Marriage 50
Chapter 50 The CEO Admits He Made a Mistake
Before Farrah said yes, Adrian added, “If you mess up, you won’t be able to bear the consequences. Maybe Mason will not be able to further his studies, and your mother will be without a place to stay.”
“Adrian, you’re out of your mind!” she shot back, her frustrations boiling over. “In the office, you’re the boss, and I respect that. But at home, we’re partners, we should be equal! Why can’t you just talk to me without resorting to threats? I even made you food!”
After her outburst, she turned on her heel and stormed away. Men really shouldn’t be spoiled like this.
The sound of the bedroom door slamming echoed through the house, catching Adrian off guard. She really dared to talk to him like that? His mood darkened further.
Since the afternoon, he’d been in a terrible mood–especially thinking about how she had walked into the restaurant laughing and chatting with Corey. It left him feeling more unsettled than he cared to admit.
He waited for her for two hours and still hadn’t cooled down since the afternoon incident. But Farrah
somehow had the nerve to start yelling at him first!
Half an hour later, a knock on the door disrupted the silence.
Farrah ignored it, rolled onto her side on the bed, and kept scrolling through her phone without glancing up
Another knock came, this time more deliberate–just three polite taps.
“Open the door, I need to apologize!‘ Adrian’s voice carried through, startling Farrah, who had been grabbing her headphones to drown him out.
She sprang up, opened the door, and looked at him. “What did you just say? I didn’t catch that.”
Adrian needed a favor, so he spoke again, “I’m sorry, my attitude was out of line earlier. I apologize.”
She scrutinized him, arms crossed, shaking her leg in a playful manner. “So, will it happen again?”
“It won’t.” His voice was steady. “You need to help me with tomorrow’s dessert; it’s important.”
Farrah nodded, her expression softening. “I’ll do my best.”
“No, trying your best is not enough. You have to get it done.”
“Okay, I got it! Go get some sleep!” she said, shutting the door, thinking he’d make a decent language. teacher with how well he enunciated everything.
Germaine pulled up at the bar alone that night, drowning her sorrows in alcohol.
When she got home, she soaked in the bathtub for two hours, trying to wash away the lingering scent of alcohol.
She drank to forget the pain, but she needed to ensure she was at her best when facing Adrian every day.
Back at Floral Spring Residences, Farrah was taking a shower in the guest room.
She mulled over the day’s confrontation with Adrian. If it hadn’t been handled properly, he would definitely have taken his anger out on Corey.
She knew Corey had feelings for her in the past, even if he hadn’t brought it up during their reunion.

To avoid any unnecessary drama, she grabbed her phone and typed him a messa
a message.
“Hey Corey, when you asked me about the biggest change in my life earlier when we were dining, I’d say it’s my marriage. I’m married now, and with that comes a lot of responsibilities.”

His reply came quickly. “You’re kidding, right?”

in respond. She stood up and rummaged through her belongings for her marriage
Meanwhile, Corey assumed this was her way of rejecting him. A marriage was a good excuse, but it felt ridiculous.
He read her words, chuckling softly to himself. Just then, his phone chimed again. A picture of her marriage certificate lit up the screen.
His heart dropped, his eyes glued to the image. The groom’s photo and information were blurred out, but her name and photo were crystal clear.
They registered for marriage just under a month ago… He was one step too late!
“Why is this happening?” he whispered, his mind racing. After all these years, he couldn’t move on from her.
Shock soon turned to disbelief, leaving him speechless. He didn’t reply, letting her silence speak volumes as he tried to digest the news. Now that he knew she was married, even if feelings lingered, he had to bury them deep.
Farrah was doing this to protect him.
The next morning at Prestige Group, a sleep–deprived Corey walked into the CEO’s office, only to be summoned by Adrian. “I need you to look into her.”
“Sure.” Corey took the files, his brow furrowing as he saw the woman’s name.
