Chapter 317

Ronan swiped through the posts on Deanna's Facebook account using Cordelia’s phone, then quickly

blocked Deanna’s account. That meant, from that day forward, no matter what Deanna would post,

Cordelia wouldn’t see it. Not only would she be unaware of it today, but she might also never know in

the future.

Ronan silenced Cordelia’s phone and tucked it under her pillow.

After dinner, they both sat at the large table in the lounge. Cordelia was doing the books, the table

"What are you up to?" Cordelia would occasionally look up from her work to ask.

"Just some work stuff," he would reply.

Cordelia didn't press further.

Soon, Ronan's phone rang again. It was a call from the police station. The call caught him off guard. He

didn't want Cordelia to overhear anything that might’ve upset her, so he moved to the balcony to

answer.

"Mr. Evans, we've conducted a preliminary investigation. Brenna's death has nothing to do with

Deanna. Furthermore, Samantha’s failure to save her didn't violate any laws. She may have thought

and acted as such, but she didn't start the fire. All she did was let it grow, and for that, we can't take

any action against her. Our apologies, Mr. Evans," said the voice on the other end.

Brenna was Cordelia's grandmother.

"It wasn't her?" This revelation surprised Ronan. "Then who was it?"

"Mr. Evans, that's our job to figure out."

After hanging up, Ronan returned to his seat.

If it wasn't Deanna, then who was it?

Nevertheless, Ronan didn't regret his smear campaign against Deanna. He wanted to make Deanna

the target, for Samantha to hit hard. If Deanna fell, he would pick her back up, only to strike again. In

the end, Samantha would be exhausted, and Deanna would be riddled with scars. He would be the one

to benefit from their clash.

He had never forgotten his grudge against the wrongdoing of his grandfather.

Deanna, looking exceptionally modest and makeup-free, signed a donation agreement with Ricardo of

Evergreen Primary School. She donned a red scarf and took pictures with the students.

Her team, along with the staff from Lumos Enterprises, enthusiastically clicked away, capturing the

moment.

Although many of Deanna's endorsements had been withdrawn, she was particularly cheerful that day,

as this was Ronan's idea. She needed to do charity quietly, let the media speculate, then subtly rise

again, accepting roles and endorsements, until everything returned to normal, as if Samantha's exposé

never happened.

Ronan was truly a genius. Too bad he didn't participate in film and television production. This level of

intellect, this vision, he was a titan.

Even though Cordelia was pregnant, Ronan still gave Deanna advice, showing that she held a place in

his heart. She even posted on Facebook, using the team's pictures and a quote from Lumos

Enterprises PR Department, written by Brooklyn. [There will be many obstacles on the road ahead, but

Deanna wanted to use this quote to tell her Facebook followers and Samantha that she was doing well

and that she was back. Of course, if Cordelia saw it and it stung, all the better.

But her main aim was not to upset Cordelia, but to make her comeback.

However, Cordelia didn't see it. She was home, peacefully doing the books, rarely checking her phone.

These days, Ronan brought the books home for her to work on. And as Cordelia's belly grew larger, he
