The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 366

Chapter 366

Saturday, at Starlight Hotel.

Early in the morning, the Assistant Manager of the hotel reminded all the staff that today, the only son

of the Evans family was to celebrate his christening here. The Evans family had booked the entire

hotel, and he urged everyone to be on their toes and ensure they were properly attended to.

From the moment the hotel opened, the floors were cleaned to a mirror shine, even more immaculate

than usual.

Around eleven o'clock, guests began to trickle in. Ronan's parents didn't come, considering Olen was

too conspicuous. Some things were better left unsaid, so Amanda stayed home with him.

It was Janice who brought Callum.

Today's attendees were almost all the bigwigs of Millstone. Jamie also came, invited by Ronan.

Brooklyn, amidst a crowd of suited and booted big shots, felt somewhat out of place. Still, she found

comfort in the company of Edwin.

"Cordelia has left, and Mr. Evans is hosting this christening. I don't know what he's thinking," Brooklyn

remarked, with a hint of dissatisfaction in her voice.

"Just sit back and watch," Edwin suggested.

So Brooklyn sat in a corner, watching others clink glasses and make merry, but she was not in the

mood.

"Oh, by the way, the game you mentioned earlier about collaborating with Pulse Technologies. Has The

High Society removed it from the plan? I went to Marian's party with Cordelia the other day and wanted

to find you some partnership channels. But they all pissed me off. I didn't like them, so your partnership

fell through. Try not to work with them in the future to avoid trouble. What goes around comes around. NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.

If you do bad things, karma will find you sooner or later," Brooklyn said apologetically. She had been

holding a glass of juice and had kept her head down.

Edwin couldn't help but laugh when he heard Brooklyn say karma. He knew she was a carefree

person, but he didn't realize she was so naive.

"You wanted to find me a partner? You don't understand anything," Edwin asked incredulously.

"I saw you were upset and wanted to do my part." Brooklyn's voice gradually faded.

Edwin felt a sudden warmth in his heart. Someone was paying attention to his feelings and was trying

hard to protect those feelings. He was grateful. He was also grateful to Brooklyn for doing all these

things for him. "You don’t have to do this," Edwin, holding Brooklyn's hand, declared.

Brooklyn's eyes widened in surprise. Edwin's sudden warmth, like a pie falling from the sky, caught her

off guard and filled her with joy. "Okay," Brooklyn replied with a smile.

......

Ronan, in his stylish gray suit, raised his glass to the guests, looking nothing like a man whose wife had

just left him.

Janice sat with Callum at Mr. Evans' table.

“I must say, Callum looks just like Mr. Evans. With a full forehead and a well-rounded jaw, he’s clearly

destined for wealth and success. Mr. Evans, have you planned out his future career yet?” someone

obsequiously asked Ronan.

"His future is for him to plan, not me," Ronan replied.

"And where is Mrs. Evans?" Another person asked.

Ronan's hand paused. "Cordelia?" Then he laughed. "We are divorced. We live our own lives. I can't

think of any reason for her to be here."

While everyone was baffled, no one dared to question any further due to Ronan's status. Only

Brooklyn, with a tight grip on her phone, was filled with anger. Edwin, sitting next to her, also lowered

his head and muttered, "How could he say such a thing!"

Brooklyn kept her phone in her hand, ready to send a message to Cordelia on Messenger. However,

she couldn't figure out what to write after several drafts, and ended up deleting all her words. If she

sent a message, it could upset Cordelia for no reason.

But even if Brooklyn didn't send anything to Cordelia, Cordelia still found out everything. So many

people were present that day, and quite a few of them posted about it on Facebook.

Cordelia used to work at Lumos Enterprises, and she had the contacts of many colleagues on

Facebook. So, Cordelia, who was studying under a desk lamp, was bombarded with videos of "The

Christening of the Evans family's son."

This grand and lavish event had nothing to do with Cordelia. She was not even aware of it. After a long

thought, Cordelia finally sent a message to Ronan. [I saw Callum's christening on Facebook. It was a

good party.]

But, Ronan didn't reply.

This left Cordelia, who had been reading, unable to concentrate. Now, Cordelia was very conflicted.

She wanted Ronan to reply but also hoped he wouldn't.

She didn't want him to reply because she was afraid those people were monitoring her phone. If Ronan

replied, they would know that her relationship with Ronan was not as bitter as she had said, and they

still had connections. This could lead to a repeat of the game implantation incident, causing Ronan to

lose money.

She hoped for a reply because she wanted to know Ronan's attitude. In a relationship, if only one

person took the initiative and the other did not respond, the relationship would not last. Besides, Ronan

didn't know about the man in the black suit and wasn't acting with Cordelia. He didn't hide his feelings.

He was very angry!

Cordelia was very unsettled. In the past few days, she had been extremely careful. Except for

necessary tasks, she rarely went out, and she didn't shop online for fear of another unexpected attack.

But after a few days, nothing happened.

Cordelia did not let her guard down and remained on high alert every day. Several days passed, and

Ronan still didn't reply. Cordelia was pondering on drafting an email to him, discussing her idea of

visiting home once a month. However, just as she was about to put pen to paper, a ping from

Samantha's Facebook Messenger distracted her.
