He's Lucky

He's Lucky

IT WAS ten o’clock in the evening when Helios got home. Zoe’s friend is still in the house, and both decided to do a sleepover. Hela Selene was already asleep upstairs. She’s with their maid named Bea. Helios went home not alone. He’s with this guy named Ali, together with Grant and Calyx. She smiled when she saw the reaction of her friend, Cindy. Cindy spits the water she’s drinking when she sees Calyx. They were busy watching when the men arrived. Cindy is at the edge where she back faces the main door—she didn’t expect the arrival of Calyx. Helios approached her and kissed her on the forehead. “Where’s Hela?” he asked. She was about to answer when Cindy and Sam started to tease her. They’ve repeatedly been saying the words, ‘long table’. At the same time, Helios's companions began to whistle. She shook her head and smiled. Then she looked at Helios again. “She’s already asleep. What took you so long?” Helios sat down beside her, and he put his arm around her. He leaned the back of his head on the headrest of the sofa he was sitting on and closed his eyes. She looked at him. she likes their position, but that was not the feeling that mattered for now, as she sees Helios tired. She glanced at Helios’s colleagues. She frowned and smiled when she saw what Calyx just did. The guy sat down at the sofa's armrest where Cindy’s sitting, and she almost laughed when Cindy seems not at ease. While Grant and Ali were seated on the carpeted floor, it didn’t escape from her eyes the sudden movement of Sam’s eyes toward the man. ‘Hmmm… maybe she likes him,’ she thought. Zoe then turned back to Helios. “Are you sure you’re okay?” she asked. She touched Helios’s forehead with her palms. Helios reached for it and intertwined their fingers. He opened his eyes and looked at her. Helios brought her hand to his lips and kissed the back of her palm. Now, she can’t hide her burning

cheeks. Helios grinned at her reaction. She glanced at the people around them and sighed when she saw that they were all busy. “C-Can we talk?” Helios frowned, “about what?” he asked and sat adequately, hands still intertwined. “If possible, let’s just talk up… upstairs,” she pleaded. She wanted to say something and ask him questions too. She can’t hold the feelings she’s been trying to forget and hide everything she knew. She tried to talk to Helios about the fear that had been bothering her for so long. And she knew only Helios could answer the questions lingering inside her mind, and Helios was the only one she could trust and who could take away her fears. Helios nodded and turned to his friends. “The house has many guestrooms. Just pick one. We need to go upstairs and talk about an important matter,” he said. “Talk? Are you sure it was just a talk?” his friend named Ali asked him, teasing him. “Helios, don’t make Hela a baby brother or sister yet. Get married first, before you do that,” said Grant. She almost hid behind Helios out of embarrassment. Why do they keep saying things out of the blue? It’s just a joke, but it can’t take away my naughty mind to think of something X-rated, she thought. Helios didn’t reply and just pulled her upstairs. “It should be a boy too?” said the voice—whom she knew it came from Calyx. “Why do you seem to be only the one who’s different from your circle of friends?” she asked. Helios stopped and glanced at her, frowning. “I mean, you’re this serious type of a guy. While they—" “I thought, you were going to say something. Do you want us to talk about them, then? Or do you want us to do what they were suggesting, hmmm…?” he said in a deep husky voice. “Heh!” was the only word she could tell, and she walked ahead of him, going straight to Helios’s office. The corner of Helios’s lip rose as he watched Zoe walk away. “She’s gorgeous with her burning cheeks, and I’m falling so deeply in love with her,” he whispered. NôvelDrama.Org is the owner.

