The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 350

Chapter 350

Upon reaching the Mariposa Hotel, it was noon. Ronan ushered Cordelia into the private room 401.

The room was already bustling when they arrived. Seeing Ronan, the crowd pulled him into their midst.

"Look who finally decided to show up, our old class president, the organizer of this reunion."

Cordelia was surprised. She had never known Ronan to have been a class president or that he was the

one behind the organization of this reunion. It was evident that he was trying to distract her from her

worries. She glanced at Ronan with a complex mix of admiration, gratitude, and affection. She felt

guilty for not being able to reciprocate his efforts, given that she came from an ordinary family. How did

she, an ordinary woman, end up with a husband as good as Ronan? Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.

Ronan was pushed to the center of the group, drawing many eyes to both him and Cordelia,

particularly from the women in the room. Cordelia felt uncomfortable under the scrutiny. She couldn't

shake off the feeling that some of those stares were rather unkind.

"Ronan, you've got a son now, yet you didn't bring him along to the reunion?" Someone teased.

"What's there to see in a child? Besides, this reunion isn't about him. He's too young to understand any

of this," Ronan defended.

After a moment's thought, the crowd turned their attention to Cordelia. She was taken aback when a

piping hot meatball was served to her, burning her mouth. She turned her gaze to Ronan, who’s putting

a meatball on her plate.

"Ah, you must be trying to distract Mrs. Evans. Many women get postpartum depression, but with Mr.

Evans treating you so well, I bet you won't," a voice nearby commented.

Indeed, no one saw past the surface. No one cared about her internal struggles.

"Must have saved the galaxy in a past life to have married Mr. Evans. I should ask God to let me save

the galaxy in my next life, too," a woman said, her tone laced with envy.

Cordelia forced a laugh. "Indeed, I saved the galaxy in a past life. Otherwise, I wouldn't be married to

such a wonderful man."

After eating, some people chatted on the couches, some sang songs, and Ronan was standing with a

group of men with a drink in his hand. Cordelia knew no one, and feigned sleep on a couch to hide her

discomfort.

"Look at her, isn't she just a pretty face with no substance?" A soft female voice reached Cordelia's

ears.

Cordelia wanted to see who it was but kept her eyes firmly shut. "Any woman who marries into a

wealthy family must have some tricks up her sleeve. I heard she's just an ordinary girl with a bachelor's

degree."

Cordelia thought, “Do these people not fear being overheard when gossiping? Or did they want her to

hear, to belittle her?

"I heard she and Ronan are divorced. The child was probably a strategy to avoid the split. A kid binds a

couple tighter, after all. She's cunning, trying to climb the social ladder with a child."

"Of course, she is cunning. How else could she have snatched our class president? The school’s

beauty queen, Petra couldn't even win over Ronan. Did you know she got a PhD? Our class president

seems to prefer bimbos."

"Why isn't Petra here today?"

"Why should she? Ronan is married. She wouldn't come to humiliate herself, would she?"

Cordelia heard a few soft snickers. "Or maybe Ronan had an ulterior motive for marrying her?"

The voices faded away into the distance.

Cordelia had received the message they intended to convey. She thought, “Of course, Ronan had a

motive when he married me initially. It was for his grandfather. But feelings developed over time.”

Cordelia hadn't expected her "bachelor's degree" to have made her the talk of the town. More

specifically, her degree and her “large breasts” would be considered faults.
