Chapter 218
Chapter 218
A warm smile crept up on Rhonda's face.
“Thank you, Mom. I can put my mind at ease now. I'll wait for the elders to decide on the marriage date.
Hopefully, the wedding will be held before my baby bump becomes obvious.”
Beatrice held Rhonda's palm, patted it gently, and replied smilingly, “Everything will be settled soon.
The Luther family has to follow its lengthy and complicated tradition when it comes to weddings.
Despite that, Felicity has simplified a lot of it to avoid unnecessary trouble. Hence, we will probably
decide on the marriage date in two days. Please be patient.”
Rhonda murmured a response and gazed at the tightly-shut door.
Moments later, she whispered, “Mom, Maxton is hostile toward my baby. Now that he has recovered
and become normal, I'm afraid my baby can't seize the right to inheritance from him. You must find a
way to get rid of that b*stard for me.”
After giving it some thought, Beatrice said with a stern expression. “We can't rush things and must look
for the right timing. Be patient, for there will always be a way. Remember not to act on impulse because
we have worked so hard and come so far. As they say, a little neglect may breed great mischief.”
“All right. Let him live for a few more days.”
At night, Artemis returned to the Luther residence.
The moment Artemis hopped out of the car, the housekeeper informed him that the person in charge of
the infirmary was looking for him.
He was a little excited and headed toward the infirmary without hesitation.
When Artemis arrived at the study in the infirmary, he said, “Please tell me the current situation.”
The person in charge lowered his head and fell silent as though he was contemplating the best words.
After a minute or so, he said in a shaky voice, “Mr. Luther, I conducted several tests and confirmed that
the blood sample left in the blood bank belonged to Mr. Simon. In other words, the blood sample he
stole back then was yours.”
The atmosphere in the room got tenser as the person in charge explained what happened.
Artemis tightened his grip on the wine glass but loosened it when a thought flashed across his mind.
After repeating the actions dozens of times, he asked in a hoarse voice, “Are you sure the blood
sample left in the blood bank belongs to Simon?”
Apparently, the person in charge was also shocked by the revelation.
When the blood sample in the blood bank was proven to be Simon's, it meant the one who underwent
the paternity test with Bailey's son was Artemis. The test result showed that they were father and son.
In other words, Artemis had a son, whom he wasn't aware of until today.
“I'm sure. If you don't believe me, please ask Mr. Xuereb for confirmation.”
Artemis was startled for a moment before he narrowed his eyes and asked, “What does he have to do
with it?”
The person in charge nodded and answered, “A week ago, Mr. Xuereb took the remaining blood
sample when he carried out a routine inspection of the blood samples in the blood bank. He kept it a
secret from you and returned the blood sample three days ago when he left Hallsbay. Back then, I
didn't understand why he took the remaining blood sample. Now, I believe he probably noticed
something and took it to conduct a test.”
Artemis's body trembled once he listened to the explanation.
In the meantime, mixed feelings of shock and joy bloomed in his chest.
He was certain that Zayron was his son.
In addition, Max's biological mother was Bailey, the woman who barged into Artemis's life and couldn't
be gotten rid of.
While his hands were shaking, Artemis took out a plastic bag with a few strands of Zayron's hair in it.
The next moment, he pulled a few strands of his hair and handed them over to the person in charge.
The man understood Artemis' intention right away.
After taking the strands of hair, he nodded and said, “Please give me three days. I will give you an
absolutely accurate answer.”
Artemis waved his hands and reminded the person in charge, “Remember to keep it a secret from
anyone. Get it?”
“Yes, sir.”
In the Revelle residence, Zephyr lay on the bed with an IV drip attached to his hand.
As his condition worsened, he looked deathly pale and drained of all energy.
While lying on the side of the bed, Zayron clenched his hair and said, “Zephyr, are you trying to make
things difficult for me on purpose? I can't pair Justin and Veronique off if he isn't fond of Veronique!”
Zephyr coughed and replied feebly, “Justin wouldn't have let Aunt Veronique create a ruckus if he isn't
fond of her. Moreover, he was even aroused and almost slept with her. Don't tell me he couldn't control
his desire just because he was drugged. I know the aphrodisiac drug wouldn't have much effect on
him.”
Once Zephyr finished, Zayron sat straight and narrowed his eyes. “Do you mean he's fond of Vero? In
that case, why did he mentally torture Vero?”
“It's all because of the Fletcher family of Jadeborough. Sloan values Justin and wants him as his future
son-in-law. Hence, Justin rejects Aunt Veronique to prevent the Fletcher family from targeting the
Revelle family.”
“The Fletcher family of Jadeborough.” Zayron scratched his head and added, “They are tough nuts to
crack. Even I might not be able to deal with them. Anyway, there are a lot of men out there. If Justin is a
no-no, I can marry your aunt when I grow up. Why must you insist on him?”
Zephyr pursed his lips and shook his head. “Aunt Veronique only loves Justin. Zayron, now that my
days are numbered, I'm only worried about her. I wish she could find her Romeo before I pass away,
and Justin is the one for her.”
Glaring at him, Zayron said, “Pfft! Stop being so crestfallen. I'll look for a way to pair Justin and
Veronique off if you're sure he loves her. Nonetheless, let me be clear. I am not doing this to fulfill your
dying wish but merely to help you.”
Zephyr chuckled. “I'm glad to have a friend like you. Thank you. I wish Aunt Veronique could find
happiness. Then, I'll be able to put my mind at ease and—”
Zayron glared at him and gritted his teeth. “Shut up. I'll dig a hole and bury you if you spew nonsense
again.”
Instantly, Zephyr held his tongue.
In a restaurant, Edmund and Bailey sat opposite each other in a private room on the second floor. Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
“Bay, the dust has settled here. Why don't you quit your job in Luther Group and come with me to
Archulea?”
Bailey stopped cutting her steak and looked up at him. Moments later, she asked while frowning, “Old
Mr. Chivers' condition has just stabilized. Why don't you stay here to keep him company?”
Edmund put on a faint smile. “Since he's recovering, I can come back to visit him more often. I don't
have to stay by his side every day.”
Bailey put down her fork and spoon and asked, “Edmund, are you sure you won't mind if I bring my
children to live with you? More importantly, I'm not a virgin. Are you sure you're willing to be loyal to me
forever?”
Edmund didn't respond but only stared at her silently.
At the same time, a glint of disappointment flashed across his eyes.
Instantly, Bailey regretted saying those words to Edmund. Do I not know what is on Edmund's mind?
“I'm sorry for going overboard. I shouldn't have questioned your character.”
The next moment, Edmund held her fingers and said in a croaky voice, “Bay, stop running away from
it.”
