living room with their pets.

“Um… Cassie, where are my wife and kids?” he asked the girl cleaning the living room.

“Good afternoon, sir. Um… aren’t they in their rooms?”

“Right, I’ll go check,” he said, heading to the bedrooms.

“Sir,” the butler called to him, “they’re in Ms. Alexandra’s greenhouse.”

“Thanks,” Jayden said, heading to the garden. When he entered, he saw the pets comfortably sleeping among the plants, confirming his family was there.

As he approached the resting area in the center, he saw Deborah standing, looking at the couch,

Jayden was startled by this and rubbed his eyes hard to look again, only to find no one there.

On instinct, he ran to the couch, and when he got there, he saw all three of them sleeping, covered by a blanket.

He looked up at the locket, which was shining with the sunlight filtering through the ceiling.

“Thank you for watching over all five–or rather, all seven of them,” Jayden said, feeling the pets starting

to rub against his legs. “You two were watching them too,” he said, kneeling to pet them.

Chip meowed and Felix barked in response.

“Hmm* Jayden noticed Deborah opening her eyes.

Good afternoon, sleepyhead,” he whispered, leaning in to kiss her on the lips.

“Hello,” she said, and then she saw her kids beside her Looks like I passed on my sleepiness.”

“Looks like it,” Jayden said, helping her to her feet.

“How was work?”

“Good, everything’s calm now, and the plans are under review,” he said, placing a hand on her belly. “And how have you two behaved?”

“They’ve been calm but get excited when they hear you and our kids.”

“Hi, little ones,” he said with a smile. “Careful, don’t move too much, or you might hurt Mommy,” he added before kissing her and then letting out a sigh.

“Well, let’s leave the kids here and go to the living room to talk.”

“Huh?”

“Come on, Jayden, we’ve been married for years, and I know all your expressions,” she said, touching his right cheek. “So, no lying to me.”

“Um

“So, you’re going to tell me what’s bothering you,” she said as they walked to the exit.

“Haha, nothing gets by you, huh?”

“Nope, because I’m your wife. So, come on, let’s have a little dessert while you tell me,” she said, kissing him on the cheek.

“Sure, love,” Jayden said, smiling as he began to explain the problems at work.

The little feline stretched and licked her paw, watching her owners‘ parents leave.

She began to purr as someone petted her head.

“Don’t worry, Chip. I know they’ll get through this to looking at her sleeping grandchildren.
