Pursuing My Ex Wife in Full Blooming Spring

Chapter 186

Chapter 186

He was looking straight at her instead of his laptop like he should have.

And on top of that, he was staring at her with an expression she never saw before. It was as though he was staring at her for a long time now. His gaze was steadfast and clear, as though he knew exactly what he wanted and what he was going to do.

However, Naomi could not help feeling scared by this. Scott's gaze was dark and penetrating, and she could not make out a single hint of his emotions. Naomi could not tell exactly what he was thinking, and the fact that he could do anything to her at that moment terrified her.

Naomi did not dare to move, nor did she even dare to retreat to the bathroom. It felt like any movement of hers would trigger something life-changing.

The entire room fell silent, and even time seemed to stop still. Neither of them uttered a single word, nor made any move to break the silence.

They continued to stare at each other in silence.

Naomi's heart began to race. Her grip tightened around the doorknob, and she could feel her breath coming in short gasps. The entire atmosphere felt strange, and she instinctively wanted to run and hide from him.

She forced herself to peel her gaze away from him and kept muttering to herself to stay calm. She should not be intimidated by him.

Scott watched as Naomi's expression changed from one of shock to panic, then finally to hostility. Every shift in her mood was evident in her crystal-clear eyes. He closed his laptop, got out of his chair, and made his way toward her.

All of a sudden, something buzzed in his pocket. Scott froze in his steps.

With that familiar buzzing, the entire atmosphere within the room changed. Naomi instinctively relaxed and slowly walked back toward him.

Scott watched as a look of relief crossed her face, as though she just escaped from the claws of a monster. He took his phone out of his pocket and glanced at the screen. Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

Connor.

Scott stared at this for a long time before finally walking out of the room. His entire body language changed.

Naomi, who was ready to go to bed, turned around when she heard the door open behind her. The last thing she saw was Scott slipping out of the room, leaving the door slightly ajar behind him. He planned to return.

Naomi turned her attention back to the bed and tucked herself in. She glanced out the window at the night sky, which seemed to have gotten progressively darker as time passed. It looked to be about 10:30 p.m. by now, and Naomi was beginning to get drowsy. She let out a yawn and closed her eyes.

Her sleep schedule got rather messed up since she arrived in Herland. Naomi knew she had to get her sleep schedule in order lest it cause lasting damage to her health.

Scott stepped out of the room and went someplace a few feet further down the hallway. "Hello?"

The hallway was pin-drop silent, and his husky voice echoed loudly in the hallway.

After a brief silence, Connor's voice rang out from the other end of the line, "I thought you'd have slept by now."

Connor sounded young—not a day over twenty-five, but the calmness and maturity in his tone far surpassed his age.

"I haven't."

Connor could tell from Scott's tone that he was going to get rejected even before he made his request. He sighed and continued, "Olivia's sitting alone at a bar right now, nursing a drink. She claims you're seeing someone who looks almost exactly like her, and she's devastated."

Scott furrowed his brows. "She's mistaken."

"Well, I don't have all the details either, but she told me you're turning her down again over another woman. This time, you seem even more determined than before."

Scott did not reply to this.

Silence from both ends, until finally, Connor added, "I know you don't like Olivia in that way, and that you never have."
