Chapter 314 Could I Be Smarter

“No problem, my salary will increase significantly as I’m an expatriate. If you want to visit during the summer, I can cover the expenses.”

Michelle shook her head vigorously. “No, no, you work hard to earn money. Don’t waste it on me. If miss you, I’ll just video call. It’s the same thing.”

Lysander sighed sincerely. “My little sister has really grown up.”

After they had dinner, Michelle insisted on going back with her.

Her younger sister had always been attached to her, and now, nearing their separation, it became even more intense.

Lysander couldn’t bear it either, so she brought Michelle back to her apartment to stay for a few days.

At night, Michelle lay in the bed beside her, holding her arm. She said softly. “Lysander, he came to see me today.”

“Who?”

“That guy.” Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g

Lysander understood.

It was Calvin, the one she almost had a falling out with her family for.

Even though it hadn’t been long since then, she had almost forgotten the boy’s name.

“What did he say?”

Michelle let out a cold laugh, “He said I was too materialistic and wouldn’t accompany him to Apex City to pursue his dreams. He claimed that when he becomes successful, I would regret it.”

“And what do you think?”

Michelle admitted, “At first, I felt a bit guilty like I had abandoned our relationship. But then I thought it through. Love isn’t everything in life. I have my loving parents, a caring sister, and good friends. If I left all of you to go to Apex City for love, it would be like gambling. Gambling that he would never change, that he would treat me well forever. But if I lost, I wouldn’t just lose everything. I would also hurt the people who love me.”

Lysander didn’t know how to comfort her, so she gently patted her sister’s head and said softly, “I don’t have-much experience in this area, so I can’t really advise you.”

Michelle was puzzled. “That can’t be right. Lysander, you’ve been in a relationship with both Josiah and Zachary. How can you say you have no experience?”

Lysander gave a wry smile.

Her relationship with Josiah was like fast-forwarding through the dating phase straight into a marriage

where they treated each other with respect. After they got married, they got busy with their own matters. Both played their roles well, but it was like acting in a play without any real feelings.

As for Zachary, it was almost entirely a performance on his part.

If she hadn’t been an indifferent person and hadn’t really fallen in love with him, allowing her to see through his act in time, she would have ended up just like Priscilla.

“Actually, sometimes I envy you. At your age, you can have a serious, heartfelt relationship.”

“Do you regret not having an early romance, Lysander?”

“It’s not regret. I still believe that studying and working are the most important. I feel a bit rueful, but life is about making choices. When you choose one thing, you inevitably give up another.”

“Like Daphne, who had a passionate relationship but it affected the course of her entire life?”

Lysander smiled. “You’re a bit luckier. Your ex-boyfriend’s level was lower.”

Michelle giggled. “Or maybe I’m just smarter?”

Lysander raised an eyebrow. “Well…”

“Lysander, you’re hesitating! I’m your own sister! Even if I’m a bit behind you, we share the same genes. I can’t be that bad, right?”

Lysander’s smile faded slightly as she looked down at her sister’s features.

Lysander herself had delicate features, bearing more resemblance to Molly.

On the other hand, Michelle had a sweet face. Her round face and round eyes looked more like Laura Beep, beep…

Her phone buzzed with a message.

It was probably the daily message from Molly.

Michelle was closer, so she grabbed the phone. “Who is it?”

Lysander’s heart skipped a beat. “Probably a colleague from the hospital…”

“No.” Michelle quickly sat up and turned the phone toward her.
