Chapter 264
Chapter 264
Nine in the morning.
Allison strode into the property management center, having a hunch who had been in her place, “Did I come here to get my key yesterday morning?”
The staff confirmed, “Yes, around half past eight yesterday morning. You mentioned you left your key at home and we provided you with a spare.”
Allison pursed her lips a little, “Can I check the surveillance footage?”
“Ms. Zimmer, we don’t just hand out our security topes for anyone to check. The staff said.
“I lost a ring and I’ve searched my entire house but couldn’t find it, so I wanted to take a look.” Allison said.
The staff explained hurriedly. “Ms. Zimmer, if your ring was left here, we would keep it safe. We absolutely wouldn’t take it for ourselves.” The staff was seemingly afraid that Allison might think something’s fishy about the management center.
Allison said, “I just want to check the surveillance. If it’s not here, it must be somewhere else.”
She was led to the security room by the staff who pulled up yesterday’s footage. “Ms. Zimmer, this is your surveillance video from half past eight to nine yesterday morning, about six minutes in total.”
Allison scrutinized the monitor closely. The woman who walked in, dressed in posh clothes and sunglasses on. She had a face similar to hers, was none other than Penelope.
Allison got the picture.
The staff asked Allison, “Ms. Zimmer, have you found your ring?”
Allison replied, “No, I must’ve lost it somewhere outside. I’ll go look.”
She headed back home, opened her drawers to see what was missing. What on earth was Penelope looking for when she rummaged through her drawers and jewelry box?
She furrowed her brows.
Suddenly, her gaze stopped.
The agate necklace Grace asked her to fetch from the closet was gone!
She whipped out her phone to call Penelope immediately but there was no answer. So, Allison hailed a cab to the Flanagan family.
Margo opened the door. Seeing Allison, Margo seemed a bit nervous. After all, they barged into her house just yesterday. Now, Allison was at their doorstep, had she found something out?
“What are you doing here? You’ve moved out. Get lost.” Margo said.
In the surveillance video, both Margo and Penelope were present.
Allison didn’t hold back, “Margo, where’s Penelope?”
“Ms. Flanagan’s out. What the hell, you dare to barge in!” Margo tried to block Allison but got her foot stepped on. Crying out in pain, she yelled, “Stop Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Allison!”
Hearing the commotion, Linda came out from inside. She bumped into Allison and upon hearing Margo’s instructions, hesitated.
Allison stared at her without asking anything, but her eyes made Linda feel ashamed. She stammered, “You know I’m just a maid, and when Ms. Flanagan asked your address, I just.”
Allison hadn’t known before that her home address was leaked by Linda. Hearing Linda’s explanation, she paused and looked at Linda, “So, it was you who told them.”
She had known Linda for five or six years now.
One of Linda’s relatives worked in a housekeeping company, who recommended Linda to work here. The pay wasn’t bad and the work wasn’t too tiring. Linda was five years older than her. Initially, the housekeeper was Grace who, impressed by Linda’s diligence and reliability, hired her. Later, when Grace fell ill, the housekeeping duties of the Flanagan family fell to Margo.
Margo was hard on the staff. She and Linda had both been scolded by Margo, which fostered a supportive friendship between them in times of hardship. However, Allison never thought this friendship would crumble so easily.
She smiled, walked past Linda, and headed upstairs.
She walked straight into Penelope’s bedroom.
