Chapter 13
Chapter 13 Ryan’s Origins
“I can’t believe I’m the last one out of the bunch to find out about your return! What sort of a sister are you, Gwen? I loved and cared for you for so many years, yet you did this to me!”
Ryan wasn’t her
Judging from that voice, Gwen could tell that the intruder was her third brother, Ryan Lawson. But Ryan biological brother. He was abandoned right after he was born, so the Lawsons adopted him.
Gwen didn’t even bother looking up from the documents. “Take a seat. Don’t disturb me.”
It had been two days, yet she hadn’t finished sorting out all of the documents given to her by Henry’s secretary. She had received almost 100 calls coming from companies and conglomerates from all over the world the whole day, which left her feeling overwhelmed.
Ryan didn’t mind Gwen’s attitude at all. He plopped down on the couch instead.
“Wow, Henry really is ruthless to you. To think that he’d give you this many documents! He’s trying to nurture you the next heiress! You’ll definitely go crazy from this amount of work
“Honestly speaking, Gwen, you should’ve just followed me on my tour. Think of it as a holiday, yeah?”
“I’m not going,” Gwen replied while sorting out the documents. “Don’t think I’ve forgotten about the time your fans mistook me as your girlfriend when I went to your concert last time. If it wasn’t for Henry’s timely appearance, I’d have gotten stitches on my forehead thanks to the egg attack!”
“How the hell do you still remember that?”
Ryan was instantly elated. He wiped his mouth before smiling at Gwen happily. “And you claimed that you weren’t interested in me! Why else would you remember the memories we made together so vividly?”
Gwen was speechless, to say the least. She raised her head long enough to roll her eyes at Ryan. “You should get your brain checked out since you’re being delusional.”
Ryan’s half–smirk was still etched on his face. “You’re the only one who can cure me.”
Once again, Gwen didn’t know what to say. It was a good thing she was already used to such conversations with Ryan, so she didn’t feel uncomfortable in the slightest.
Ryan had always enjoyed singing since young. Now, he was an internationally popular singer. He was always busy with his work, but he could always squeeze out time just to shower Gwen with love and care.
During the time when Gwen was adamant about marrying Jake, Ryan canceled his upcoming concert immediately to fly to Bellmont City just to fight Jake. In the end, Henry was able to stop him. Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Now that Gwen thought about it, she wasn’t sure as to why she’d ditch the nice men around her and opt to fall in love with Jake instead.
“I got a phone call coming up, so I’ll have to answer it first.”
Gwen could feel her phone vibrating. She glanced at the caller ID, only to see the same unknown number again.
Ryan clammed up immediately. He watched as Gwen walked over to the floor–to–ceiling window so that she could answer the call.
“Hello, are you Savant Group’s new executive assistant? Can we talk about the case of Hall Group getting disqualified from the medical expo in Durnwick?” It was Cedar.
No wonder Gwen kept receiving calls from the number. Henry had told her before that Hall Group’s landline would be automatically blocked by Savant Group. That was why Hall Group decided to try contacting Savant Group with a new number. This was most likely Jake’s instruction.
“There’s nothing to talk about. Hall Group’s donation doesn’t reach the quota needed. I think the previous secretary has already told you about this the last time you contacted us.”

Gwen dealt with the business accordingly. Besides, she spoke nothing but the truth.
Jake thought Hall Group was qualified enough to attend the medical expo. The truth was that Gwen was the one who had convinced Henry to let Hall Group in.
“Ms. Lawson?”
Cedar’s shocked voice could be heard coming from the other end of the line. He had worked with Gwen for a very long time, so he could recognize her voice right away.
Gwen neither confirmed nor denied her identity. “I’m very busy, so I’m going to hang up now.”
She let out a sigh after the call ended. If anything, she was very sure that Cedar must have dialed her number in Jake’s office right in front of him. It’d be amusing to see Jake’s expression right now.
As expected, Cedar passed the phone to Jake in the CEO’s office of Hall Group. “Mr. Hall, the new executive assistant of Savant Group sounds like Ms. Lawson. But how… how did she…”
Jake’s expression was very tense. He wasn’t deaf–of course, he heard Gwen’s voice from the loudspeaker.
A moment ago, Cedar had reported to him that Gwen’s parents didn’t exist in the farming village at all. That meant her background information was falsified. How dare she lie to the Halls for three long years!
“Mr. Hall, will Hall Group still be attending the expo?”
Judging from Jake’s expression, Cedar wasn’t sure if he still wanted to attend the medical expo.
“Keep calling her.” Jake finally spat those words out after pursing his lips for some time. Cedar fell silent at the order.
