Chapter 200

Artemis opened his eyes abruptly and stared at her. He asked while wearing a frown, “What did you

say?”

Bailey rolled her eyes and enunciated, “Take off your pants.”

Not knowing how to respond, Artemis cleared his throat.

This woman is really capable of surprising me at every turn.

“Are you sure?”

“Do you need me to take your pants off for you?”

“Yes, please. Come on.”

Bailey snatched a pillow and chucked it at him.

Then, she turned around and entered the changing room. She randomly selected a sleeping robe,

tossed the clothes to him, and uttered through gritted teeth, “Don't taint my eyes.”

Artemis fell silent.

He removed his pants with much difficulty and covered his lower body with the sleeping robe.

His legs were covered in crimson blood.

Fortunately, Bailey knew her limits. Otherwise, Artemis reckoned his legs, or perhaps even his life

would be sacrificed.

“I'll help you stop the bleeding first. Then, I'll help you suture and bandage the wound.”

Artemis' body shuddered uncontrollably at the mention of suturing his wound.

He could not help it, as he had been traumatized by Bailey's suturing technique.

“T-There are some local anesthetics in the first aid kit. Remember to inject two vials for me later.”

She snorted, picked up the bottle of alcohol, and poured it on his legs.

That sensation was no different from rubbing salt on his wound.

Artemis winced in pain as if someone was slicing him with a thousand knives.

He would have passed out in agony if not for his strong will and determination.

This evil woman.

Large beads of sweat rolled down his forehead to his muscular, tanned chest. The layer of moisture on

his skin glistened under the bright lights, giving him an enticing charm unique to mature men.

Bailey took the hemostatic forceps from the tray and used them to pick up a ball of sanitized cotton to

clean the bloodstain around the wound.

She felt Artemis grasp her arm just as she turned around.

The next second, Bailey was pulled into his arm forcefully.

Then, the sensation of a domineering kiss overwhelmed her instantly.

Artemis did not know how long the kiss lasted. He finally leaned away and slowly let her go after the

heart-wrenching pain gradually dissipated. He uttered hoarsely, “This method is much more effective

than anesthesia. I'll do this again during the suturing later so I won't feel any pain.”

The corner of Bailey's mouth twitched. She glared at him and said, “My medical skills are amazing, but

I am still unable to kiss a dog while mending its wound.”

Artemis was rendered speechless.

This wicked-tongue woman.

“Stop moving unnecessarily. I've disinfected the wound. Now I will stop the bleeding for you and suture

the laceration.”

Artemis let go of her, leaned his upper body against the back of the chair, and slowly closed his eyes.

Bailey glanced at him with a hint of complicated emotions flashing across her eyes.

She could not believe she did not put up any resistance earlier and even took the initiative to

reciprocate his kiss. She had allowed him to do as he pleased, leaving his scent to linger in her oral

cavity.

Am I really getting fond of this man?

As the location of the wound was too special, the suturing process became a challenge.

Having no other choice, Bailey could only kneel on the floor and lean close to the side of his body.

Her posture could invoke one's imagination to run wild. Bailey tried her best to ignore that awkward

situation, expelling all the vile thoughts in her mind. As a result, her movements became very tense.

With the local anesthetic's effect kicking in, Artemis did not stir when Bailey began mending his wound

with the needle.

However, as her hand unintentionally grazed his skin repeatedly, he finally showed a reaction.

Artemis' heart palpitated, and his breathing turned labored.

Without needing to look up, she could already clearly sense a passionate gaze fixed on her as if a

predator staring intently and possessively at its prey.

Bailey finally closed the wound after enduring such torment for five minutes.

He grabbed her arm just as she was about to help her apply medication to the injury.

She instinctively lifted her head and shivered when she met his dark gaze.

Apparently, Artemis had lost his rationale.

“A-Artemis, calm down.”

He stretched his hand to cover his forehead before pointing at the door in the distance and said huskily,

“Go and prepare some food for me. I'll handle the rest.”

Bailey subconsciously retracted her palms, got up, and took a few steps back. She tossed the bottle of

medication at him, spun on her heels, and left.

“Apply the medication and bandage the wound. The cut is not very deep, so you'll be fine after resting

for two days. I have some matters to attend to, so I'll take my leave now. You can just order food

delivery.”

Artemis did not say a word.

He narrowed his eyes as he watched her leaving figure from behind. A hint of remorse surged within

him.This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

This was such a good opportunity. Why did I act so pretentiously? I should have just followed my heart

and taken advantage of her.

When Bailey returned to Shelbert Condominium, she stumbled into Edmund downstairs.

Standing under the streetlamp, the dim lighting caused his shadow to appear elongated, giving him an

unusually lonely vibe.

Bailey felt guilty as she was reminded of the scene when Artemis kissed her unknowingly.

Before, she had no feelings for Artemis, so she agreed to Edmund's marriage proposal without

hesitation.

But now, Artemis had barged into her life assertively, wreaking havoc on her daily life.

She could no longer fathom her feelings as doubt, hesitation, and reluctance churned in her chest.

Her desire to start a family with Edmund was no longer as intense as before.

Bailey was even feeling a little unwilling to proceed with that arrangement.

“Why are you standing outside, Edmund? Are Zayron and Susan not home?”

Edmund strode gracefully toward her under the moonlight. He walked in front of Bailey and regarded

her with a complicated look that baffled her.

“Bay, are you not willing to marry me? Do you harbor any loving feelings toward Artemis?”

Bailey was stunned. On second thought, a wry smile spread across her face.

How could I have underestimated Edmund's capabilities? There's no way I can hide my whereabouts

from him.

“Edmund, I do not wish for Artemis and you to turn against one another because of me. Artemis is

merely interested in me on a whim. I suppose he will stop trying so hard after this infatuation dies out.”

Is that so?

Edmund curled his lips into a forceful smile.

Huh, will someone risk their life for someone they are only interested in a whim?

He was not a fool. Edmund could tell Artemis would never stop until he got Bailey, and he could also

sense the subtle changes in Artemis and Bailey's relationship.

“It is normal for a remarkable woman like you to garner interest and adoration from men. Bay, I can

provide you with a quiet and peaceful life, and that is something Artemis cannot give you.”
