The Apple of My Eye

Chapter 1764 I Will Make An Exception

Chapter 1764 I Will Make An Exception

"That's enough! I don't need you to tell me anything. I'm capable of that on my own!"

Rex couldn't think clearly because of Holley's nonstop chatter. He was confused. He didn't know if he

could trust her. He wanted to, but there was something inside him telling him not to.

Holley could tell that her plan was working, based on the look on Rex's face alone, but she didn't want

to assume anything yet. Making Rex believe her story was just the first part of her plan. The second

part of her plan was the most important, as well as the hardest. She thought hard about her next move,

as Rex contemplated.

"Take her to the hospital! I need to know if she's telling the truth," Rex ordered his staff.

"Yes, Boss!"

Holley had anticipated this. As Rex spoke, he cast a glance at Holley. She remained calm upon

noticing this. She knew that was the only way to make him believe she was telling the truth.

Rex didn't follow them. He watched them, as they entered the car and drove away to the hospital.

The driver was cautious as he had been informed that Holley was pregnant. The car was driving along

rather slowly, which gave Holley enough time to think of her next move.

At the hospital

The two men walked behind Holley as she headed into the office of the Obstetrics Department.

The doctor was startled when she saw the two men trying to enter her office. With a scowl, she said,

"What are you two men doing here? Men aren't allowed in here. Get out! Only the lady can come in!"

The two men hesitantly exchanged glances. Holley piped in, "You'll have no use here. If you want to

see the results, you're going to have to wait until I get the check-up."

The two men nodded to each other after exchanging another look. What Holley had said made sense

to them. They also knew that men really weren't allowed in there, so they retreated and took a seat in

the hallway.

Holley locked the door after closing it. Then she knelt down as soon as she turned to face the doctor.

The doctor was shocked. Her first instinct was to get Holley off her knees before she could say

anything.

Holley ignored the look on her face as she refused to stand up. She just kept frantically shaking her

head, struggling to get the doctor's hands away from her.

Helpless, the doctor said, "What are you doing? I'm so confused. Please, get up first, so we can talk!"

"Doctor, help me! You have to help me. Or else I'm going to die!" Holley implored. Tears were

streaming down her face.

She was insisting on not getting up. Holley looked desperate and determined as if she wouldn't take no

for an answer.

The doctor tried her best to read the situation, but she couldn't understand why Holley would act this

way. Frowning, she said helplessly, "Get up first. Then we can talk. If there is anything I can help you

with, I'd be glad to do it."

"Really? I appreciate that. You're so kind. I need you to forge a medical certificate that says I'm

pregnant," Holley said calmly, taking a deep breath. She looked at the doctor, waiting for what she was

going to say.

"No, I can't do that! That's against the oath I took as a doctor. I wouldn't have said I'd help you if it

meant I was going to have to lie about it!" the doctor said without hesitation. She suddenly looked

stern.

As a doctor, saving people's lives was part of the job, but she couldn't lie. That was against her oath,

and she wouldn't do anything unethical.

Holley raised her head and looked into the doctor's eyes as she spoke, "Doctor, please. I really need

this. Can you just make this one exception? I have no choice but to do this."

Upon seeing the look on Holley's face, the doctor softened a bit. "Can you tell me exactly what's going

on?"

The doctor had an expectant look on her face. Holley knew this was her chance, and she had to grab it.

She adjusted herself and then sighed deeply before speaking, "If I'm not pregnant, they're going to kill

me."

"What? Who's going to kill you?" the doctor asked in shock. Her face remaining stern.

Holley made sure she looked distressed to gain the doctor's sympathy, and then she continued,

"Doctor, my boyfriend and I love each other very much, and we want to get married. However, his

parents don't want us to be together. They want him to marry another woman he doesn't even love!

Now they're making me marry someone else too, just to keep us apart..."

She got more and more emotional. Then she lowered her head as tears welled up under her eyes. She

trembled in distress and cried silently, trying to cover her mouth.

The doctor handed her a box of tissues. She was confused, but she couldn't help but feel sorry for

Holley.

"Thanks," Holley took a shuddering breath before she continued, "If I'm pregnant, my boyfriend's

parents would have no other choice but to accept me. You have to help me. Even if I'm not really

pregnant right now, once I marry him, I'm sure we can get pregnant soon enough. So you wouldn't be

lying for nothing. You'd be saving our lives. My boyfriend and I decided that we'd rather die together

than live apart. His parents have already threatened me once before. If they find out I'm lying about my

pregnancy too, who knows what they will do to me? They wouldn't stop at anything just to get rid of

me!"

She had made up that story just to get the doctor to pity her. Holley was out of breath by the time she Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.

finished speaking. She covered her forehead with a hand to feign weakness, and to get more

sympathy.

The doctor was concerned when she saw that Holley was wobbling as she stood up. "Are you okay?"

she asked.

"I'm fine," Holley replied. She stumbled back as she tried to steady herself. Then she flashed the doctor

a faint smile.

The doctor couldn't help but pity Holley. She suggested, "Why don't you call the police and ask for

help? You can also sue them if you want. I mean, as long as you have your boyfriend. Even if they

forbid you to marry your boyfriend, they can't possibly threaten your life. You have the right to protect

yourself!"

Holley didn't want to listen to the doctor's suggestions anymore. She grew anxious, as she really

needed that forged medical certificate. If she let the doctor continue coming up with other ideas, she'd

never get her medical certificate. She knew she needed to convince the doctor right away.

"No, I can't do that. I can't call the police or sue them. If I do that, they might go after my parents. I'm

begging you. I really need this. You just need to write me the medical certificate. I promise you won't

get dragged into this..."

Once again, Holley brought herself to her knees and looked up at the doctor, her eyes brimming with

tears.

The doctor felt as if she had no choice but to agree.

"But even then, I'm not sure if this will work," the doctor said hesitantly. She looked distressed.

This was the first time that a patient of hers had asked her to do this. She was thinking how she could

pull this off. She knew this was important to Holley, but she'd never forged a medical certificate before.

"Doctor, you don't have to worry. You just have to write me the medical certificate. It doesn't even have

to be official! Just enough to prove that I really am pregnant. You don't even have to put your name on

it," Holley said, tugging at the doctor's sleeve.

The doctor knew Holley was counting on her. If she didn't help Holley, who knows what could happen to

her? She might lose everything.

Holley knew this was her last hope. She knew how ruthless Rex could be. If he claimed that he could

throw her to the ocean to feed her to sharks, there wasn't any doubt in Holley's mind that Rex would

really do that.

The thought of this made her trembled in fear. She spoke again to try and convince the doctor, "Please,

doctor, it's your job to save people's lives. I'm going to lose everything, even my life if you don't help

me. Please, help me."

The doctor was having trouble deciding. She really didn't know what to do with this, but she could tell

how desperate Holley was. She really needed her help.

When the doctor still hadn't said anything, Holley figured that the doctor was having second thoughts.

She wiped her tears with the back of her hand and said, "Silence means yes. Thanks, doctor."

"Okay, I'll do it, but this is the only time I'm doing this. After this, I'm staying out of it." The doctor

nodded in agreement after a moment's pause.