Helios glanced at his watch as he twitched the knob of his office. It’s already ten-twenty-one in the evening. When he finally entered, he looked around the room. He can’t see Zoe. "Babe?" he began to call, but no one replied. "Baby, where are you? Zoe?" he called. He walked straight to the comfort room, and there, he heard a sudden flush from the toilet. Zoe's eyes widened when she saw Helios right in front of the door. "Are you going to pee?" she asked and smiled. “No,” he answered sparingly and walked towards the leather sofa and sat. Zoe followed him and seated him in his opposite direction. Helios frowned as if he didn’t like what she did. "Really?" he said, almost whispering. “What?” Helios didn't reply. He heaved a deep sigh and intertwined his fingers while resting his elbows at the top of his knee. "Now... we talk—you talk," he said. She gulped and sat properly. “I… I want to tell you something,” she started. Helios remained to frown. She closes her eyes and opens them again as she’s trying to calm herself. Is she going to talk about what he saw? “Is there a problem?” asked Helios gently. She didn't want to lie, so she nodded. "Tell me." “The last time we went to do the… the grocery, I saw Bill from afar, eyeing us.” There was a brief silence between them when she said it. Helios’s clenched fist didn’t escape her sight. “I know, he’s your friend—" "Who says we're friends?" he cut in. His face became firm. She saw sudden anger in his eyes. “What else did you see?” he asked. "While the escalator was going down, I saw him in the corner, wearing a black coat and denim.

Suddenly..." her hands started to tremble. And she doesn't know why. "Suddenly, he-he raises—” Helios stood up and went closer to her. He kneeled with his left knee in front of her. He grabbed her hand and pressed it gently. Helios is giving her comfort through his touch. Suddenly, a tear fell from her eyes, “H-Helios, I’m scared. It seems like… he wasn’t to kill me.” Helios caresses her cheek. “No one can harm you, baby. Trust me.” And that, she began to shed tears. She hugged Helios. Helios hugged her back and caressed her back. Continuously saying that ‘no one can harm her.’ When her burden was lessened, she let go of the man’s embrace. “What’s going on, Helios? Why does Bill seem to want to hurt me? It’s confusing me, Helios,” she said and didn’t take off her eyes off Helios. “You are so secretive, Helios. You want me to trust you, but you can’t trust me,” she said in a weakening voice. Helios heaved a deep sigh and stood up. She looked up at him. "I don't know. He has the same position as me. We used to be friends way back then. I don't know what happened... what's his reason. I don't know why he badly wants to kill me. And as much as I want to tell you everything, the time isn't right. The situation isn't nice. I don't want you to overthink —” "You don't want me to overthink? Seriously, Helios?" She stood up. "With all the thoughts playing inside my mind, do you think I can stop myself from overthinking?" She massages her temple. "Helios, if you can't tell me about it—” “Even I, I don’t know his reasons. So, I need to find it out first before telling you everything. I’m not planning to keep you hanging. I’ll answer everything, Zoe. I want to answer all your questions, but I also don’t know where to start. It would be best if you weren’t involved with it. I don’t want our daughter to be put at risk. Baby, this is my fight—Yes, you’re in it, but I want to fix it myself. I want you to trust me. Trust me, Zoe. I promise to give you a normal life. A life you wished to be.” “But your life isn’t normal. I accepted it, Helios. I know loving you will put my life at risk because of your work. And I also know that you will face death when you desire to get away from your group. I don’t want you to die. It would be best if you didn’t leave us because I need you. Our daughter needs you. So even though I’m afraid of what might happen, I’m gambling my life with it, Helios. I’m

willing to take the risk if it means being with you, even if it’s the only way for me to have you—to be with you. Don’t leave your group, Helios.” "Where did you hear that?" “There are no such things as normal life, Helios. I didn’t wish to have a perfect life. Everything has flaws. And no matter how risky it is, I will play my card. It’s because I love you… and I trust you.” A tear fell from Helios’s left eye. She crossed their short distance and caressed Helios’s face. “I love you, Helios. If risking defined my love for you, I’m willing to gamble my life—" She didn’t finish what she would say when Helios claimed her lips. All she could do was respond with a kiss. The scene lasted for seconds. Helios cupped her face and gave her one more quick kiss on her lips. "I love you so much, Zoe. Thank you, baby," he said and kissed her again. He's so damn lucky to have Zoe in his life. His almost fucked up life is getting more colorful than it was.
