“Enoch’s like a ghost. He won’t even look my way, Frank!”
Pamela tenderly inspected her son’s bruises, and her expression was etched with worry. “Sweetheart, did that brute Oona lay a hand on you?”
“Mom, I’m not playing games here. I gotta make Enoch and Simon pay for what they did, I can’t just let this slide!”
As the youthful scion of the Dubins, Ryan had always been accustomed to facing challenges head–on, but he had never experienced such a significant setback before.
“Don’t sweat it, Mom. Dona won’t get away with this crap,” Pamela muttered, her mind replaying the humiliating scene at the Walsh family’s estate earlier that day, her expression mirroring her frustration. She was hell–bent on crushing Oona completely.
Turning to Wesley, who had been lost in contemplation, she declared, “Wes, Ryan has been screwed over this time. It’s on you to make sure that jerk pays the price!”
Ryan chimed in, nodding firmly. “Wes, that idiot’s got tunnel vision for you. Why not show her what happens when she messes with us?”
Wesley’s features hardened as he locked eyes with his mother and brother. “Idiot, huh? Do you think Oona’s just an idiot today? If someone as dimwitted as her can stir up this much rage in you, then you’re not even worth our time!”
A profound unease gnawed at Wesley, its roots elusive yet undeniable.
He struggled to identify its source, but one thing was clear: The Oona standing before him was no simpleton. If she were indeed a fool, then the very fabric of reality itself would unravel.
Frank’s countenance chilled at Wesley’s words. “Wes, what are you suggesting?”
Wesley’s features hardened into a mask of resolve as he shot back, his tone frigid “This is all part of her scheme to control. me. But now that she’s shed her foolish facade, I’ll entertain her little game.”
Wesley’s gaze turned icy, a cruel smirk playing at the corners of his lips. “Relax, Mom. Verona’s the only one for me. Oona’s just a puppet for you and my brother to play with. Let’s see how long she can dance on your strings”
His chuckle dripped with disdain as he leveled a cold glare.
Pamela’s brow furrowed with disapproval.
“Wes, you can call the shots, but even if this woman’s dropped the act, the Dubins wouldn’t welcome her. Verona’s the only one fit to be my daughter–in–law.”
“Count on it, Mom. Verona’s the one I’ll marry. Oona’s just a pawn for Ryan and me to play with. Let’s see how long she can keep this charade up! Wesley sneered, his eyes ablaze with contempt.
Brimming with certainty in Oona’s unwavering devotion, he wagered she wouldn’t withstand her emotions for more than three days. A smirk curled his lips, etched with the cynical wisdom of countless encounters with such fervent admirers.
Following their meal at the elegant Rosewood Manor, Christine and Enoch meticulously packed the trunk of their car with a lavish array of food and drinks. Their hearts filled with concern for their beloved daughter’s well–being; they spared no expense, fearing she might suffer hunger or neglect while away.
Christine gently pulled her daughter aside, her expression filled with concern. “Oona, did Clay do something to upset you?”
Initially. Cona remained silent, but after a moment of reflection, she understood her mother’s question was about Clayton.
“Don’t sweat it, Morn, Oona replied confidently. “Nobody can mess with me!”
In the day, Christine wouldve been a wreck, but now, with Cona, she was as cool as a cucumber. Still, she gave her daughter a

gentle reminder.
“As long as nobody’s messing with you, we’re golden. But if anyone tries, you should come running straigh your corner, ain’t nobody gonna lay a finger on you!”
