Chapter 158: He Has No Other Choice
Chapter 158: He Has No Other Choice
“Benjamin, this octopus is delicious, I bought them this morning. Have a try.”
“Thank you, Miss Alayna.” Nodding his head ‘obediently’, Benjamin reached out his bowl, “I can take it myself.”
Alayna acted shy with much exaggeration.
“Don’t call me Miss, I’m just a few years older than you. Just call me Alayna.”
Kevin was totally appalled at the scene. After a while, he couldn’t take it in anymore and asked with hostility, “Did he really lose his memory? Even if it’s true, why didn’t he get a job and come here for free food?”
“Why do you care?” Alayna rolled her eyes at him, “Talking about coming for free food, I don’t think anyone invites you here today.”
“Alayna, you…”
“Stop,” Alayna raised her hand, “I don’t want to fight with you today, Mr. Jackman. Shut up if you want to remain at this table.”
Kevin was furious and was about to debate when Hayden budged in.
“This is a misunderstanding. Nobody’s here for free food. I invited Benjamin to thank him for helping me with the fake news incident last time. And I invited Kevin because he was with Joseph when I called him.”
This reminded Kevin, that he was picking wedding ring an hour ago. At this moment he was looking at Alayna flirting boldly with another man in front of him. The rage in him grew.
“The chicken wings in the oven should be ready. Let me go take a look,” Benjamin suddenly said.
Then he left with a pure expression as if no clue what was going on in the room.
“I’ll go with you.” Alayna followed suit.
After a few seconds, Kevin smashed his utensils on the table and followed too.
Only Hayden and Joseph were left at the table staring at each other.
“Will it be okay?” Hayden was a bit nervous.
“Who are you worrying about?”
“Of course I’m worrying about Benjamin.” Hayden said in a way as if it was obvious, “Didn’t you see Kevin looks like he wants to devour Benjamin?”
“I don’t think Benjamin will lose if they really start a fight.”
“Is it? Benjamin doesn’t seem like he knows how to fight. He’s still just a kid.”
Displeased, Joseph frowned upon hearing that. Seemed he was not happy with the remark “kid”.
Women sometimes blinded by their motherly nature and couldn’t see the truth.
The truth was, Benjamin was a well-built guy with a height of about 185cm. He obviously had a huge advantage in a fight against Kevin, who only had the looks but not the muscles.
However, Benjamin had this likable innocent face that made women fall for him. Allegedly, the room he stayed was cleaned about seven to eight rounds daily.
Joseph shook his head helplessly looking at Hayden’s worried look.
For the rest of the meal, Hayden had to be the mediator between Kevin and Alayna. It took them a whole hour to finish the meal, and they had argued the full hour. In the end, they said they need to talk about it somewhere else and left. Only then the house was quiet.
It was already middle of the night. With everyone left, and the two kids sent to Harrison’s, Hayden and Joseph were the only two people in the house.
As Hayden cleaned the table and put the dishes in the basin, someone hugged her from behind.
“Stop it,” Hayden exclaimed.
She was extremely ticklish at the waist. She was always afraid of people touching her waist, especially by Joseph.
But Joseph just hugged her and didn’t make much movement. He rested his chin on her shoulder and said with a deep voice, “It’s late now.”
“You can go sleep first if you’re tired.” Hayden knew what he was thinking about. She blushed and uttered, “I need to do the dishes.”
Her soft voice was like a current running through Joseph’s body…
“You can do it tomorrow.”

“Let me do the dishes.”
…
He had always been rational even since he was a kid, which was the reason he always appeared as extra mature among his peers. That made him not favored by adults and couldn’t blend in with his peers. He had minimal emotional life especially in his adulthood. Even to his grandfather, there was only reverence but not kinship.
He never thought marriage was something to pursue in his life because of his parents’ situation.
With that thought, he had a conviction to not get married at all. Even when his grandfather forced him to get married for the sake of his career, the one thing he cared about most, he resisted it with extreme ways.
There was no other moment than now that he was sure he could fall in love with someone. He felt this woman in his arms was the only person who can be his partner for the rest of his life.
If what his grandfather said was true, that one must choose a person to spend a lifetime with, he was sure Hayden was the only choice he had if he could make the choice out of his own will.
