The landlord was fast on his feet, but the police were faster. When they saw Xavier looking like a mess, they did not hesitate to take him away. This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

Xavier was pretty drunk, but he could still think straight. The sight of two cops made him a bit more alert.” I’m just looking for my girlfriend. What’s going on? Let go of me!”

“Girlfriend? You’re out here making a scene in the middle of the night. People say you’ve been hanging around here a lot. And hey, I recognize you! Didn’t we just bring you in for questioning the other day?”

One cop remembered Xavier right away after seeing him like this. The other cop glanced over and said, Yep, it’s you. Let’s go. You’re making too much noise, and it’s late. You know that’s not allowed, right?” The cops did not wait for an answer before they took Xavier with them. He did not want to go and kept yelling for Noelle, “Noelle, come out! Tell them I’m your boyfriend, Noelle!”

After spending two hours at the police station, Xavier finally started to sober up. A cop noticed and said, Hey, we got a call about you causing trouble. Remember that?”

Xavier looked upset. “Did she call you? I wasn’t causing any trouble. She’s my girlfriend. You can call her and check. I’m telling the truth!”

“Fine. Call her, then,” the cop said, giving Xavier a look. “Go ahead. Maybe she’ll come get you.” Xavier’s face fell. He pulled out his phone but then paused. “Could I use your phone?”

The cop gave him a doubtful look, and Xavier, feeling embarrassed, ran his fingers through his hair. “My phone’s dead.”

The police finally gave him the phone, and Xavier quickly called Noelle’s number.

Noelle had just finished a tiring encounter and was lying on Charles, feeling completely worn out. Charles gently played with her hair, getting ready to pick her up, when Noelle’s phone rang again.

Charles narrowed his eyes to see the caller ID showing an unknown number, then glanced at Noelle. She looked at him and asked, “Who is it?”

“Some unknown caller. Are you tired?” Charles pecked her on the lips. “Rest here for a bit. I’ll carry you to the bath soon.”

Noelle, feeling sleepy, nodded and murmured in agreement.

Charles answered the phone, and Xavier’s voice came through, “Noelle, you’re finally picking up? Why do you have to do this? We just had a fight. It’s bad enough you wouldn’t let me in, but did you have to call the cops on me? Noelle…”

Charles’s eyes narrowed as he looked at Noelle, who had already fallen asleep quickly. He gently put her down, about to walk away, but Noelle caught his hand. ‘Where are you going?”

Her voice was groggy, obviously still half asleep. Charles smiled softly, caressed her forehead, and whispered, “It’s okay, go back to sleep. I’m not leaving.”

“Who are you? Why are you with Noelle?” Xavier’s voice shook with anger as he heard a guy’s friendly tone and Noelle’s muffled words. Gripping his phone tightly, he demanded, “Tell me who you are!”

Charles just squinted and hung up without a word.

Xavier’s eyes blazed with fury as he glared at his phone, wishing he could make it explode with his stare. Seeing the call had been cut off made him even more upset. He tried calling back, but nobody picked up, and it just rang and rang.
