Chapter 26 Mind Your Own Business First
Under the moonlight, Amanda looked at Iverson as if she were in a dream.
The cold wind blew past, and waves of piercing pain came from her neck.
“Oh, my…” Amanda sucked in a breath of cold air and snapped back to reality.
Frowning, Iverson carried her to the car, put her down, and then lifted her chin to check her wound.
“No need, I…”
“Don’t move.”
The concise words fell on Amanda’s eardrums, and she gave up struggling for some reason.
Iverson held her chin with two slender fingers. His cold face was so close to hers, and there was a faint smell of cologne on his body, which reminded her of the night of passion.
God, what was she thinking?
“Take this and stop the bleeding. I’ll take you to the hospital later.”
Iverson handed her a handkerchief and abruptly pulled back her thoughts.
“Oh… fine.”
Iverson thought that she was frightened, so he put the handkerchief into her palm and held her hand tightly. “Don’t be afraid. If I’m here, such a thing won’t happen again.”
Amanda was stunned.
At this time, Jamie and the bodyguards had quickly captured Olinka and the hatchet man she hired. They pressed their faces onto the hoods without hesitation.
“Fuck! Let me go!”
“Behave yourself!”
After all, Halley was the EVP of the Sean Group. Jamie politely did not let anyone hurt him but did not let him get close to them.
Seeing that Olinka was held hostage, Halley was both anxious and scared. He said anxiously, “Let go of her!”
“Let her go? Do you want her to continue hurting people with the knife?”
Iverson’s cold voice echoed in the moonlight.
Faced with the man who had gotten out of the car, Halley shivered. Still, at this moment, he could only summon up the courage to ask, “Mr… Mr. Byran, no matter what, this is my family’s private affair. You shouldn’t interfere, should you?”
“I’m not interested in your family affairs. I just happened to pass by today and saw a kidnapping case. I just happened to see the injustice.”
The corners of Halley’s mouth twitched. “Just happened to pass by? Mr. Byran, do you think I’m an idiot? Or do you think someone will believe that?”ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
“Oh? No one will believe?”
Iverson’s gaze lowered slightly. Even though there was a long distance between them, he gave off a feeling of superiority and contempt. It was as if everyone in his eyes was just a small fry.
This rhetorical question completely stunned Halley.
Iverson Byran was a man who could influence the media’s opinion. He could do whatever he wanted in the business world of Ducco.
“Halley, save me!”
Olinka let out a long cry. Her teary eyes made me feel sorry for her.
Halley took a step forward, but the men stopped him that Jamie had brought. “Mr. Sean, you’d better stay here and don’t move.”
“Mr. Byran, since you don’t want to interfere in our family affairs, let’s forget about it. Can you pretend that you didn’t see anything?”
Halley gritted his teeth. “I can reduce the profit of the project I signed with the Byran Group by two points.”
Iverson looked at him coldly. “Do you think I lack these two points of profit?”
“That’s not what I meant. I’m…”
“I’m not interested in what you say. You can leave now.”
Halley let out a sigh of relief at first but was soon stunned. He looked at Olinka and asked, “What about them?”
Iverson interrupted her coldly. “Before I change my mind, you’d better leave as soon as possible.”
Halley looked at the woman who was tied to the hood. He gritted his teeth and finally turned to leave.
Olinka called out in disbelief, “Halley!”
“Mr. Byran, what should we do with her?”
Jamie asked for Iverson’s opinion.
Iverson picked up the dagger on the ground, which was shiny and cold. He only asked, “Which hand did you use just now?”
Iverson lifted his eyes slightly, and his gaze was as cold as ice.
Olinka blanched in an instant and couldn’t speak clearly. “What… what do you want?”
Iverson, on the other hand, was extremely disgusted by her words. He turned his gaze to the thug being held captive and asked, “Do you want to live?”
The thug was stunned for a moment and then nodded repeatedly. “I just took their money and worked for them. Apart from bringing Miss Jewell here, I didn’t do anything else. I won’t dare to do it again. Let me go!”
“Which hand was she holding the knife just now?”
Before the hatchet man had time to react.
“Clang.”
Iverson threw the dagger at the foot of the thug and said coldly, “Leave one finger of hers, and you can leave.”
At the same time, the two men on his left and right had already let go of his hands. His legs went soft, and he knelt on the ground. In front of him was a shining dagger.
The thug’s heart trembled violently. He swallowed hard and reached for the dagger with trembling hands.
Seeing this, Olinka struggled with a pale face. “What are you doing? Please don’t listen to him, don’t come over! I’ll give you the money. I’ll give you as much money as you want!”
Money?
Money was not as important as life.
If he offended Iverson, would he still be able to live in Ducco?
The man made up his mind, grabbed Olinka Fane’s wrist, and slashed down!
“Ahhhhhh!”
Screams echoed in the mountains.
Iverson’s car was actually parked a little far away, though no one knew if it was intentional or not.
Amanda had been sitting in the car all this while. Her injury wasn’t that serious. Olinka had only left a small cut on her neck when she missed the target. When she pressed down on it now, it didn’t bleed much anymore.
Through the windshield, she could only see Iverson’s back. The moonlight painted his tall figure in a long shadow, blocking Olinka and the others.
Amanda couldn’t see what was going on outside clearly, but when she heard Olinka’s scream, her heart skipped a beat. When she looked up, she saw that the ‘driver’ who had kidnapped her was kneeling in front of Iverson. She didn’t know what Iverson had said to him, but that ‘driver’ stumbled and ran away, falling down several times along the way.
Amanda was flustered.
After a while, Iverson returned.
“Go to the hospital.”
“Yes.”
“Wait,” Amanda stopped the driver and said, “Olinka…”
“Jamie will stay and deal with it. You take care of yourself first.”
The cold male voice echoed in the car with hostility somehow. Then, the driver was already starting the car.
Thinking of the rumors about Iverson, Amanda subconsciously pressed her hand harder on her wound. Without caution, she touched the wound again, causing it to tremble violently.
It was rumored that Iverson was a man who didn’t even care about his family. It seemed that his father had been driven out of the Byran Group by him.
Iverson suddenly frowned and pressed the switch next to him.
The automatic elevator in front of them suddenly rose, separating the back and front seats. At the same time, the lights were turned on.
Before Amanda could react, Iverson had already grabbed her hand and moved closer.
The light was so bright that she could see his facial pores. Amanda’s heart beat wildly when she looked at the face in front of her without warning. She held Iverson’s broad chest quickly and began to speak incoherently. “What… what are you doing?”
