The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 176

Chapter 176

"What?" Ronan looked at the cheque in his hand. His recent financial luck had been off the charts,

people kept throwing money at him. First, it was Cordelia, now Jamie. The irony.

Ronan's eyes were ice-cold, his face adorned with a chilly smile.

"The other day, I overheard a conversation between Cordelia and her mother. She still owes you some

money. I come to pay it off for her." Jamie said.

"You?" Ronan looked down at the cheque on the table, then tore it into pieces, "Who do you think you

are?"

"Ronan!" Jamie stood up angrily.

"This is between my wife and me. It's none of your business." Ronan said, "I'm busy. You can leave

now."

Jamie stormed out.

Just as Jamie left, Kendra walked in. It was her first time in Ronan's office.

"Mr. Evans, it was you who provided the house for Adrian to live in, wasn't it? Now Samantha..." before

Kendra could finish, Ronan picked up the phone and called the Sales Department.

"Fire Samantha." Ronan told the sales manager.

Then, he lit up a cigarette, calmly turned to Kendra, and said, "Is that better?"

Kendra's expression changed instantly, "Mr. Evans, you certainly know how to read a woman. You

know exactly what's going on in my head. I'm very satisfied. It would be best if you could inform Adrian

to send Samantha back to Roseville."

"Alright, I'll call him right now."

Ronan called Adrian in front of Kendra, telling him not to allow Samantha to live in that house anymore.

How could Adrian possibly disobey Ronan's orders? He agreed immediately.

Kendra thought to herself: Ronan sure knew how to handle women. Plus, the fact that Ronan listened

to her made Kendra feel elated, as if she was truly influential. She even made a special trip to the

Sales Department to see Samantha packing up her things with a pale face. She couldn't help but

laugh.

Ronan had wanted to fire Samantha from the beginning. Now that Kendra had shown up, it gave him

the perfect excuse. It was like killing someone with a borrowed knife.

Samantha's resentment was entirely directed at Kendra.

Ronan then called Cordelia and asked her to come over. Cordelia thought to herself: What did I do

wrong recently? Why was he calling me over?

"Aren't you going to apologize?" were his first words when she entered his office. He sat leisurely in his

office, watching the bewildered Cordelia.

"Apologize? For what?" Cordelia asked in confusion. Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.

"Why is Jamie in Roseville when your grandmother is sick? Why wouldn't you let me go and let him go

instead?"

Cordelia thought: How did he know everything? It made her feel so passive.

"I was afraid you'd get angry." Cordelia said, lowering her head, "He might have been working at

Roseville Hospital, happened to be there and we chatted for a bit. My mother was present, what could

possibly happen?"

"What do you want to happen?"

"Of course, I don't want anything to happen with him. I just want..." Cordelia tried to soothe Ronan, "I

just want something to happen between you and me."

Ronan was silent for a moment, then teased her, "You really have no shame."

"As if you're any better." Cordelia muttered.

"I want you to report everything about him to me." Ronan ordered Cordelia.

"Everything?" Cordelia raised her eyebrows in surprise, "I'm already swamped with work in the Audit

Department."

"Or I could transfer you out of the Audit Department?" Ronan said calmly.

There was a knock on the door.

With a "come in" from Ronan, Cordelia felt a gust of wind behind her. Then Emerson walked in.

"Maybe I should leave first?" he asked tentatively.

"No need, have a seat."

Emerson sat on the couch next to them, looking a little worried.

Cordelia was still unwillingly lowering her head. With a third party present, it was harder to say what

she wanted to. She knew that if Ronan wanted to transfer her out of the Audit Department, it would be

as easy as when he brought her in.

"Don't want to be transferred?" Ronan continued questioning Cordelia.

"Mm." Cordelia nodded.

"Then do as I say. Report everything."

"But what if he contacts me and I'm busy at the time and forget to report it to you?"

"Well?" Ronan seemed to be considering how to handle this situation. Turning to Emerson, he asked,

"What should we do like that?"

"That's simple, just keep a diary." Emerson blurted out.

Cordelia thought: Emerson was really not helping.
