Second Thoughts After Divorce

Chapter 14

Chapter 14

Rose’s POV

The soft rays of morning sunlight seep through the curtains, waking me up from a surprisingly peaceful slumber.

I rub my eyes and take a moment to collect my thoughts, the events of the previous day slowly coming back to me. It was strange how the storm outside was no longer present, since all I could hear now was the chirping of the birds from outside…

As I sit up, I realize that I am still currently in the Alphas bed… with sudden embarrassment rushing through me.

The Alpha himself was no longer here, gone from the room completely, as I digest the events that had occurred last night.

The memory of him coming into my room last night, the vulnerability in his eyes, and his unexpected act of comfort flashes through my mind. My heart flutters at the memory, and I can’t help but wonder what it all means….

Why was he still showing me such kindness? Even after the kiss which I was certain he had regretted, that was until he invited me in here last

night…

Just then, the door to the room creaks open, and Ruth enters with a soft smile etched on her face. “Good morning, Rose,” she greets me warmly. “I heard the storm last night. Are you alright dear? The Alpha explained that he had brought you in here because you were scared.” Buth looks concerned, as I nod – feeling my cheeks heat up slightly.

I’m such a baby!

I nod, feeling a mix of emotions stirring within me now. “Yes, but I’m okay now thank you! It was just a bit overwhelming, that’s all.” I divert my eyes to my hands – as I fumble with my fingers

Ruth then moves

moves to sit down on the edge of the bed, her kind eyes studying me. I understand. Storms can be quite unsettling – I don’t like them either. But don’t worry, you’re always safe behind these walls. Would you like some breakfast?” Ruth smiles warmly, as I think on it.

I’m not particularly hungry, but I don’t want to refuse her kindness either. “Yes, please, will you eat with me today?” I reply softly, hoping that she would say yes since it wasn’t often I had company let alone someone to eat with.

Ruth flashes me a bright smile, nodding and gesturing with her hands for me to get up.

“I should probably shower first, and change, If you don’t mind waiting for me? I’ll be as quick as I can!” I ask her in hope, as she nods and we exit the Alphas room–heading down the hallway towards my own.

I grab some clean underwear and socks along with one of my comfy sets, choosing the shorts option since the weather had seemed to brighten up greatly now after last night.

Ruth, takes a seat in my room, as I rush into the bathroom to shower and brush my teeth and hair–looking slightly more presentable and ready for the day ahead afterwards.

The st

standards for the maids at this pack were way higher than the standard back home… I wanted to be as neat and as organised as possible to fit in. Once I am ready, I exit the bathroom to find that Ruth had very kindly made my bed and opened my curtains to brighten up my room some

me more

“Thank you, you didn’t have to do that.” I smile at her gratefully, as she waves me off with her hand.

“Nonsense! It took me seconds anyway! Let’s go grab breakfast then, shall we? Ruth moves to the door with a soft chuckle as I smile and follow her

out

As we walk together, heading downstairs and towards the dining area, Ruth listens attentively as I share my feelings about the storm and the overwhelming emotions Ive been experiencing since coming to the Royal Blood Pack.

She offers words of reassurance and support, and her presence al

alone provides comfort in this unfamiliar place.

The dining room was slightly busier today, but nothing too crazy, as some of the other wolves eye me cautiously as I enter and grab a plate.

I fill my plate with some of my favourites, being sure to stick close to Ruth as we move around the room. We find a quiet spot to eat, as everyone seeins to fall into their own laughter and conversations.

Over breakfast, Ruth mentions that she’s planning to go for a walk around the pack’s territory today and offers to accompany me.

I hesitate for a moment, but something within me yearns for the chance to explore some more having never had such a luxury granted to me pack. I was open to the distraction, since after all, the Alpha had suggested it himsel

With a small smile, I accept her invitation, grateful for the opportunity to clear my head and spend some time with someone who genuinely seemed to care about what I have to say…

After breakfast, we step outside, greeted by a fresh morning breeze and the scent of damp earth from last night’s rainy storm. The air feels invigorating. and my arodiety begins to fade as we walk side by side together around the grounds.

Ruth leads me through the pack’s territory, explaining that we could go down to the market for the day which wasn’t too far.

I was amazed by the sense of community and camaraderie among the wolves as they all welcomed me and didn’t seem to judge me. It warms my heart to witness their interactions amongst one another.

