The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 393

Chapter 393

Cordelia's dejected demeanor did not escape Ronan's notice.

"Is there anything in this world that you cannot do?" Cordelia asked, her voice heavy with despair. It

appeared that all her efforts to learn and improve were in vain.

"You flatter me," Ronan chuckled.

As an accomplished driver, Ronan navigated the streets of America with ease, making every alley and

avenue his own. In contrast, Cordelia found everything unfamiliar, having never visited before.

Suddenly, Cordelia felt insignificant in his presence, like a mere jester.

During their outing, Ronan bought Cordelia a scarf from a quaint little thrift shop.

The scarf was a rich brown color, knitted thickly, and adorned with a pattern of Winnie the Pooh. It was

not costly, equivalent to less than fifty dollars. Yet, Cordelia adored it, spending some time in front of

the mirror, wrapping it around her neck and styling it in different ways.

Ronan found it odd that she would fancy something so childish, given her age.

After buying the scarf, darkness fell, so they headed home. Cordelia, consumed by joy, kept admiring

the scarf around her neck. Ronan simply couldn't comprehend her elation.

They had dinner and returned home around eight. Upon their return, Taylor opened the door, noticed Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.

Cordelia's scarf, and teased, "Oh, a gift from your beau?"

"What are you talking about?" Cordelia retorted.

But she did feel a certain fondness for the term "beau." In contrast to the opulent gifts of a house and a

hefty amount of cash he had given her before, this scarf felt more like a token of affection between a

couple that the former gifts couldn't achieve.

Cordelia checked the clock, and her excitement grew. She would soon see Callum.

"Callum usually finishes breakfast around nine, then Jessica takes him out to play. Let’s have some sex

first." Ronan told Cordelia, as he lay on the bed and she sat at the desk.

"When you finished, it’ll be too late." Cordelia complained, frustrated at his one-track mind. She wanted

to see her child, and all he could think of was sex.

"I control the time and whether you get to video chat or not," he replied.

Cordelia felt a surge of rebellion at this, but complied, nonetheless. With a smack of her pen, she joined

him on the bed.

"You're obedient, but unwilling," Ronan teased, his hands tucked under Cordelia's armpits as he leaned

against the headboard.

Cordelia was initially passive, but Ronan's teasing soon had her flushed and dazed. Just as they

reached the peak of their passion, Ronan's phone rang.

Lost in the moment, Ronan ignored it. Cordelia glanced at the caller ID; it was Janice.

"Pick it up!" Cordelia urged, fearing something had happened to their child.

She hastily disentangled herself and answered the video call.

"What?" Ronan snapped, panting, and leaning against the headboard as he spoke to Janice.

"Mr. Evans, it's terrible. Callum's missing."

"What?" Ronan jerked forward. "What happened?"

Cordelia heard this and was stunned. Then, she started to furiously pound Ronan. "It's all your fault.

Bastard! I could have video chatted with him an hour ago!" She was frantic. "Call the police."

Her first thought was that this was the work of the gang in black, Alana's crew.

Cordelia had been worried that Ronan's presence in America would provoke harsher measures from

their adversaries. Ronan had assured her that Alana wouldn't do anything, but now their child had been

taken!
