Chapter 275
Chapter 275
Naturally, the meeting between the two mothers was a pleasant one. As Emilia gazed at Winter, who had dressed elegantly and refined that day, her impression of Winter improved. A wave of guilt washed over her when she recalled what her son had done the previous night, especially when she took note of how polite and demure Winter was. All the dissatisfaction she previously had felt toward Winter vanished into thin air.
The two mothers were pleased by the idea of this marriage and immediately agreed upon it. Emilia proposed the third day of the next month as an auspicious date to get married.
Jade did some mental calculations. There were about forty days left before the suggested date, so she felt less worried. “Are we both in agreement on that?
“Yes, of course. I think matters concerning the wedding should be left up to us women. What do you think, Mrs. Shaw?” Emilia knew her son was probably still reeling from what had happened, and there was no way this responsibility could be handed over to him. Meanwhile, Winter was required on sèt. Thus, Emilia decided to discuss being in charge of this alongside Jade.
Jade immediately nodded upon hearing that. “I was thinking the same. The kids are busy, so this can be left to us!”
That concluded the meeting between the two mothers. Once they walked out of Homestyle Garden House, Teresa opened the door to another private room, where Noelle was sitting and brewing tea. She was looking over a copy of the year’s accounts. She flipped through them before returning them to Teresa. “My head hurts just from looking at them. I think you can just pay me my dividends in the future, since I can’t be bothered looking at all this anyway.”
“That won’t do!” Teresa said as she picked up the ledger. “After all, we started this business together. You have to at least take a look at the accounts no matter how little you care about them!” As Teresa took a seat, she glanced at Noelle. “Guess who I saw just now?”
Noelle poured Teresa a cup of tea as she raised an eyebrow. “Who could you have seen in this teahouse? Some high–ranking official, or a dirt–poor scholar?”
“Nope!” Teresa shook her head as she took the tea and gave it a sniff. “I think you’re so much better at brewing tea than the young girls working here!” Teresa took a sip before she continued. “I saw your mom, Winter, and Xavier’s mom!”
Noelle raised an eyebrow, her grip on the teacup faltering slightly. “They visited the teahouse?” That piqued Noelle’s interest, and she asked, “What were they doing here?” Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
“I was curious too, so I broke my own rules and decided to eavesdrop.” Teresa smirked. “They were discussing Xavier and Winter’s wedding!”
Noelle froze once again, a stunned expression on her face. That surprised Teresa, and she could not help but frown at the look on Noelle’s face. “You don’t still miss him, do you?”
“What are you talking about?” Noelle chuckled as she gave Teresa a side–eyed look. “Dol seem like that sort of person?” she asked before sighing. “I’ve long lost my feelings for Xavier.” She was just marveling to herself at how intelligent Charles was!
Just last night, Charles had said the Harris family and Shaw family could not wait for their families to
merge through marriage. He said they would be preoccupied with matters regarding Xavier and Winter’s wedding. She had not expected what he said last night to turn into the truth the very next day!
Noelle shared that with Teresa, who was similarly stunned. “Your husband is amazing! How could he have known?” As Teresa spoke, she nodded. “Actually, it’s not that difficult to figure out. Xavier started dating Winter because he was eyeing the Shaw family’s wealth, right? Both families have ulterior motives, and Winter must be in such a rush because she’s worried you’ll cause her more trouble!”