As we continue with our walk, Ruth shares stories of her own experiences as a member of the Royal Blood Pack. She tells me about the challenges she faced and how she overcame them, offering valuable insights and advice. I find myself listening attentively, feeling a connection growing between us both as she seemed to not mind being around me.

“You know, Rose,” Ruth begins with a soft smile, “we all have our struggles and insecurities. Being part of a pack means supporting one another, embracing our strengths, and accepting our flaws. You may feel like an outsider now, but in time, you’ll find your place here.” She trails off, as my heart

warms at her statement.

I hope so….

Her words resonate with me, and I’m grateful for her understanding and encouragement. It’s reassuring to know that I’m not alone in feeling this way, and that there’s hope for finding acceptance among the pack members here compared to what I was used to in the past

It doesn’t take us long before we reach the small town filled with shops and market stalls as Ruth guides me around – taking me to some of the best

parts.

As we walk on, I stop to admire an elderly man’s stall–who had created some beautiful pieces of jewellery. I pick up a gold and pink bracelet with a heart pendant – admiring its beauty–before placing it back down with a sigh. Property © NôvelDrama.Org.

I could never afford anything like it, although it was gorgeous to say the least

Ruth continues to show me around town, before we decide it is best to head back incase the Alpha was looking for either of us by now…

I gasp on our way back, as Ruth suddenly reveals a small box–holding it out to me on our stroll with a grin. “What is this?” Leye her curiously, as she pushes it into my hands.

Without me noticing, Ruth had managed to discreetly pay for the little bracelet I had adored. My eyes widen at the gesture, pulling it from the gift box to admire it fully again.

“For you,” Ruth concludes with a warm smile. “You deserve a little something nice, Rose,”

I’m touched by her thoughtfulness and my eyes fill with tears as she helps me put it on my wrist.

“Thank you so much, I don’t even know what to say,” I manage, my voice choked with emotion. “It’s so beautiful.” I conclude, as she smiles proudly,

As we walk on together, approaching the Alphas grounds, a group of male pack members emerge from the gates – coming into view.

One of them, a gruff middle aged man with a

a sneer etched across his face, takes notice of me right may – his eyes trailing over me from head to toe.

He looks me up and down, a wolfish grin forming on his lips, as I notice Ruth seemingly tense from beside me, sensing that something wasn’t right.

“It’s okay, we are almost back home.” I whisper, trying to reassure her, but I can feel my own heart pounding heavily in my chest.

The man approaches us, his eyes fixated on me as I gulp and attempt to make my way around him.

He starts to make lewd comments and gestures to his buddies, causing them to chuckle and shake their heads at their arrogant friend.

“Sexy little thing you are… you looking for some money baby? I can pay well for your time!” The man laughs loudly, reaching out to touch me as I take a step back in fear.

He carries on with his torment, despite Ruth’s waming for him to stop, even telling them that the Alpha wouldn’t be happy if he found out about this….

But even that wasn’t enough…

I grow increasingly embarrassed, feeling my skin itch by the sheer scent of the man alone. His behaviour becomes more aggressive, as he begins to tug at my arm to pull me closer to him.

Without warning, he slaps me hard on the butt, causing me to shriek in shock and pain as the others laugh again.

Ruth steps forward to intervene, but the man only ignores her and reaches out for me yet again – as I fight the tears threatening to spill from my eyes.

The man pulls my wrist up, suddenly taking notice of my new gift from Ruth, before he aggressively snatches the bracelet off from my arm, taunting me. “Let’s make a deal baby, if you want this back, meet me here tonight at ten for it… I’ll show you a good time in return. He circles the delicate piece around his finger, before pushing his way past us and walking off.

Sadness and humiliation washes over me, as I bite my lip, holding back the tears. “Come sweetheart! Let’s get you inside! It’s ok!” Ruth wraps an arm around me, looking completely flustered now herself as she rushes me through the gates and towards the Alphas home.

*Im… Im so sorry Ruth! Your gift! H–He took it! That was the best thing I had… ever been given by someone… and he t–took it!” I suddenly sob, as Ruth continues to hush and guide me inside to safety,

She leads me upstairs, towards the safety of the Alpha’s quarters, rubbing soothing circles on my arm in comfort.

Ruth takes me to my room, completely furious about what had happened as she immediately goes off to find the Alpha, needing to inform him of the

situation.

Just when I had felt safe and untouchable around here… I don’t think I ever want to step outside of these private grounds again….

I felt awful for allowing that man to take my gift away, considering that Ruth must have spent her own hard earned money on the bracelet.

It was just my dreadful luck, striking again!
