Chapter 618 Turning The Tides
Chapter 618 Turning The Tides
Willow and Zoey followed behind Macy and went out of the house.
A horrifying sight greeted them as corpses lay on the floor with their blood pooling on the ground.
They saw that Joey was crying as she squatted beside the corpse of one of her men.
Willow felt guilty for being the reason so many men had sacrificed their lives.
She also started to cry. "So many men have died just for me…"
Macy explained, "Please don't blame yourself for this, Lady Willow. It's war itself that's cruel and
unforgiving."
Macy had already gotten used to such sights.
Willow replied, "I hope that peace will be restored soon and that no more blood needs to be shed."
"Victory is already at hand. As long as you're safe, Lord Caspian will be able to destroy Viktor and his
troops with ease of mind."
Willow walked over to Joey, who was crying profusely.
"My condolences, Joey."
"They were all good young men with a bright future ahead of them… But they're now nothing but a cold
dead body!" Joey shouted.
"War is cruel and unforgiving… I hope peace can be restored soon."
Joey became depressed. "This is all my fault… None of this would've happened if I never brought them
into the enemy's training grounds by mistake."
"This isn't your fault, Joey. Our enemies would have still invaded us even if you hadn't been there."
…
Macy reported the current situation back to Caspian.
"Lord Caspian, Riverside Villa is now safe. We've eliminated all the enemy special agents!"
"Well done! Are Willow and Zoey safe?" Caspian asked.
"They're both unharmed."
"How much did we lose?"
"We didn't suffer much losses, but Joey lost a lot of her men and has become depressed. Lady Willow
is currently consoling her."
"Joey led her men in defending Southlake City with their own lives and has contributed a lot to the war.
She even helped defend Southlake City in order to buy time for the medical staff.
"I shall pay respects and monetary assistance to the families of those fallen in battle appropriately."
"I understand. So, can I go back to the frontlines now?" Macy asked.
She didn't want to remain idle now that Riverside Villa was safe. She would rather go back to the
frontlines instead.
"There's no need for that. I need you to remain at Riverside Villa as insurance."
"Yes, sir!"
Macy didn't dare to disobey Caspian.
…
Caspian led the charge once more after learning that Willow was safe.
He would have preferred to send a hurricane missile upon the Archer residence if not for Laina still
being there.
He wasn't so heartless as to sacrifice Laina just for an easy victory.
Meanwhile, within the Archer residence, a senior officer hurriedly ran inside. "General, Caspian is about
to lead the final charge! We can't hold them off!"
Viktor was similarly panicking. "Get in contact with our special agents and ask about their progress!"
"Yes, sir!" An intelligence officer nodded his head and began to get in contact with Caro.
A long time passed and yet Caro never made a reply.
The rest of the special agents were also not responding to their calls.
"General, we can't get in contact with any of them!"
"What? How is that possible?"
The intelligence officer explained, "Perhaps they're locked in battle at Riverside Villa and can't answer
our calls."
"That shouldn't be the case! Why would it take so long for a thousand men just to take down some
lousy house? We're going to be done for at this rate!"
Viktor began to panic.
He had a feeling that something bad had happened, which was why none of the special agents had
responded to their call.
Viktor continued, "Where's Kenzie? Get him to contact his special agents and ask them what NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.
happened!"
The intelligence officer ran out of the room to look for Kenzie.
"Mr. Kenzie, please get in contact with your special agents and ask about their progress."
Kenzie nodded his head.
He attempted to get in contact with his own men but to no avail.
"This is bad. I can't get in contact with my own men as well."
The intelligence officer replied, "We should notify General Obrien about this right away!"
Kenzie nodded his head. "Yeah."
The two of them soon returned to Viktor.
Kenzie sheepishly explained, "General Obrien, I can't get in contact with any of my special agents as
well."
"What? What's going on over there?"
"Perhaps they've been eliminated."
Viktor refused to listen to Kenzie. "Absolutely not! I don't believe that Caspian still has any troops left at
Riverside Villa!"
He needed to capture Willow in order to shift the tides of battle.
It would be his death should the mission fail.
Kenzie replied, "Perhaps Caspian did, in fact, leave a lot of men back home."
Viktor explained, "We had already confirmed that only a hundred armored soldiers remain at Riverside
Villa."
"Or maybe our plan was leaked to Caspian, and he sent reinforcements back home."
Viktor realized that Kenzie may be right.
Viktor angrily stared back at him. "How did Caspian learn of our plans? Are we being wiretapped? Or
did someone leak the information to him?"
Kenzie was terrified as he wondered if Viktor was suspecting him of being a traitor.
"This has nothing to do with me, General Obrien. I, too, wish for nothing but victory so that we can
leave Southlake City alive! I have no reason to leak the plan to Caspian!"
Viktor asked, "Are you implying that the traitor is from my own men?"
"I don't know what you're talking about… I think that Laina, one of Diatoran's special agents, is in this
house!"
Viktor's expression soured. "Are you saying that Laina leaked our plan back to Caspian?"
"Yes, that would be the only possibility."
"So you're saying that Laina is right beside us in the house! Search every corner of the house and
capture her immediately!"
The next moment, a wounded soldier ran into the room.
"General, the Diatoran forces are way too powerful! We can't hold them back any longer! We only have
four thousand men remaining!"
