The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 436

Chapter 436

Everyone at Harbor High School knew Harold was courting Cordelia. His actions were as clear as day

to his peers. The whole gymnasium was bubbling with excitement.

Cheers and whistles were directed at Cordelia from all corners.

Callum, puzzled, turned to his father, Ronan, and asked, “What’s going on, Dad?”

With his gaze fixed on the spectacle unfolding before him, Ronan remained silent.

Sally was exclaiming excitedly, “Cordelia, say yes!”

“Say yes to what?” Cordelia was a beat behind, her mind preoccupied with thoughts of Samantha.

“Say yes to dating him!” Sally was on the edge of her seat, her eyes welling up with tears of

excitement.

Even if no one else explained what was happening, Ronan figured it out. So, the object of Harold’s

affection was—Cordelia!

It was a small world, wasn’t it?

A barely noticeable smirk played at the corners of Ronan’s lips, a smirk as cold as a winter’s day. He

had guessed that Cordelia might have been teaching at Birchwood College.

The whole school knew that Harold had a crush on Cordelia. Only her ex-husband had been clueless!

“Dad, what’s he doing?” Callum inquired.

“Nothing,” was Ronan’s curt response, which sent a chill down Callum’s spine, making him drop the

subject.

Harold got up and walked over to Cordelia. He then gestured a greeting to Ronan behind him.

Following Harold’s gaze, Cordelia spotted Ronan and Callum in the crowd. She was utterly stunned!

So this happened in front of her son, no less.

“Mr. Evans, may I invite you to dinner?” Harold, with a smirk, asked Ronan.

Cordelia’s mind went blank. She watched as Callum slowly approached her, convinced that Ronan

would decline the invitation. He just had to.

But to her surprise, after taking a moment to look at Cordelia, he said, “Sure.”

Cordelia’s heart dropped.

“I need to talk to you,” Cordelia told Harold.

“What? Can’t hear you. Say it over dinner,” Harold joked, his eyes twinkling with mischief.

“I’m not going to dinner,” Cordelia retorted.

“Come on, let’s go.” With that, Harold took Cordelia’s hand.

At this moment, Harold resembled a little puppy, a hormone-driven one at that. Cordelia attempted to

pull away, but the students, who had caught on to the budding romance, were watching them closely.

Cordelia sighed, her heart heavy. How did things end up like this?

“Let’s go,” Harold said, leading Cordelia away as she struggled to break free.

Sally chimed in, “Ms. Haselwood, here’s to a long and happy relationship!”

Cordelia thought to herself, Sally really knows how to hit where it hurts. Didn’t she know how

inappropriate that was?

Harold led Cordelia to where Ronan was standing. Cordelia was puzzled. How did Harold know

Ronan? What was their connection?

“Mr. Evans,” Harold greeted.

“So, this is your sweetheart?” Ronan, with a slight smile at the corner of his lips, stared at Cordelia as if

he didn’t know her.

“Yes,” Harold answered, seeming a tad embarrassed.

“Well, she’s quite a catch.” Ronan continued to tease Cordelia, his gaze never leaving her face. Cold

as ice, his eyes seemed to freeze anyone who dared to hold his gaze for too long. “A real ageless

beauty.”

Each word from Ronan stung. He was implying that Cordelia, of an “older age,” had managed to

capture the heart of a young man. At the same time, he was insinuating that Cordelia was “deceptive.”

However, Harold was none the wiser. After all, he had no knowledge of the past events. Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.

“Let’s go for dinner,” Harold said excitedly. His mentor was right. He was just one step away from

success. And today, he had achieved it.
