Chapter 171
Chapter 171
Although Ronan was a beast in the sheets, he never made Cordelia feel embarrassed in public, despite
never reimbursing her for expenses.
Cordelia thought, "Maybe mom was right, it was rare someone stuck with you for life. Since our time
together was limited, we should cherish every moment."
She wanted to make amends with Ronan. After all, the incident that happened wasn't his doing. A few Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
days later, Cordelia received a beautifully wrapped package from overseas. She knew it was Ronan's
underwear that had finally arrived.
Considering she'd be at work when the delivery arrived, she had used her office address instead.
During lunch, Cordelia put the underwear in a small bag, planning to drop it off at Ronan's office after
lunch.
"What did you buy?" Brooklyn saw the exquisite little bag that Cordelia was carrying and asked her.
"Something for him."
"Who? Mr. Evans? What is it, exactly?"
"Underwear."
"Wow, you're really dedicated, huh? Why not just send it to your home? Why let the whole office
know?" Brooklyn teased.
"You don't get it." Cordelia explained, worried that if she sent it home, the delivery might disturb Barney;
if she left it in the locker, she'd likely forget to grab it.
"You should hurry and give it to him, he'll surely appreciate it."
Cordelia's hand paused while eating. Would he really appreciate it? "Should we leave it in his office
while he's out for lunch?" Cordelia asked Brooklyn.
"What's the deal with you two? Aren't you married? Why do it when he's not around?"
"I don't want to see him."
"But you have to sleep with him."
"We don't talk when we're in bed." Cordelia thought of their limited conversations these days, and their
interactions were mostly physical. It was as if he was venting his anger and she was trying to soothe
her resentment towards him. Their encounters were more intense than usual.
Cordelia delivered Ronan's underwear alone. She figured he'd be out for lunch by now, so she
cautiously opened the door to his office.
"What are you doing?" He looked at the sudden appearance by the door, frowning.
"You're here?"
"What were you planning on doing while I was out?" Ronan questioned, seeing her sneaky behavior.
"What's that you're holding?"
Cordelia quickly walked in, placing the package on his desk. "Your stuff is here, I brought it to you."
Apparently, Ronan had forgotten about Cordelia's promise to buy him underwear.
As Cordelia turned to leave, she suddenly noticed Emerson also in the office. She thought, "Oh no,
how embarrassing."
Ronan had already taken out the underwear.
"3XL? Won't fit, go exchange it." Ronan called after her.
When Cordelia turned her head, she saw Emerson chuckling quietly, and he didn't seem to have any
intention of leaving.
"But you…?" Her eyes fell unintentionally to his lower half.
Although his desk obstructed her view, she couldn't see anything.
"What?" Ronan asked indifferently.
"But you…" Cordelia struggled to find the words. He was so tall and, well…
"You should know my size. Why did you buy it too small?" Ronan accused her.
Emerson's head dropped lower, rubbing his temples, clearly embarrassed.
For the first time, Cordelia felt a lack of fluency in her speech."One pair of underwear costs over two
hundred, two pairs over five hundred. Plus, they were shipped from overseas. The shipping wasn't
cheap."
"Then you'll have to buy them again." Ronan replied, putting the underwear away in his drawer, then
casually added, "I'm not always that big."
Cordelia blushed. Was he making an innuendo? Moreover, she felt disappointed. The underwear had
been shipped from far away and they didn't even fit.
She would have to reorder. Just as she was about to pay, she got a call from Samantha that interrupted
her payment page.
As she stepped out, Emerson said to Ronan, "I can't stand your talk, I'm leaving. And why did she have
to bring the underwear to the office, who are you trying to embarrass?"
"You specifically."
And then, Emerson left.
