Ashton’s POV

My blood feels warm as it runs through my veins… my temper heightening as I long for nothing hall -ridding him from the world of wolves.
People didn’t dare to stare at me now, sensing my shift in mood as 1 storm hack towards our table both females following behind me closely.
They were both gone for far too long…
Zen was already on edge, before sensing our mates discomfort through the bond. I knew something was going on in the bathroom, and I wasn’t shy on going in there to find out what it was.
It wasn’t Derrick, since he hadn’t yet moved from the table, which only
that it was another female giving her grief from inside the bathroom…
My suspicions were confirmed, the second I walked in and spotted bimbo Elza of all people!
I take my seat, as Hunt and Sawyer straighten up eyeing me for an explanation as to why I had left so abruptly to retrieve Rose and Lydia.
“What the f
fuck happened?! I seethe, keeping my voice low as Rose returns to her seat beside me.
“… the… things just… I don’t know! Rose seems lustered, as my eyes dart down to her trembling hands.
“I shouldn’t have touched her…” Rose breathes, as Hunt and Sawyer raise their brows wondering what she had done.
1 barely believed it myself when I walked in and saw Rose’s grip on her… I didn’t take her for being so feisty… but I’d be lying if I said that a small part of me wasn’t proud of her!
“To hell with that Rose! She touched you first!” Lydia suddenly defends, folding her arms and huffing out like an annoyed child, emitting a low grow! from me.
“What the fuck do you mean she touched her best?!” 1 demand to know the details of the encounter, as both of their eyes widen and they look to one another – silently rehearsing the story.
*Speak!” I demand, my eyes burning in to Rose, as her eyes begin to water a little.
*Elza… she… she is a member of my old pack and she recognised me! Called me out by my old name in front of the others in the bathroom! Then she said some horrible stuff about you and I just got so angry! I’ve never put my hands on anyone before but she tipped me over the edge!” Rose explains quickly, lip quivering as she adjusts herself in the chair to avoid anyone seeing her upset.
“She poked her with her scabby finger! Did you see her nails too? They were practically talons!” Lydia defends further, as Rose nods her agreement.
If I was angry before, then I was fucking livid now! How dare she waltz in there and call her by her old name – if you could even call it a name to begin
with!
“What stuff did she say about me?!” I demand more, as Rose closes her eyes and sniffles attempting to hold herself together from having a complete breakdown.
I was probably pushing her far too soon for information, but I didn’t care. I wasn’t prepared to let Derrick or any whore from his pack come here and forment her so easily.
“Sh Shr… she said I was a downgrade… and made a horrible sick joke that nobody found funny! Even the others in there gasped when she said it!” Rose’s eyes hold deep sorrow, as my brows pull together in a scowl.
What
was the joke?!‘ I push on, noticing Lydia shake her head at the memory choosing to keep her head low.
“Well the… she said that I was a downgrade because your other mate was… drop dead gorgeous… and then she said – ‘pardon the pun‘ and laughed about it.” Rose’s voice is so quiet that I barely catch the words, as she avoids meeting my eye next.
“Yeah and she claimed to have been with you in the past to rub salt in the wound… saying that Rose wasn’t special!” Lydia states the last part, before my chair flies hack and hits the wall as i stand,

Was he finally close to caving? Or was he prepared to be stubborn in front of the audience?
‘Ashton, you vir seriously lost your edge. Since when do Alphas apologise?” Derrick laughs loudly again, causing my last string of composure to snap. My patience runs out, as does all respect for Jacobs rules for the ball and I make a swift decision…
The truth is, Derrick won’t ever change. He thrives on conflict, revels in the chaos he creates and believes that by causing such outrage amongst packs he will gain points to becoming more respected.
But he would need to stay alive for that to happen…
Before he can react, I throw a punch, the force of it catching him off guard and sending him tumbling over a couple of chains set up

The impact resonates through the room, as women gasp and scream from the sharp crack echoing followed by Derricks pained yell before my men rush to my aid – ensuring that nobody from the opposing pack dares to step in.
I am taken over by fury, as Derrick decides to make a quick shift in to his wolf leaping towards me as I roll out of the

My size in comparison to his made him laughable, however his wolf looked furious – saliva seeping from his canines with a sudden thirst for vengeance. Before I know it, a full fight breaks loose, tables are flung, men are shifting and howls and yelps are heard – followed by more screaming and the rushing of the crowd.
This is exactly what I had hoped for… he was outnumbered… and this ball was the only place I could snag him for all he has done!

He had chosen the wrong pack this time…
Derrick runs at my wolf full force, as I stand still and prepare for the attack, I allow him to get close enough, studying his every move as though time had slowed, before I notice him beginning to leap up in to the air – meaning he was planning to get on top of me for advantage.
I decide to dart forward- underneath him as he is mid–air before I jump upwards and tare in to his exposed abdomen.
Derrick collapses on to the floor, his wolf growling and yapping loudly from the attack, before I spot another two of his followers rushing me from the side.
They knock me over, one managing to nip at my front leg, before I twist up and snap one of their necks in my large jaw with ease – leaving the wolf limp.
It is then that Derrick joins the other one in circling me, them both deciding that the only way to take me down would be to attack me together…
So they think…
I growl loudly, having never been so enraged in my whole life, before a tan coloured wolf comes rushing to my a
aid – recognised as Hunt!
Hunt growls ferociously, causing Derricks assailant to back up with regret now, which leaves Derrick and I to battle one another one on one.
Derrick’s eyes burn with hatred as he circles me, his wolf matching my aggression. I can feel the pulse of the fight, the raw energy in the air. It’s a dance of dominance, and I’m determined to show him the true strength of an Alpha defending his mate and his pack.
He lunges at me again, jaws snapping, but I counter with a swift side dodge, my teeth meeting the air where his neck just was. It’s a dangerous game, a primal clash for supremacy. Derrick is cunning, but I have experience, and more importantly, the weight of my pack behind me.
Hunt provides a well–timed distraction, attacking from the side and forcing Derrick to split his attention. It’s the opening I need. With a powerful leap, I close the distance between us and sink my teeth into Derrick’s flank. He howls in pain, but the sound only fuels my determination
The fight continues, a chaotic symphony of growls and snarls. We trade blows, each impact resonating through our wolf forms. I can taste the metallic tang of blood in the air, and my own fur is stained crimson from his wounds.
Just as I’m about to deliver a final blow, a series of explosions echo throughout the hall, The sudden chaos startling us all, and I release Derrick, turning my attention to the source of the disturbance. Smoke billows, filling the room in a thick haze. Panic spreads among the guests as they scramble for safety.
The smoke acts as a veil, obscuring vision and providing cover for Derrick’s followers to escape. In the midst of the chaos, I seize the opportunity and swiftly grab Derrick by the scruff, dragging him in to a corner and tying him up with an improvised cloth restraint with the help of Hunt, preventing him from flecing.
He struggles against us, but my grip is unyielding as he finds no escape.
As the smoke begins to clear, revealing the disarray and panic around us, I maintain my focus on Derrick…
He’s now a captive in my hands, his plans unraveling before him.
